SUMMARY:Special Health Camps for casual and daily wage labour across India
DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation conducted a series of specialized health camps exclusively for casual/daily wage labourers and workers from unorganized sectors across 26 locations in Andhra Pradesh\, Maharashtra\, Delhi\, Uttar Pradesh\, Haryana\, Punjab\, Jammu & Kashmir\, West Bengal\, Jharkhand\, Bihar and Rajasthan. \nA casual labourer must earn a day’s wage to feed his family. Health doesn’t become a priority for them because of such reasons. Similar workers and their children and families form a sizeable portion of the beneficiaries through both Smile Health Camp and Smile on Wheels models of Smile Foundation. However\, a series of specialized camps in various belts across India was conducted focusing specifically on this particular section of the beneficiaries. \nMultiple camps were conducted at Ahmednagar\, Mumbai\, Ratnagir and Solapur in Maharashtra; Titupati and Vijaywada in Andhra Pradesh; Kolkata in West Bengal; Ghaziabad and Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh; Delhi; Gurgaon and Ambala in Haryana; Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh; Ludhiana and Jalandhar in Punjab; Muzaffarpur in Bihar; Jamshedpur and Ranchi in Jharkhand; Jaipur\, Jodhpur and Udaipur in Rajasthan; and Jammu (J&K) in the months of February\, March and April. \nBesides providing primary health care and promoting health seeking behaviour\, the beneficiaries were oriented on numerous health hazards and how to take precaution while taking up various hazardous jobs. In addition\, counselling and referral services\, health supplements such as fruits\, packed juice\, cakes\, biscuits and Chyawanprash etc. are being made available free of cost. \nKansai Nerolac Paints Ltd. supported Smile Foundation for this special series of health camps.

SUMMARY:Employer Engagement Program by Data Dimention Company
DESCRIPTION:On 3rd February 2014\, representatives from Data Dimention Company visited the STeP Center Vidyaranaya in Bengaluru and took session on retail management and personality development and also conducted mock interviews of the students. The questions they asked were similar to the ones that are asked in the interviews. He also explained to the students how they should answer the question and how their body language should be while answering. He also gave important tips which will help the students to excel in their interviews and their professional life. He also explained the job profile in Data Dimension and how their training will help them to gain skills and knowledge. \nAfter the programme\, the students had gained insights about how a retail sector works and how they should work on their weaknesses as well as their strengths to crack the interviews. Overall\, it was a very successful initiative by both Data Dimension and the Smile Foundation.

SUMMARY:Employer Engagement Program by Mahithi Computers
DESCRIPTION:An Employer Engagement Program was organized for the STeP students of Centre Lepakshhi Educational society\, Visakhapatnam on 10th February 2014. The motive of organizing program was to provide employment generation training to the vulnerable youth of Visakhapatnam District. IT manager from Mahithi Computers\, Visakhapatnam was invited to impart the importance of skill development training. Total 60 students of the ongoing batch participated in the program. Out of them 49 were female and 11 were male candidates. \nBeneficiaries were explained about job opportunities at Mahithi Computers and course material was also distributed to all the trainees. Students asked various questions regarding job opportunities. They all were exited to take part in the program and shown interest to join the organization if the opportunity is provided.

SUMMARY:The Smile on Wheels project in Jaipur
DESCRIPTION:The Smile on Wheels project in Jaipur\, Rajasthan is providing healthcare services at Kalakar Basti\, Bhatta Basti\, Jagatpura Kachchi Basti\, Bagrana Kachchi Basti\, Idgah Kachchi Basti and Jhalana Kachchi Basti at the doorsteps. It covers 22\,400 households and a population of 120\,100. \nBesides providing preventive and curative healthcare services at the doorsteps of the underprivileged\, the mobile hospital also promotes a Health Seeking Behaviour in these communities in an interesting and engaging way. Folk drama and dance\, a popular entertainment medium in the state\, is being used to make the people aware about hygiene and sanitation.The Smile on Wheels project in Jaipur is being implemented with Shikshit Rojgar Kendra Prabandhak Samiti (SRKPS).

DESCRIPTION:Six CEOs came together at The Leela Palace\, Bangalore\, along with their spouses\, to show ‘men can cook.’ The underlying purpose of the event was to raise support for Smile kids in Karnataka. \nMr. Suresh Soni from Nova Medical Centers\, Mr. Suhas Bhide from IBM\, Mr. Navneet Kapoor from Target\, Mr. Atul Ujagar from Nike\, Mr. Anurag Kashyap from MOOG\, and Mr. Rob Hess from Fidelity Investments joined the fray. \nThe corporate leaders shared a great rapport with the Smile children invited there. The kids joined each of the CEOs and assisted them during the culinary competition. \nNavneet Kapor\, CEO\, Target\, shared his experience\, “My wife and I enjoyed being a part of this event and we would like to congratulate you on your success. I was also really pleased to meet the little Master Chef\, Robert Dhanush\, and was lucky to have had the chance to partner with him for the cook-off. He is such a bright kid and I believe he has huge potential to be successful in all his endeavors. I wish him the very best for his future and hope all his dreams come true.” \nCNBC TV18 joined hands with The Leela Palace for making the event a success for the education of underprivileged children under Smile Foundation’s Mission Education programme. The modules include Pedagogical Skills\, Library Management and Computer Teaching. \nThe first programme for North India was held in New Delhi which included 37 teachers and instructors from 23 grassroots NGOs from Uttar Pradesh\, Bihar\, Madhya Pradesh\, Jammu & Kashmir\, Chandigarh & Punjab\, Haryana\, Rajasthan and Delhi NCR. The training programme for West India was held in Mumbai which included teachers from 23 NGOs from Maharashtra\, Gujarat and Goa. \nIn East\, 43 teachers from 26 NGOs from Assam\, Bihar\, Chhattisgarh\, Jharkhand\, Odisha\, Tripura and West Bengal and in South teachers and instructors from 18 NGOs from Andhra Pradesh\, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu participated in the programme. \nWilde Ganzen\, the Dutch international development agency\, supported Smile Foundation in conducting this first series of teachers’ training and capacity building programmes.
