SUMMARY:World Cancer Day observed in Mumbai
DESCRIPTION:The World Cancer day was observed on 4th February 2018. Continuing the observation a general awareness activity was conducted with the beneficiaries of Smile on Wheels in Mumbai. An OPD session was conducted for the people. The harmful effects of consuming different types of tobacco were discussed with the people and the measures for preventing the deadly disease were also discussed. A discussion on how to take care of thir general health was also discussed with the beneficiaries. \nSmile on Wheels programme at present has 34 operational projects in 265 remote villages and urban slums across India\, directly benefitting over 400\,000 lives in a year. \nSmile Foundation is an NGO in India directly benefitting over 600\,000 children and their families every year\, through more than 250 live welfare projects on education\, healthcare\, livelihood and women empowerment\, in over 950 remote villages and slums across 25 states of India.

SUMMARY:Self defense workshop conducted for girls
DESCRIPTION:A self defense training camp was conducted for the girls of Shri Ram J. J. Camp & Nithari. The training was conducted to boost the self confidence of the girls and to make them able to act in unfavorable situations. The girls were taught simple ways of self defense and they were also spoken to about tackling situations in which they found themselves to be under any kind of harassment. DESCRIPTION:Children of Mission Education centre in Karnataka observed National De-worming Day on the 10th of February 2018. The teachers spoke about the importance of maintaining hygiene and the importance of washing hands before and after eating food and the importance of brushing their teeth and drinking clean water. Deworming day is a day dedicated to deworm all the school going children of the country to give them a healthy digestive system. SUMMARY:Career Counselling sessions conducted for STeP students
DESCRIPTION:Counseling sessions had been conducted in centers of Delhi\, Mumbai\, Chennai\, Kolkata and Bengaluru\, Pune and Hyderabad. A total of 91 career counseling sessions were held. Interaction with youth on personality development\, soft skills and their future career was done by personals from various organizations. Sessions were taken up on development of confidence\, facing interviews and decision making. The sessions will help in motivating these students to go forth with their choice of careers. \nSmile Twin E- learning Programme (STeP) is an initiative of Smile Foundation that aims at creating a pool of young and independent people\, from a section of underprivileged youth\, through skill enhancement in tandem with market requirements. SUMMARY:Distribution of Sanitary Napkins & Contraceptives to women and young girls
DESCRIPTION:During group meetings and counseling sessions on topics related to family planning and menstrual hygiene contraceptives and sanitary napkins were distributed to women and adolescent girls respectively. This exercise is aimed to promote practice of family planning and hygiene. A total of 23 women were provided with contraceptives to practice family planning and 69 women and girls were provided with sanitary napkins through the meeting. \nSwabhiman\, meaning self-respect in English\, was initiated in 2005 to address these challenges through a simple yet effective approach. DESCRIPTION:The children of a Mission Education centre in Kalyan\, Mumbai were in for a day of fun and learning when a drawing competition was conducted for them. The children were asked to use their imaginations and draw whatever they wanted to. The children came up with things which they found beautiful or inspiring. Many drew from nature and many picked things and instances from their daily lives.
