The series narrates stories of children from difficult circumstances who have overcome their problems through determination and hard work. \nThe students loved the stories and requested for more screenings of the same\, while the teachers appreciated the efforts of Smile Foundation in contributing towards enhancing the intellectual and moral values of students. \nSmile Foundation’s representative\, Mr. Shobhit Verma\, interacted with the students explaining about the relevance of these stories and the lessons the children could learn from them. The children showed enthusiasm and eagerness to learn more.

Education officer Mrs. Rita Tandaiyy\, Panch members and Sarpanch of the village\, Principal from the supporting school for CFC\, local media and many other villagers were present on the occasion\, giving full security and support to the project. \nThis was a step towards bridging the existing gaps and inequalities between the privileged and underprivileged children\, which is one of the major objectives of the Child for Child programme.

It not only helps the privileged children realize their bliss in life but also enhances the confidence of the less privileged counterparts. \nCFC is based on the belief that children are the future of a nation. They are the best change agents\, be it in the family or the community in which they live. It is therefore crucial to catch them young and inculcate in them feelings of empathy and conscience so that they grow up as responsible individuals.

SUMMARY:IITians launch Mashal in support of Smile Foundation
DESCRIPTION:As hosts of the Golden Jubilee Inter IIT Sports Meet\, IIT Bombay launched Mashāl\, the first ever pan IIT social initiative. Smile Foundation has been chosen as the cause partner and the initiative will be spread across all 16 IITs with the objective of promoting and supporting education of underprivileged children under Smile Foundation’s Mission Education programme. \nIncidentally\, this is the first ever occasion that brings all 16 IITs together in order to raise support for the cause of Primary Education. A series of subsequent marathons has been scheduled in the other IITs over October and November 2014\, where participants will run for Smile Foundation and the cause. \nDuring the inaugural run at IIT Bombay\, the student fraternity showed great excitement and eagerness to participate in this ‘run for a cause’ and over 1000 students participated in the mini-marathon. \nAsmit Jain\, Events Head of the student organizing committee\, said\, “Mashāl started off as an idea to unite the IITs towards one noble purpose\, and with the help of Smile Foundation we are now seeing it materialize on a scale we hadn’t expected before.” \nSantanu Mishra\, Co-Founder and Executive Trustee\, Smile Foundation said\, “I would like to thank IIT Bombay and the whole fraternity for supporting our children. SUMMARY:Value based film festival launched in Goa
DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation has joined hands with Children’s Film Society of India (CFSI) to screen value-based films for school children across India. 10 films have been handpicked for the festival\, each highlighting a different value – ranging from friendship and family bonding\, to animal love and cultural harmony. \nStudents from Greenlawn School in Goa celebrated Children’s Day by watching some of the movies. The screening was inaugurated by Mrs. Kulkarni\, who was also the chief guest for the occassion. Teachers and Principal Mrs. Aurea Noronha also watched the movies along with the children. \nThe children eagerly await the rest of the films\, which have been scheduled over the next few weeks. \nThe film screening is an effort towards making our children aware and sensitized about vital social issues\, and inculcate in them strong values that they can uphold throughout their lives\, growing up to be responsible citizens and change makers. Smile Foundation visits various privileged schools across India and conducts engaging sessions for the young minds\, under its Child for Child programme.

The students were very excited throughout the film and responded with interesting questions and discussions post the screening. The Principal\, Mr. Rajendra Mishra\, was also present during the screening\, along with teachers and staff from the school. \nThe children eagerly await the rest of the films\, which have been scheduled over the next few weeks. \nThe film screening is an effort towards making our children aware and sensitized about vital social issues\, and inculcate in them strong values that they can uphold throughout their lives\, growing up to be responsible citizens and change makers. SUMMARY:Smile kids celebrate Children's Day with Rajhans Vidyalaya students
DESCRIPTION:Rajhans Vidyalaya\, Mumbai\, invited children from Smile Foundation’s Mission Education centre SHED to celebrate Children’s Day in a unique way. 600 students from the school as well as kids from the centre took part in a walkathon\, as an effort to encourage the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan\, which began from the school and covered all the neighbourhood areas. The children were joined by teachers from the school\, the Principal\, Mrs. Deepshikha Srivastava\, and representatives from Smile Foundation\, and everyone enthusiastically pledged to make India clean and green. \nLater\, the Principal personally distributed gifts like cricket bats\, badminton kits\, carom boards\, chess boards and many other games to the Smile kids\, along with beautifully created recycled notebooks. \nOne of the youngest girls from the Mission Education centre cut a symbolic cake to mark Children’s Day\, which was enjoyed by all the children. The Rajhans Vidyalaya students also shared lunch with the Smile kids at their school mess. \nSuch interactions between the privileged and underprivileged children are encouraged under Smile Foundation’s Child for Child (CFC) programme\, which seeks to bridge the gap between children from the two worlds.

Faisal\, who entered small screen through a dance reality show\, became popular for his portrayal of Maharana Pratap on a telly show. \nDuring the visit\, Faisal shared incidents from his own childhood with the kids and listened to them talk about their lives. He distributed chocolates to the children\, played games with them and also taught them a few dance steps\, and dialogues from his show. Pledging his support for the Mission Education campaign\, he talked about the importance of education with the children and shared how they can balance their studies with their talents.

DESCRIPTION:300 students of Hansraj Public School\, Andheri\, Mumbai\, from class 6th to 8th attended the inaugural screening of the film Halo as part of Smile Foundation’s initiative\, in partnership with the Children’s Film Society of India\, of screening value based films for school children across India. \nMrs. Jayashree Desai\, Supervisor of Hansraj Public School in Andheri\, Mumbai inaugurated the film screening. She also lit the auspicious lamp along with few students and Smile Foundation’s CFC representative from Smile Foundation Mr. Someshwar Nair. \nMrs. Desai spoke about Smile Foundation’s work and explained to the students how the films can be beneficial in their lives. The students were curious and excited to watch the rest of the films.

SUMMARY:Workshop on Life Skills and Values at CIPS Kapsi
DESCRIPTION:A workshop on Life Skills and Values was conducted at the Central India Public School\, Kapsi\, in Nagpur\, Maharashtra under Smile Foundation’s Child for Child programme. More than 100 students from Class 8th to 10th participated actively in the workshop\, along with the school teachers and Principal Mr. Rajendra Mishra\, who also inaugurated the workshop. \nThe three-hour workshop covered issues central to any student’s life\, like Effective Communication (Listening & Hearing)\, Social Skills & Etiquettes\, Positive Attitude\, Setting Goals and Time Management. Various engaging activities were conducted and examples were shared with the students to help them understand the importance of these key life skills and values. To ensure that the students do not forget this as a one off session\, they were given follow-up exercises to assess their own life skills and the areas that need improvement. Sneh Thakkar\, a Class 10th student\, took up the responsibility of getting the exercise done and sharing the responses with the teachers. \nThe Principal Mr. Mishra assured to continue with this process of sharing and learning realizing that this is a long drawn process and one or two workshops won’t suffice. The students also expressed their desire to learn more and requested further sessions.
