SUMMARY:New Smile on Wheels launched in Pune
DESCRIPTION:A new Smile on Wheels mobile hospital project\, supported by Ericsson Global Services Limited\, was launched in Pune\, Maharashtra. The project will take healthcare services to doorsteps of families consisting mainly of daily wage laborers in 14 slums of Pune. Powered with a team of doctor\, nurse\, lab technician\, pharmacist\, driver and a group of volunteers\, the project will benefit over 16\,000 people directly every year. \nThe Smile on Wheels programme has so far provided free healthcare services to more than 10 lakh children and families. \nSmile Foundation is an NGO in India directly benefitting over 750\,000 children and their families every year\, through more than 350 live welfare projects on education\, healthcare\, livelihood and women empowerment\, in over 1000 remote villages and slums across 25 states of India.

SUMMARY:Mumbai youth get Industry Exposure at leading retail mall
DESCRIPTION:Youth from STeP centre in Mumbai went out for an exposure visit to the Seawood Mall. The trainees interacted with managers and staff of the major retail brands outlets from the mall. They were oriented on work culture\, sales promotion strategies\, and client handling. Industry exposure visits equip the youth with first-hand industry knowledge\, thus enhancing their employment opportunities in the service\, retail and ITES sectors. \nSo far\, more than 22\,600 youth have been trained and 14\,500 have been placed in over 150 brands through 91 operational projects across India. \nSmile Foundation is an NGO in India directly benefitting over 750\,000 children and their families every year\, through more than 350 live welfare projects on education\, healthcare\, livelihood and women empowerment\, in over 1000 remote villages and slums across 25 states of India.

SUMMARY:Child for Child celebrates National Girl Child Day
DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation to mark the occasion of National Girl Child Day on January 24 2019 conducted painting exhibitions in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (IGRMS) at Bhopal and Central Museum\, Nagpur. The exhibition was titled ‘Swabhiman- Pride – Dignity ‘made by school students of Bhopal and Nagpur. \nThis exhibition was inaugurated by Prof. Sarit Kumar Chaudhuri\, Director\, IGRMS at Bhopal and at Nagpur by Dr. Neha Bhargava Pankule who is a Gynecologist and Oncology Surgeon. On this occasion\, Prof. Sarit Kumar Chaudhuri said\, “National Girl’s Day should be celebrated like a festival all over the country. Whereby in society\, all the darkness related to the girl can be eradicated through awareness.” \nUnder the Child for Child programme\, Smile Foundation visits various schools and conducts engaging sessions for the young minds. It sensitizes children towards various causes and let them realize their privileged status. \nCFC currently reaches out to nearly one million privileged children in 900 schools spread across 417 districts of India\, every year. In addition\, their parents and teachers are also involved in the process. The programme has today reached out to each part of India with the exception of Lakshadweep.

DESCRIPTION:An assembly talk was conducted for school children under Smile Foundation’s Child for Child (CFC) programme in Sangli\, Maharashtra. Students of the school attended the early morning session which included the value of empathy\, care and integrity in life; how to grow up as a successful as well as happy individual\, among other subjects. The assembly talk was a way to educate the children of the hardships children in urban slums and extremely remote areas face when they want to peruse a good education. \nSmile Foundation visits various privileged schools across India and conducts engaging sessions for the young minds\, under CFC programme. Children are sensitized in various causes\, value systems and are ushered to realize their importance in growing up as responsible citizens of the country. \nDuring last one year\, Smile Foundation reached out to nearly 1 Million privileged children in over 1000 schools spread across 417 districts of India\, through Child For Child (CFC) programme.
