SUMMARY:Celebrating 10 Years of Good Cinema
DESCRIPTION:The 10th edition of the Smile International Film Festival for Children and Youth (SIFFCY)\, held in partnership with the European Union\, was a grand success\, marking a significant milestone in the journey of this one-of-its-kind festival. Hosted from April 9th to 15th\, 2024\, this year’s festival was celebrated in New Delhi and over 100 other locations across India\, reaching more than 500\,000 young viewers. This year’s festival showcased over 150 films from 50 countries\, offering a diverse range of genres\, including feature films\, short films\, documentaries\, and animations. In addition to film screenings\, SIFFCY 2024 featured 50 workshops\, masterclasses\, and panel discussions\, engaging young minds in various creative and educational activities. The event also included the participation of over 50 national and international professionals\, jurors\, and filmmakers from 12 different countries\, with 100 young jurors from 10 countries participating virtually. SIFFCY was created with the vision to engage\, educate\, and empower young minds through the medium of good cinema. This initiative by Smile Foundation uses the powerful tool of cinema to impart life lessons\, inspire creativity\, and foster a deeper understanding of social issues among children and youth. By showcasing films from around the world and hosting workshops\, panel discussions\, and masterclasses\, SIFFCY provides a platform for young audiences to explore diverse cultures\, perspectives\, and ideas.

Additionally\, it stressed the importance of hygiene and prioritizing health over stress. The Smile Foundation also introduced the children to the Childline service (1098) for critical situations. This transformative workshop left a lasting impact\, inspiring students to prioritize their well-being\, manage stress\, and seek support when needed\, ultimately promoting their personal growth. Currently\, the program reaches out to nearly 1\,850\,000 children across 4\,400 schools spanning 417 districts in India annually\, actively involving parents and teachers in the process. \n“I am Kalam”\, a film produced by Smile Foundation\, pays tribute to the life and legacy of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. It holds particular significance when screened in schools\, as it serves to inspire and motivate young students to pursue their dreams and work diligently toward their goals\, much like Dr. Kalam did throughout his life. \nThe movie tells the story of a young boy aspiring to be like Dr. Kalam and underscores the pivotal roles of education and determination. It highlights the belief that anyone\, regardless of their background\, can achieve greatness through hard work and dedication. It explained the significance of personal cleanliness in bathing rituals and highlighted the need for daily hygiene practices to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Children were also educated on keeping their living spaces clean and hygienic\, fostering a safe environment. Furthermore\, the session encouraged responsible behavior in maintaining a clean and healthy environment for all and addressed the significance of mental well-being and emotional hygiene. \nThis collaborative effort with the CFC program reflects Smile Foundation’s commitment to empowering these young minds to adopt healthier practices and become champions of good hygiene\, ensuring a brighter future for them.

DESCRIPTION:Smile foundation conducts Emotional Wellbeing Workshops in Schools in Delhi for teachers under the Child for Child Programme in June 2023.   \nUnder the Emotional Wellbeing programme\, the workshop was organised at Delhi International School Edge with a group of 26 Teachers who also went through deep healing mostly around their nervous system. Most of the teachers experienced relief from aches and pains\, especially in knee and backbone areas. The group healing and meditation were deeply enjoyed by all.  \nThis workshop was conducted by Mr. Amit Singh\, a renowned Energy Healer and Emotional Wellbeing Transformationist. \n Mr. Amit Singh taught Emotion Deletion Method (EDM) over a period of two days where the teachers learned how to delete/release their unfavourable emotions and belief systems that were affecting their mental and physical health.  The Fun-filled learning and ameliorating sessions were nothing short of amazing.

DESCRIPTION:An Emotional Wellbeing workshop was expertly facilitated by Ms. Meena Batra\, Advisor at CFC Smile Foundation\, and Mr. Amit Singh\, Founder of the Void Technique and Emotion Deletion Method in Bharti Public School on 22nd May 2023. With over 22 years of experience in alternative therapies and energy medicine\, Mr. Singh brings a wealth of knowledge to the workshop. \nMedical professionals now widely recognize the significant impact of emotions on our overall health. Stress\, triggered by negative emotions such as grief\, guilt\, and fear\, is known to contribute to a range of health conditions\, from minor ailments to severe diseases. It is clear that a key aspect of a healthy life lies in cultivating happiness and self-arising joy. \nThe human body has the innate capability to flush out toxins or chemical reactions within 9 seconds. However\, due to our surroundings or circumstances\, our emotions can become blocked\, hindering the proper flow of cardiac and life energies within our energy body. This blockage can lead to health problems\, relationship issues\, and career challenges. For instance\, unresolved anger from past events can manifest as liver problems and acidity\, fear of change may result in knee problems\, and prolonged grief can impact the lungs. Emotions such as panic can even affect blood sugar levels. \nWhen emotions remain stuck within us\, we find ourselves trapped in the past. Releasing these blocked emotions allows us to return to the present moment\, experience happiness\, and regain our energy. Remarkably\, once emotions are unstuck\, the body and mind can repair themselves with minimal or no medical intervention. The Emotion Deletion Method (EDM) offers an astonishing approach to releasing stuck emotions\, often yielding nearly instantaneous results. \nDuring this workshop\, participants: \n\nLearned the fundamentals of the EDM\nGained insights into the origins of our experiences\nAcquired a method to identify and verify the emotions that debilitate our health in the present moment\nEngaged in the practice of deleting blocked emotions within their systems\nHad the opportunity to ask questions and seek clarifications\n\nThe EDM is an incredibly powerful system that can be learned by anyone\, including children. Our “Child for Child” drive encourages privileged students to extend care and empathy towards underprivileged children\, bridging the gap between the haves and have-nots. \nWith great enthusiasm\, we engaged 15 schools in anti-child labour activities\, and the response we received in the form of pictures\, collages\, school notes\, and press releases is truly heartwarming. The awareness displayed by the students regarding this grave issue is particularly commendable. \nBy involving schools\, we aim to instill a sense of responsibility and empathy in young minds\, making them aware of the challenges faced by their underprivileged peers. Through educational initiatives\, discussions\, and creative projects\, we encourage students to reflect on the importance of eradicating child labour and strive towards a more equitable society. \nThe active participation of schools in these anti-child labour activities demonstrates their commitment to creating a brighter future. It signifies a collective effort toward raising awareness\, advocating for change\, and nurturing a compassionate society. Each picture\, collage\, school note\, and press release serves as a reminder that every small step contributes to the larger goal of eliminating child labour. \nWe cherish the enthusiastic response from schools\, as well as the dedication shown by students and teachers in addressing this pressing issue. Their efforts exemplify the power of education and empathy in driving social change. The campaign aptly reinforces the idea that “doing is the new learning\,” with today’s kids exemplifying this transformative shift and using technology as a reliable enabler to success. \nIn collaboration with VMLY&R\, the campaign aligns seamlessly with Dell’s #PC4Education initiative\, celebrating the learning ethos of students. Whether it’s achieving success\, embracing failure\, or harnessing their skills to create a positive impact on society\, this campaign cherishes and empowers the spirit of young learners. With this initiative\, Dell reaffirms its commitment to making education accessible\, innovative\, and empowering for students worldwide. \nAs an extension of its new campaign\, ‘Doing is the New Learning’\, Dell has collaborated with 88 schools in seven cities\, along with Smile Foundation\, to bring forth a special series called ‘Doing Good.’ The aim is to showcase the stories of students who are actively making a positive difference in their communities. \nThe primary objective is to inspire young minds to think beyond themselves and utilize technology as a catalyst for creating a meaningful impact in the world. Through awareness sessions held in over 40 privileged schools\, the flagship campaign\, Shiksha Na Ruke is brought to the forefront. \nIn addition\, Dell conducts sessions on the importance of technology\, enlightening children about its transformative power. As part of their commitment\, Dell has provided stationery items to approximately 400 children\, enabling them to pursue their educational journey effectively. \nFurthermore\, Dell has contributed five personal computers to five different centers. This will significantly enhance the educational experience for the students. \nTo amplify the impact of the Shiksha Na Ruke campaign\, Dell has leveraged its strong digital presence by promoting the cause across its social media platforms. With the campaign gaining approximately 18 million views\, the message of uninterrupted education is spreading far and wide. \nSmile Foundation has provided access to ME (Mission Education) centers across seven cities\, including Delhi\, Gurgaon\, Bangalore\, Chandigarh\, Mumbai\, Hyderabad\, and Chennai. These centers serve as valuable educational resources for children\, empowering them with the necessary tools to thrive academically.

DESCRIPTION:It was a heartwarming sight as many needy and ailing patients lined up to receive free healthcare services at the Health Camp organized in Sriperumbudur\, Chennai\, under Smile Foundation’s Swabhiman programme. The Health Camp was facilitated by a team of professional doctors who provided free-of-cost medical diagnosis\, medicines\, and counseling to the women on Menstrual hygiene\, Antenatal and Post Natal care\, Breastfeeding practices\, Anemia and nutrition\, Vaccination and Family planning. \nSensitizing the community people about the advantages of maintaining good health and hygiene was joined by Dow India volunteers– ERGs. The community people not only welcomed the idea of the free doorstep health camp but also promised the volunteers to instill health-seeking behavior in themselves.

DESCRIPTION:To inculcate the scientific spirit and spark interest in science and technology among government school students\, Smile Foundation\, in association with Atlas Copco India Ltd.\, organized the Annual Science Fair at Pimple Gurav School in the PCMC area\, Pune. \nMore than 120 students from five government schools (supported under Smile Foundation’s Mission Education programme) presented Science models created by them under the guidance of Scientists and Trainers in space science and technology. \nAmong the unique attractions\, worth mentioning are the 15 paper models\, four metal models\, and STEM models that were prepared and displayed in collaboration with scientists from Indo Science Education Trust. The fair also had a display of aero modelling\, satellites & launch vehicle\, and a rocket launching demonstration.

DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation participated in the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon 2022! \nThe marathon was conducted on 16th  October 2022 at JLN stadium. Smile Foundation through its ‘Shiksha Na Ruke’ campaign raised funds for helping children from difficult circumstances get back to school and restart their lives positively.  \nIn this initiative\, Smile Foundation was supported by three corporates\, Avery Dennison India Pvt Ltd (with a team of 25 employees)\, Mars International India Pvt Ltd (with a team of 15 employees)\, Zimmer India Pvt Ltd (with a team of 15 employees)\, wherein the employees of each of the company ran for the cause and supported the dreams of many children with accessible and quality education. \nFilled with enthusiasm\, the marathon turned out a huge success as everyone encouraged one another and showed unlimited education for the education of children.

The program enables trainee organizations to gain credibility and support. It also helps them become self-sufficient by honing their skills in identifying\, accessing\, and mobilizing locally available resources. \nThe two-day trainer refresher program included sessions on expectations and challenges at the grassroots\, digital fundraising\, developments in the social sector at the global and national levels and problem-solving methods to address issues at the grassroots.

The anthem was sung by the legendary Sonu Nigam\, composed by Jazim Sharma\, and was written by Saaveri Verma. The anthem got love and appreciation across the board\, and garnered over 2 million views on Youtube alone.
