About Us

India has around 3.2 million registered non-government organizations (NGOs) working on various social issues in rural and urban areas. These organizations and social entrepreneurs play a significant role in the social development of the nation, tackling grassroot challenges and bringing various schemes and programs by the government and large organizations to the vulnerable and needy. However, these organizations face several challenges that hinder their ability to be effective advocates of social change. There have been continuous changes in the landscape – foreign donors are reducing their funding or changing their priorities for India. Recent amendments in the FCRA and CSR laws demand stricter compliances. The ongoing pandemic has caused a diversion of funds and resources towards COVID-19 relief.

Based on its philosophy of Social Venture Philanthropy (SVP),Smile Foundation has been working to empower such organizations towards better governance and designing their own funding strategies towards sustainability.
