Smile Foundation organised a career counselling session for young underprivileged girls from 10 urban slums of Delhi. Reebok’s Master Trainer Nisha Verma, a well known name in the Fitness Industry gave a detailed presentation on ‘how to stay fit’, and ‘fitness training’ as a career option.
The training programme was organised for 22 underprivileged girls covered under the Shinnyo-en scholarship programme. These girls hail from Swabhiman intervention areas of Smile Foundation. The girls aspire to become a dietician, nutritionist or a fitness trainer. But due to lack of exposure they are unable to achieve their dreams. The programme was organised to give them a platform to understand the details of the job as a ‘fitness trainer’.
Nisha said, “Shaping up and having a slimmer look is becoming a trend and more and more celebrities are flaunting their abs and muscles. Fitness is an emerging industry. Proper training and dedication is all that is required to avail the opportunity in the sector.”
She guided the students on their personal health and nutrition too. “Greasy and over-cooked food should be avoided and for a longer life, one should have a regular exercising routine,” she said.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the session and raised many queries regarding injuries and physical fitness. The event ended with prizes being given away to the winners of the painting competition ‘Beti Bhi Apni Hai’.
