DESCRIPTION:Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha celebrated the 9th Anniversary of Palladium with Smile Foundation kids\, which was held at Lower Parel in Mumbai. The actress along with Palladium Mall supported S\,mile Foundation’s Campaign for education of girl children SheCanFly. The kids were overjoyed to meet the actress and made beautiful cards for the actress. \nA question answer session was also conducted wherein the kids asked various questions to the actress about her childhood and dreams. Sonakshi answered the questions and said she loved to go to school and loved to play sports. Speaking about the event Sonakshi said\, “I think it is a fantastic initiative. Whatever little we can do on our end to help the kids should be done.” The kids also sang a song with the actress.

SUMMARY:Parenting workshop conducted under Child for Child programme
DESCRIPTION:A parent’s workshop was conducted at a school in Chennai. The whole idea behind the workshop was to sensitize the parents about inculcating the values of love\, compassion\, giving etc in the child from a young age. Such sessions for older students are conducted under Smile Foundation’s Child for Child programme to sensitize privileged school going children about positive values like helping the needy\, inculcating the values of love and compassion within oneself. \nUnder the Child for Child programme\, Smile Foundation visits various schools and conducts engaging sessions for the young minds. It sensitizes children towards various causes and let them realize their privileged status. \nCFC currently reaches out to nearly one million privileged children in 900 schools spread across 417 districts of India\, every year. In addition\, their parents and teachers are also involved in the process. The programme has today reached out to each part of India with the exception of Lakshadweep.

SUMMARY:Team Kolkata Knight Riders plant trees with Smile Foundation
DESCRIPTION:Team Kolkata Knight Riders planted trees with Smile Foundation children on the 12th of October 2018 under the Plant a Tree initiative. This activity was a part of ‘Plant a 6’ initiative by KKR & Juhi’s Citizens for Tomorrow campaign that kick-started last year with a aim to plant a tree for every 6 hit by KKR in their home-ground Kolkata. KKR has been in the forefront of taking the eco-friendly route & stopped the sale of plastic flags last year & which continued this year & has also installed dustbins throughout the stadium. \nSpeaking about the event KKR co-owner Juhi Chawla said\, “It was good fun. We had some children from Smile Foundation. We were joking\, laughing and then doing something good. We must be doing a lot more of this\, but we have made a beginning. It’s not just about planting the trees\, but also taking care of them\,” said Juhi\, who’s grown a “green mind” now. “I only want to see green everywhere\,” she said. \nSmile Foundation is an NGO in India directly benefitting over 600\,000 children and their families every year\, through more than 250 live welfare projects on education\, healthcare\, livelihood and women empowerment\, in over 950 remote villages and slums across 25 states of India.

DESCRIPTION:The Amani India Project partnered with Yale Centre for Emotional Intelligence to weave their programme into music making curriculum\, was launched in Delhi with Smile Foundation and Children in Harmony. \nThis is an initiative through which children learn to identify\, comprehend and manage their emotions through music – the project brought together teachers\, student mentors\, and schoolchildren. The project focuses on music theory\, music practice and its association with emotional intelligence training. \nActivities included ice-breaking sessions\, jam sessions\, song composition and practice sessions\, working with mood meters\, performing to the different songs and group recitals. \nPalak Muchhal\, celebrity playback singer\, attended the event and actively trained\, guided and collaborated with the young artists – adding value to their different song compositions. \nSantanu Mishra\, Co- Founder and Executive Trustee\, Smile Foundation says\, “Children learnt to fashion their own ‘do it yourself’ instruments from objects as they composed music and lyrics. Songs were focused on empathizing with people who are different. Our objective was to help them become ‘activists’ – activist artists who put into motion all of the new equity skills they’ve learned in the Amani Project\, specifically around (but not limited to) gender.” \nSmile Foundation is a national level development organisation reaching out to more than 600\,000 underprivileged children\, youth and women directly every year through more than 250 welfare projects on subjects such as education\, healthcare\, youth employability\, and women empowerment across 25 states of India. Adopting a life cycle approach of development\, Smile Foundation focuses its interventions on children\, their families and the community.

DESCRIPTION:Upcoming crime drama thriller “Bazaar” has joined hands with Smile foundation under which the organization will be the charity partner of this movie and the movie will support #MyMissionEducation\, the flagship programme of Smile Foundation. The film has provided a wonderful platform to the underprivileged children to share a scene with the cast – Saif Ali Khan\, Radhika Apte and Chitrangada Singh. \nSpeaking on this occasion\, Santanu Mishra\, Co-Founder and Executive Trustee\, Smile Foundation said\, “Smile Foundation believes in civic driven change\, under which we continuously strive to sensitize the privileged mass of the country so that they come forward and participate in solving the social issues. It is needless to say that the association will create an impact on the interventions that we intend to create amongst the marginalized section of the society. I would like to thank the team of Bazaar for all their support.” \nThe kids were really excited to meet Saif Ali Khan\, Radhika Apte and Rohan Mehra. Meeting them was a big surprise for THE KIDS.

DESCRIPTION:Smile International Film Festival’s initiative to take meaningful cinema to school across all parts of India is to sensitize children and youth through hand-picked quality films\, with assortment of various topics starting from gender equality to environment\, family values\, friendship\, aspirations\, dream\, self-confidence and importance of education from across the globe. \nThe festival reached Amravati on the 23rd of October 2018 wherein a number of meaningful movies\, beneficial to school children were screened. The children enjoyed the movies and appreciated the values imparted through the films and promised to inculcate them in their daily lives. \nSIFFCY (Smile International Film Festival for Children & Youth) is a special film platform devoted to a greater appreciation of meaningful cinemas made for children and youth which can bring change in the society by showcasing those films\, supporting emerging filmmakers\, recognizing the pioneers and leaders of the similar industry and by promoting the diverse perspectives of Good World Cinema.
