A Smile on Wheels mobile hospital project has been initiated in the Masoodpur slum cluster in Delhi, where a massive fire had left more than 4000 people homeless, destroying their shanties and belongings, in April 2014. Smile Foundation had joined hands with the local government bodies, civil society groups, volunteers and a few other organizations then, working continuously for days, to address the immediate healthcare needs of the affected people. The slum cluster is home to migrant population, mostly hailing from West Bengal, working in nearby areas as domestic helps, hawkers or scrap dealers.
