Nearly 3500 children from Ryan International and DAV Public School in Ludhiana, Punjab, got a treat as they watched “Karamati Coat” – an interesting film narrating the story of a poor boy, who gets a magic coat that turns his life around and helps him learn many important lessons.
The film screening was followed by an interactive session where Smile Foundation’s representatives from the region, Mr. Sukhdeep Gill and Mr. Kulvir Kumar, discussed how the children could implement learnings from the movie in their own lives. The students responded with enthusiastic answers and a roaring applause.
Smile Foundation has joined hands with Children’s Film Society of India (CFSI) to screen value-based films for school children across India. 10 films have been handpicked for the festival, each highlighting a different value – ranging from friendship and family bonding, to animal love and cultural harmony.
Under its Child for Child programme, Smile Foundation visits various privileged schools across India, and conducts such engaging sessions for the young minds, to sensitize them about vital social issues and inculcate strong values in them from the very beginning, helping them grow up as responsible citizens and change makers.
