Mineral Enterprise Limited (MEL) has partnered with Smile Foundation to implement the ‘Smile on Wheels’ project that will provide primary healthcare services to underserved communities in Chitradurga district and Dharawad district. In the first phase (2016), MEL’s support to the purpose-built Mobile Medical Unit enables underserved rural communities in Chitradurga and Dharawad to avail doorstep access to a team of doctors and nurses and state-of-the-art medical equipment and facilities such as basic pathological testing. The programme also envisages setting up referral linkages with local hospitals over the long-term. So far the project has benefitted approx. 45,000 beneficiaries and will further reach out to another 45000 beneficiaries.
