DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation conducted workshops for students and teachers of Sishu Vidyapith HSS\, Jabalpur\, Madhya Pradesh\, under its Child for Child (CFC) programme. The workshops were conducted for both English and Hindi medium sections of the school. \nOver 500 students attended the value education workshop\, while the teachers’ workshop was focused on enhancing student-teacher communication. The students as well as the teachers thoroughly enjoyed the sessions. It focused on ensuring nutrition for better literacy for the girl child. Through this campaign across all the Indira campuses\, people were encouraged to donate a sum that they would usually spend on a meal\, ensuring a healthy future for 50 girl children for a year. \nSpeaking about the initiative\, Dr. Tarita Shankar\, Chairperson\, Indira Group of Institutes and Smile Foundation’s Goodwill Ambassador for girl child education said\, “In these 20 years of Indira’s existence\, the fact that has inspired me the most is to be a reason for someone’s happiness and success. SUMMARY:Life Skills Education for school students
DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation conducted a workshop on Life Skills Education at Motilal Nehru Public School\, Northern Town\, Jamshedpur in Jharkhand. Over 200 students from class VIII\, IX and X attended the workshop\, which was divided into two sessions. \nWhile the first session concentrated on subjects such as goal setting\, decision making and communication skills\, the latter was exclusively for girls and focused on adolescent issues. The workshop was made very interactive through presentations\, question answer sessions\, role playing\, personal experience sharing and plenary discussion. \nThe students as well as the teachers found the session very informative. At the end of the session\, three best performers were chosen and felicitated on the basis of their participation throughout the session.

SUMMARY:Hygiene workshop for New City International School students
DESCRIPTION:New City International School at Kharghar\, Navi Mumbai\, invited Smile Foundation to conduct a health and hygiene workshop\, followed by a value education workshop for its students. Both the English and Marathi medium wings of the school participated in the workshops. \nThe first session was focused on personal hygiene and highlighted the importance of hand washing. The students were given a demonstration which was then repeated by them. It was an extremely responsive and highly involving session. \nThis was followed by a value education workshop which again engaged the students\, making them sensitized to the plight of their underprivileged counterparts. \nThe school teachers as well as the In-charge were also present during the workshops and highly appreciated the efforts being made by Smile Foundation.

SUMMARY:Health camp for migrant community in Rajiv Nagar
DESCRIPTION:The Smile Health Camp organised in Rajiv Nagar\, Gurgaon district of Haryana\, benefitted 81 young children\, 105 mothers and 85 men. General physician Dr. Anand Lodhi\, Paediatrician Dr. Visjal Deep\, and Gynaecologist Dr. Blessing Jha were assisted by a team of lab. technician\, pharmacist\, Smile Foundation’s community mobilisers\, project team and volunteers from BlackRock\, which also supported the camp. \nMigrant labourers\, daily wage earners and their families were the main focus of the health camp. Smile on Wheels mobile hospital was also pressed into service and facilitate specialised medical and diagnostic facilities during the camp. \nSmile Health Camps is a special initiative of Smile Foundation to provide healthcare services to meet the immediate needs of the marginalized community in remote rural areas and urban slums through standalone camps. Customized health camps are organized extensively across the country offering comprehensive health services – curative\, preventive\, promotive and referral.

DESCRIPTION:  \nBlossom English Medium SJS Gurunanak High School invited Smile Foundation to conduct a value education workshop for its students. Smt. Badshah Tabassum\, the Principal of Secondary section and Smt. Vrushali Palande\, the Principal of Primary section along with all school teachers and students participated in the workshop. \nThe students were given lessons on various aspects of being positive and numerous values were taught to them during the workshop. The students listened in rapt attention throughout the one and a half hour session and reciprocated with enthusiastic questions. A thunderous applause from the students and teachers brought an end to the engaging session

DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation hosted “Art and Smile”\, a contemporary art show in association with Fervour and The Ritz-Carlton Bangalore. The show was an evening of seminal awakenings with curated affordable art aimed at empowering girl children by raising funds for their education. \nPankaj Advani has been awarded with the Arjuna Award in 2004\, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in 2006 and the Padma Shri in 2009. \nMany renowned artists supported the cause by donating their art work\, which was displayed and put on sale on the occasion. Anjolie Ela Menon\, Arvind Kolapkar\, AV Ilango\, Babu Xavier\, Basuki Dasgupta\, BIkash Poddar\, Dutta Bansode\, G. Subramanian\, Ganesh Haloi\, Jagannath Paul\, Jehangir Jani\, JMS Mani\, Santhanan Krishnan\, KS Radhakrishnan\, Kumar Ranjan\, Praveen Gaud\, P Elanchezhiyan\, Rabin Mondal\, S Harsha Vardhana\, Shankar Kendale\, Shipra Bhattacharya\, Shuvaprasanna\, Shyamal Mukherjee\, Sujata Achrekar\, Vrindavan Solanki are the artists who joined hands for the cause.
