The main aim of conducting health camps in schools is to ensure that the children do not fall sick at regular intervals and remain healthy. Healthy students can maintain proper attendance in school and can be better and fast learners.. SUMMARY:Moments with Maa - Smile Foundation celebrates mothers!
DESCRIPTION:In anticipation of the upcoming Mother’s Day\, Smile Foundation planned a very special tribute for mothers of children from reputed Delhi NCR schools. Titled “Moments with Maa”\, the event was designed to celebrate motherhood and help rejuvenate the mother-child bond\, particularly at an age when children start distancing themselves from their parents. \nEminent panelists including Delhi’s most loved voice on the radio RJ Naved\, renowned psychologist Dr. Aruna Broota\, and fashion designer\, educationist and social activist Ms Varija Bajaj were present at the session to encourage and motivate the children and mothers. It was beautifully moderated by our very own Ms. Seema Kumar (GM – Programmes). SUMMARY:Vegetable gardening and fun: learning the benefits of home grown food
DESCRIPTION:It is very important to teach children the importance of eating vegetables and fruits from a very early age for their growth and development into healthy individuals. A vegetable gardening workshop was organized by a Mission Education centre in Karnataka for the children to teach them the basics of vegetable gardening at home and also create awareness about the benefits of consuming home grown vegetables. A demo was organized in which children also actively participated and joined in mixing the compost along with employees from TURNER who had also joined in the activity. Sapling and seeds of lettuce\, coriander\, basil\, and greens were planted. SUMMARY:New Smile on Wheels bringing hopes and health to the people of Bengaluru
DESCRIPTION:A new Smile on Wheels Mobile hospital project has been launched in Bangalore\, Karnataka. \nThe project will make healthcare services accessible at the doorsteps of families living in 15 slums across the city\, including Chennasandra Boovi\, Sri Ramachandra Slum\, Renuka Ellamma temple road slum\, Bhuvaneshwari Nagar\, Balaji Layout Slum and Vasanthapura Slum. \nPowered with a team of qualified doctor\, nurse\, lab technician\, pharmacist\, driver and a group of volunteers\, the project aims to benefit over 16\,000 children and their families directly every year. \nThe Smile on Wheels programme has so far provided free healthcare services to more than 10 lakh children and families. \nSmile Foundation is a national level development organisation directly benefitting over 400\,000 children and their families every year\, through more than 200 live welfare projects on education\, healthcare\, livelihood and women empowerment\, in over 950 remote villages and slums across 25 states of India.

SUMMARY:Intel employees paint classrooms for children of Mission Education centre
DESCRIPTION:A team of employees from Intel visited Mission Education centre at Dharavi\, Mumbai on the 19th of May 2018. The volunteers had a gala time painting the walls of the classroom with beautiful pictures which would help the children learn better by looking at them. Alphabets\, numbers\, nature\, animals\, cartoon characters etc were painted by the volunteers. It was a much relaxing session for the volunteers and they were happy to help for the betterment of the small children. \nMission Education is a national level programme of Smile Foundation\, which is committed to providing basic education and healthcare to underprivileged children. SUMMARY:Health camp for women and children conducted by team Swabhiman
DESCRIPTION:A health camp was organized for women\, adolescent girls and children at Surat Nagar\, Gurugram under Smile Foundation’s Swabhiman programme. \nAnte-natal check-ups and one-on-one counselling sessions were held for mothers and expecting mothers. Regular health check-up was conducted for children and women. The health camp\, facilitated by a team of medical professionals\, Swabhiman Health Volunteers (SHVs) and Community Health Educators (CHEs)\, also provided free medicines to the beneficiaries. \nThe community women were also made aware of hygienic practices and healthy eating habits that they should adopt in their daily lives\, and subsequently in their families’ routine. \nDedicated to the welfare of women and the girl child\, Swabhiman functions with the belief that when women our empowered\, the whole society benefits – families are healthier\, children go to school\, income levels improve and communities become more prosperous. \nSwabhiman works through an innovative and highly effective approach called the ‘4 S Model’\, which stands for Seeking Healthcare as a Behaviour\, Support for Education\, Supporters in Men through Male Involvement\, and Sustaining the Change in Communities.
