SUMMARY:20 Health Camps in association with NSIC
DESCRIPTION:Twenty health camps were conducted by Smile Foundation in various parts of Delhi NCR in association with National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC). This initiative is part of an Integrated Community Development Project started by Smile Foundation and NSIC and was launched in December 2011. This project focuses at the holistic development of the underprivileged living in slums of Delhi NCR\, through education\, healthcare and women empowerment. \nThese health camps that were conducted provided curative\, preventive\, promotive and referral healthcare services to the people. OPD services for prevalent common ailments\, growth check-ups for children\, treatment for malnutrient cases\, dispensing of medicines for common ailments\, dental check-ups and eye check-ups were mainly the services that were made available in these camps. \nThey were conducted in 20 different slums across Delhi NCR\, namely – Rangpuri\, Tuglakabad\, Dhaula Kuan\, Mansarovar Park\, Rohini\, Sunder Nagri\, Sastri Nagar\, Jahangir Puri\, Kalyanvas\, Tilpath\, Majnu Ka Tila\, Gurgaon\, Motiya Khan\, Khori Kingsway Camp\, Jahank Puri\, Bhalaswa\, Tahirpur\, Wazirpur\, Nand Nagri and Faridabad. \nAll the health camps received overwhelming response from the people. As many as 5021 people were benefited. \nThe objective of conducting these health camps was to create awareness of general health among the people\, providing general health care services and counseling them\, on basic healthcare and hygiene. \nMajority of people were diagnosed with various common but seriously neglected problems such as diarrhea\, cholera and cataract in the eyes. There were also a few cases\, detected with major health problems; these cases were further referred to the referral hospital.

The visitors Mr. Sagato Mitra and Mr. Abhijeet Santra gave a brief about the institution and their work. The program was an eye opener for the students as they got lots of information and in return it was motivating and inspiring for them. The visit was eventful as it was illuminating and poured lights on the students. It was an open interactive session and their views were shared. \nThey were given brief orientation about the nature of work\, ethics which are required in a company. They discussed about the various job opening and skills required for the job. Mr.Vilas Jagtap (Development Officer\, Thane branch) explained the importance of insurance; he gave introduction about the Company and its functions. \nMr. Vilas explains what is insurance policy? Salary structure of the company. Tata AIG General Insurance Company Limited is a joint venture company between the Tata Group and American International Group\, Inc. (AIG). It offers complete range of general insurance products that includes insurance for automobile\, home\, personal accident\, travel\, energy\, marine\, property and casualty as well as several specialized financial lines. \nMr. Vilas explained the process of joining the TATA AIG.He said if anyone wants to join the company than he/she has to attend 7 days training which is provide by TATA AIG.After training the candidates should give the exam which is conduct by Government. \nThe aim of the organizing this visit to get placement to the students.Main job offered is to become Insurance agent of the Tata AIG after providing proper training from the Company.

He oriented the students for the jobs in the Media sector has to offer to the youth. The session started with the introduction of the students followed by the joint interactive sections on various benefits involved after joining the Media sector. Mr. Sardar Ambrik Singh explained the students that how the involvement of young students will help them in enhancing the personal as well as professional skills. During the session \, individual interaction was also done by Mr. Sardar Ambrik Singh\, to build confidence among the students. \nStudents Participated with a Great Zeal \,and were very excited about the event.

Many Smile students were present in the session and 20 attended the interview out of them five were selected for the positions of team member. \nMr. Narasimha (HR Executive) from Café Coffee Day came down to the STeP center.He gave the details of Café caffee to the students he said “The first outlet in india opened in 1996 on Brigade Road in Bangalore.It’s been an exciting journey since then\, becoming the largest organized retail cafe chain in the country”. \nHe explained the job profile and the benefits a students can get after joining CCD\, in the same session he cleared the doubts of our students\, later in the session he took the interview. \nStudents participated with great enthusiasm and are very excited to join the organization.

DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation has associated with the prestigious Children Film Society India (CFSI)\, as the Outreach Partner for their feature film Gattu. \nIn order to support the journey of Gattu Smile Foundation organised a special screening of the feature film at Film Division of India\, in Delhi. This screening was conducted especially for school principals\, teachers\, Smile’s NGO partners and children beneficiaries. \nPresent for the screening were Director Rajan Khosa and Creative Head of CFSI Monica Wahi\, along with Santanu Mishra\, Co-Founder and Executive Trustee of Smile Foundation and Jitendra Mishra\, Advisor Media Advocacy of Smile Foundation. \nGattu is the story of a street urchin whose passion for flying kites gets him into stickiest of situations. He takes up big challenges with neither money nor education on his side\, with the determination of fulfilling his dreams. After being premiered at the Children’s Film Festival in Hyderabad\, the movie has already won awards at the prestigious 62nd Berlin Film festival\, the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) and the 12th New York Indian Film Festival. Then it travelled to various film festivals at Beijing\, Cannes\, Toronto and Edinburgh. It has been invited in competition category for Asia Pacific Screen Awards as well. \nSmile Foundation had ventured into the platform of films with its 22 national and international award winning film I am Kalam. Smile’s prime objective of using this medium is sensitization of the masses about the dream of every child to go to school. And to further strengthen this sensitization drive Smile Foundation has associated with this film Gattu. \nCFSI was founded soon after India’s independence and has been promoting films that provide healthy and wholesome entertainment for children to broaden their perspective and encourage them to reflect on the world around. With an enviable catalogue of 250 films in 10 different languages\, CFSI remains the prime producer of children’s films in South Asia.

DESCRIPTION:On 16th July 2012 18 students from Smile went for exposure visit which was held in M/s. Cafe coffee day. Exposure visits gives practical knowledge about chain of retail business to students\, which is very useful. Through exposure visit students are given a broad view about retail industry.Students were taken by a separate cab. Mr. Guru Hr head of M/s. Café coffee day Chennai office welcomed students and students in turn thanked him started to give self introduction. Mr. Guru gave a brief speech about his concern and students gave good response for his speech eagerly. \nFollowed by student’s interaction with him. As every students was very keen to know about his concern they raised many question about his company and their business\, how they sell their products\, how they attract their customers\, the way they treat the each customer was explained. Each and every student was very keen to know entire things carried there. \nImpact: \nThis programme helped to eradicate the state of unemployment among socially and economically weaker sections of the society. With the help of smile twine-e-learning programme Arunodhaya provided livelihood opportunities to the marginalized people.

DESCRIPTION:On 18th July 2012 an exposure visit was organized at\, Lucknow for the students of New Public School Samiti(NPSS) for their STEP students . The venue of the visit was Saharaganj Mall\, Hazratganj. \nOBJECTIVE: \nTo understand the working environment and responsibilities in Retails. \nTo know how the Sector recruits the new staff\, duty schedule\, salary\, nature of job etc. \nDuring the visit students saw the many outlets in Saharaganj Mall. Students observed the activities of the store keepers how they sell the products. They got an idea about the approaches of the sellers. During this visit a representative from the mall management team explained the nature of jobs under Retail outlets\, salary structure\, and duty schedule of the staffs. He suggested that job training was important before facing the interview. He told that during the training session trainers would help them to understand the work.

Making them aware about the hospitality openings.Informing them about the requirements for the jobs.Giving them a brief about the front office\, Food& beverages\, house keeping and marketing from the service industry. \nThey also advised that hospitality can be best option for them among the four as the growth rate is high in this industry.They not only gave them the overview of the working culture but they also motivated them to be a sincere and hard working employee. \nOutcome of the program \n\nThe students were provided the much required information about the various sectors.\nThe students and the team from Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok had a very informative and useful discussion which can help our students take the right decision about their career.\nWe have been asked to bring in more youth in need of training for hospitality.
