SUMMARY:Exposure visit of STeP students to Nirulas Ice cream factory
DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation organised an exposure visit for the students of Smile Twin e-Learning programme at Nirulas in Noida on February 5\, 2009. Our Livelihood programme STeP with its Noida centre – AROH (a ray of Hope) Foundation organised the visit at Ice cream factory of Nirula. \n15 students along with their centre’s English instructor Mr. Rahul Kumar Dubey and Project Coordinator Ms. Shilpa Jain were a part of this visit. As a part of the curriculum under Twin e-Learning Programme\, the visit is initiated to provide a better understanding of working environment to the students. \nThe students received a very warm welcome from the staff of Nirulas. The Production Manager – Ms. Neetu guided the students to the Ice Cream Museum\, where the actual Ice-cream production takes place. Maintaining the decorum of the place\, the students very keenly observed and listened to Neetu as she explained the procedure of Ice cream production. \nThrough such visits\, the Young students of STeP can also explore new job opportunities in Hospitality Sector and get to know about the managerial operations in retail sector. \nStudents had fun while learning and gaining knowledge from the exposure visit. In the end there were delicious refreshments provided by Nirulas to the students and teachers.

SUMMARY:Celebrating the success of STeP Alumni
DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation organised a grand Alumni meet to celebrate the success of the students of Smile Twin e-Learning Programme (STeP) at Hotel Parle International in Mumbai on February 6\, 2010. \nChief Guest Roshni Chopra\, popular Television anchor and actress\, lit the ceremonial lamp to kick start the event. There was a large gathering including the Alumni and their parents\, volunteers\, students from current batches and NGO partners. The STeP students had beautifully decorated the venue with Rangoli\, ribbons and balloons all over. The programme started with a welcome speech and a brief introduction about Smile Foundation by STeP students Vijay Basak and Pradnya Pawar\, who anchored the entire show very nicely. Representatives from our corporate partners like Tata-Trent\, Aditya Birla (Minacs)\, Tech Mahindra Foundation and Apollo Pharmacy were felicitated along with the guests from our NGO partners with whom our STeP programme is being implemented like Prayog Foundation\, Jan Sikshan Sansthan (JSS) and SHED. \n“Tech Mahindra is committed to support & work together with Smile Foundation. And we will continue to extend our support in future as well”\, Mr. Vijay Wavare\, Tech Mahindra. \nThe STeP students got an opportunity through Alumni Meet to exhibit their hidden talents. The audience enthralled the dance\, song and mimicry performances by students. The guests presented the mementos to 107 Alumni who were gathered. \n“I am representing West Side and the whole fraternity here. I foresee different possibilities through which Smile Foundation and Tata Trent could explore partnership in future. The students’ enthusiasm has motivated me to take a few of guest lectures also” Mr. Anirban Roy\, Tata – Trent. \nActress Roshni Chopra addressed the audience on the occasion saying “It’s a privilege to be a part of this program. It is wonderful to see that the students are getting such opportunities through Smile Foundation to be independent and make a respectful living”. \n“We are very happy with the quality of candidates trained by Smile Foundation and we would like to get more people trained through Smile Twin e-Learning Programme and take them on board with Apollo” Mr. Amit\, Apollo Pharmacy. \nTowards the end\, Mr. Pabitra Banerjee\, General Manager (Programs) of Smile Foundation thanked the guests and the audience for being a part of the programme and making it successful.

SUMMARY:STeP students’ exposure visit to Britannia
DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation recently organised an exposure visit for the students of Smile Twin e-Learning Programme (STeP) to Britannia’s factory at Lawrence road in Delhi. \nThe exposure visit to Britannia factory was organised for 35 students from the STeP centres Prerana and ANK respectively on February 13\, 2010. The students were accompanied by their STeP centre coordinators. \nAt the factory the students were welcomed by Factory Manager\, Britannia Industries\, R K Sinha and 2 another representatives. The Quality Inspector took the students to the round of the factory starting from the store room\, where she showed the ingredients used in making bread\, which are tested in the lab before start with the process. \nOnly 16 students at a time were asked to enter the factory for the safety purpose. Representative from Britannia talked about the importance of deliverability and deadlines with STeP students in detail. Relating it to Britannia; as it is an FMCG product keeping in mind its short shelf life\, how they ensure that the product is delivered the same very day to the whole sellers and retailers. \nBoth groups of students keenly observed the operations and asked the Quality Inspector of how they ensure quality\, and all the necessary details involved. They all were also given a slice of fresh made bread to taste. \nThe students were very excited to see the working of the production unit at Britannia factory. Through such exposure visits\, the young students of STeP learn and get to explore job opportunities in Hospitality sectors. Also through such visits our students get to do a formal interaction with Corporates. \nWhile returning to their respective STeP centres the students and teachers relished upon the Bun from Britannia.

SUMMARY:Step students exposure visit to Britannia
DESCRIPTION:On 20th Jan 2011 exposure visit took place in Mumbai STeP center SHED\, at Oberoi mall which were situated in Goregaon. The total number of benefited student was 13\, at the level of entry into the mall Mr. Sushil gave brief objectives & idea to the students regarding that exposure visit. In mall there were various shops but the student visited only the required shops such as: electronic shops. \nStudents were very excited to explore the new knowledge regarding i-pods\, LCD’s\, LCD’s etc\, few of the boys was quite interested towards the technical tools and their applications operation. Student got change to meet Croma executive who gave them the detail and sufficient information regarding the electronic products. As per we know technical knowledge always attracts the new generation. At the end the students got the best Knowledge and were satisfied with the visit.
