This is also an initiative to sensitize the masses about giving equal opportunities to girls in every walk of life. SUMMARY:Workshop on value education for school children
DESCRIPTION:It is very important to teach to be alert of as number of things like inappropriate gestures\, touches and speaking up about any such incidents. A workshop was conducted for the children of a school in Delhi regarding the same. The children were told about the various types of touches and how they should immediately alert an elder if any such incidents happen. The counseling was important because many a times children are intimidated by adults and are scared to speak up. The children were also asked to keep a look out for other young children who might be a target for any such incidents. \nUnder the Child For Child programme\, Smile Foundation visits various schools and conducts engaging sessions for the young minds. It sensitizes children towards various causes and let them realize their privileged status. \nCFC currently reaches out to nearly one million privileged children in 900 schools spread across 417 districts of India\, every year. In addition\, their parents and teachers are also involved in the process. The programme has today reached out to each part of India with the exception of Lakshadweep.

SUMMARY:Health workshop for women conducted in Mumbai
DESCRIPTION:A health workshop was conducted for the women of Kunchikorve\, Mumbai. The women residing in this area are not well educated in the matters of personal hygiene and do little to maintain it which results in a lot of infections like UTI etc in young women. The workshop was conducted by health experts who talked about menstrual problems\, how to maintain hygiene and importance of proper nutrition for women. The women raised a lot of queries which were answered by the experts. the entire workshop proved to be successful for these underprivileged women who learned a lot. \nSwabhiman\, meaning self-respect in English\, was initiated in 2005 to address these challenges through a simple yet effective approach. The programme is specifically aimed at realization of both individual and collective self-esteem and inner strength for marginalised and socially excluded women and adolescent girls through innovative community practices. \nSmile Foundation is a national level development organisation directly benefitting over 400\,000 children and their families every year\, through more than 200 live welfare projects on education\, healthcare\, livelihood and women empowerment\, in over 950 remote villages and slums across 25 states of India.

The actress along with Palladium Mall supported S\,mile Foundation’s Campaign for education of girl children SheCanFly. The kids were overjoyed to meet the actress and made beautiful cards for the actress. \nA question answer session was also conducted wherein the kids asked various questions to the actress about her childhood and dreams. Sonakshi answered the questions and said she loved to go to school and loved to play sports. Speaking about the event Sonakshi said\, “I think it is a fantastic initiative. Whatever little we can do on our end to help the kids should be done.” The kids also sang a song with the actress.

KKR has been in the forefront of taking the eco-friendly route & stopped the sale of plastic flags last year & which continued this year & has also installed dustbins throughout the stadium. \nSpeaking about the event KKR co-owner Juhi Chawla said\, “It was good fun. We had some children from Smile Foundation. We were joking\, laughing and then doing something good. We must be doing a lot more of this\, but we have made a beginning. The project focuses on music theory\, music practice and its association with emotional intelligence training. \nActivities included ice-breaking sessions\, jam sessions\, song composition and practice sessions\, working with mood meters\, performing to the different songs and group recitals. \nPalak Muchhal\, celebrity playback singer\, attended the event and actively trained\, guided and collaborated with the young artists – adding value to their different song compositions. \nSantanu Mishra\, Co- Founder and Executive Trustee\, Smile Foundation says\, “Children learnt to fashion their own ‘do it yourself’ instruments from objects as they composed music and lyrics. Songs were focused on empathizing with people who are different. Our objective was to help them become ‘activists’ – activist artists who put into motion all of the new equity skills they’ve learned in the Amani Project\, specifically around (but not limited to) gender.” \nSmile Foundation is a national level development organisation reaching out to more than 600\,000 underprivileged children\, youth and women directly every year through more than 250 welfare projects on subjects such as education\, healthcare\, youth employability\, and women empowerment across 25 states of India. SUMMARY:Christmas celebration at Chandigarh school
DESCRIPTION:School children in Chandigarh celebrate Christmas Day amid much fun and joy at a school in Chandigarh. The children were surprised by the arrival of Santa Claus who spread the cheer of Christmas. The children also cut a Christmas cake and enjoyed the day. The children from Smile Foundation interacted with the privileged children of the school. Such activities are organized to reduce the divide between the underprivileged and privileged children by organizing such group activities and focuses on sensitizing the privileged children to reach out to their counter parts who might not get the best of facilities. The children had much fun together and the event was a success. \nUnder Child for Child programme\, Smile Foundation visits various schools and conducts engaging sessions for the young minds. It sensitizes children towards various causes and let them realize their privileged status. \nCFC currently reaches out to nearly one million privileged children in 900 schools spread across 417 districts of India\, every year. DESCRIPTION:The fourth edition of the week-long celebration of Good Cinema – Smile International Film Festival for Children and Youth (SIFFCY) started on the 10th of December and ended on the 16th of December 2018 at the Siri Fort Auditorium in New Delhi. SIFFCY 2018 showcased 150+ critically acclaimed films from more than 50 countries to an audience of over 20\,000 children. \nThe occasion was graced by the super excited school children across Delhi/NCR\, SIFFCY Chairman Santanu Mishra (Co-Founder Smile Foundation)\, accompanied by Festival Director Jitendra Mishra\, celebrity chef Vikas Khanna and the eminent jury including Jill Samuels\, Marta Kraus\, Volodymyr Diagilev\, Marketa Pasmova\, Josep Arbiol\, Jaroslava HYNŠTOVÁ\, Elham Shirvani\, Prof. Dragan Milinkovic Fimon\, Hilde Steenssens and Lawrence David Foldes. \nSIFFCY 2018 also witnessed exemplary workshops like – Role of Cinema in Peace Building and a photography workshop. Trainees of Smile Foundation’s STeP programme also had an unique learning experience to be a part of Skill Development session conducted by NSDC National Skill Development Corporation. \nThe Sustainability Conclave 2018 also happened on 14th December as a part of SIFFCY where the eminent panel members from the esteemed organizations participated in the discussion on the topics like: ‘Tech For Good’\, ‘Women Empowerment: Fostering Entrepreneurship’\, ‘CSR aligning to SDG’. \nThe festival’s success was made possible with support from various partners. It ended with a sequence of 25 celebrities and donors walking the ramp wearing sarees designed by Sailesh Singhania\, who has been working towards promoting handloom. Some of the eminent personalities who walked the ramp included Isha Koppikar\, Shanya Kapur\, Debina Bannerjee\, Mansi Joshi Roy\, Gautami Kapoor\, Shriya Kolte\, Dipika Singh\, Sonali Gupta\, Rakhi Pandit\, Akhila Banoth\, Neha Chauhan\, Srishty Rode\, Preeti Sood\, Flora Saini\, Meenakshi Dixit\, Payal Kothari\, Mahjabeen Patel\, Aradhana\, Dionne\, Vijeeta Neekhrey\, Priyanka Seth\, Poonam Jhawar\, Vaidehi Parshurami. \nOk Sir joined the event as sponsor and pledged their support to benefit 50 girl children for a year.
