Rajhans Vidyalaya, Mumbai, invited children from Smile Foundation’s Mission Education centre SHED to celebrate Children’s Day in a unique way. 600 students from the school as well as kids from the centre took part in a walkathon, as an effort to encourage the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, which began from the school and covered all the neighbourhood areas. The children were joined by teachers from the school, the Principal, Mrs. Deepshikha Srivastava, and representatives from Smile Foundation, and everyone enthusiastically pledged to make India clean and green.
Later, the Principal personally distributed gifts like cricket bats, badminton kits, carom boards, chess boards and many other games to the Smile kids, along with beautifully created recycled notebooks.
One of the youngest girls from the Mission Education centre cut a symbolic cake to mark Children’s Day, which was enjoyed by all the children. The Rajhans Vidyalaya students also shared lunch with the Smile kids at their school mess.
Such interactions between the privileged and underprivileged children are encouraged under Smile Foundation’s Child for Child (CFC) programme, which seeks to bridge the gap between children from the two worlds.
