Smile Foundation in association with TechShastra organised three Smile Health Camps for making healthcare affordable and accessible to the underprivileged slum dwellers in three slums of Delhi and Mumbai namely Tuglakabad and Rangpuri Pahari (Delhi) and Sion Koliwada (Mumbai).
These health camps that were conducted provided preventive, promotive, curative and referral health care services to the people who have less medical facilities available for them.
During the camp It was found that in the communities most people suffer from skin infections, fever, cold & cough, dehydration, anemia and malnutrition which anyway are common diseases but seriously neglected by the people who are busy earning livelihood for themselves.
The doctors provided immediate treatment and gave proper medication to all the people who attended the camp. Growth check-ups for children, treatment for malnutrition cases, medicines for common ailments, dental check-ups and eye check-ups were some of the services that were provided. Some people were diagnosed with serious health problems which further were referred to the referral hospitals. A total of 771 people were benefited from these health camps.
Smile health camp teams also conducted sensitization activity within the community to sensitize the people on common preventable health problems and to improve the health and hygiene of the people residing there.
