SUMMARY:20 Health Camps in association with NSIC
DESCRIPTION:Twenty health camps were conducted by Smile Foundation in various parts of Delhi NCR in association with National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC). This initiative is part of an Integrated Community Development Project started by Smile Foundation and NSIC and was launched in December 2011. This project focuses at the holistic development of the underprivileged living in slums of Delhi NCR\, through education\, healthcare and women empowerment. \nThese health camps that were conducted provided curative\, preventive\, promotive and referral healthcare services to the people. OPD services for prevalent common ailments\, growth check-ups for children\, treatment for malnutrient cases\, dispensing of medicines for common ailments\, dental check-ups and eye check-ups were mainly the services that were made available in these camps. \nThey were conducted in 20 different slums across Delhi NCR\, namely – Rangpuri\, Tuglakabad\, Dhaula Kuan\, Mansarovar Park\, Rohini\, Sunder Nagri\, Sastri Nagar\, Jahangir Puri\, Kalyanvas\, Tilpath\, Majnu Ka Tila\, Gurgaon\, Motiya Khan\, Khori Kingsway Camp\, Jahank Puri\, Bhalaswa\, Tahirpur\, Wazirpur\, Nand Nagri and Faridabad. \nAll the health camps received overwhelming response from the people. As many as 5021 people were benefited. \nThe objective of conducting these health camps was to create awareness of general health among the people\, providing general health care services and counseling them\, on basic healthcare and hygiene. \nMajority of people were diagnosed with various common but seriously neglected problems such as diarrhea\, cholera and cataract in the eyes. There were also a few cases\, detected with major health problems; these cases were further referred to the referral hospital.

They described the journey of an order. Ms. Namita explained the process flipkart follows from the time of taking the order to delivery of the items. They explained the responsibility of employee for packing and dispatching. \nThey also explained the importance of security in the organisation. He also showed the level of security they follow in their organisation. \nMr. Gaurav described the job profile of the opening in their company\, he also explained the internal recruitment process and asked the students to participate in the interview \nAll student were very happy and enrich with the knowledge of flipkart internal recruitment process\, so that they can prepare them self in advance\, and apply whenever flipkart have new vacancies.

DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation organised a sensitizing campaign Suraksha and Swabhiman (Security and Dignity) at Jantar Mantar\, as an effort to sensitize male members of the society and to ensure their participation for making the society safer and friendlier for the women. \nIn past some days the rate of women harassment and abusing has worryingly increased and serious concerns have been raised about the increasing instances that compromise woman’s security and dignity. \nSpeaking on the occasion Mr. H.N. Sahay- Director Smile Foundation stated\, “When we talk about safety and dignity of women\, we cannot ignore the roles of the male members in our society. They are brothers\, neighbors\, co-workers\, strangers\, and this is just about any men. If our men are sensitized and play their role wherever they are\, we can make our society a better place for women.” \nIn order to intensify the issue and find a proactive solution in the form of sensitizing and involving men\, Smile Foundation conducted the campaign named Suraksha and Swabhiman(Security and Dignity) A few young boys and girls came together symbolically to show the way towards making a safer and better place for women. \nThe youth came from all walks of life enthusiastically participated in the campaign. \nThe campaign included some sensitizing activates like slogan writing\, street play\, poems\, one-act play\, caricatures\, etc. related to the issues of safety\, security and dignity of women highlighting the fact that how proactively involvement of men can improve the situation. \nPledges were raised for making the society a safer place for women.

SUMMARY:Ramp for Champs - A successful second season
DESCRIPTION:Ramp for Champs is one of the many innovative initiatives that Smile Foundation has undertaken to promote the cause of education for underprivileged children. It was the time in the year again when Smile Foundation along with Prestige Group organised a celebrity fashion show – Ramp for Champs 2012 accompanied with fashion guru Prasad Bidapa hosted by ITC Gardenia. The primary objective of this fashion show was to raise resources to educate less privileged girl child beneficiaries. Along with Prestige Group other corporate who joined hands for this inititaive were Air France\, Tusker Harley Davidson\, Aircel\, Reliance Trends and Reliance Timeout to name a few. \nThis year Ramp for Champs had special focus on the girl child. Celebs made the evening even more special by walking the ramp with the kids. To name a few celebrity faces who came out and out to extend their support to the venture were Dr.Kamini Rao (Medical Director\, Bangalore Assisted Conception Center)\, Ms. Ameera Shah (Managing Director and CEO of Metropolis Healthcare Ltd)\, Ms.Geetanjali Kirloskar (Kirloskar Group)\, Mr. Pieter De Man (General Manager\, Airfrance / KLM Indian Subcontinent) \, Ms. Uzma Irfan and Zaid (Prestige Group)\, Srinivas Reddy (Tusker Harley Davidson )\, Jija Hari Singh\, Syed Kirmani\, Kavitha Lankesh\, Pooja Gandhi\, Sumalatha\, Chitarajan Dar\, Paresh Lamba\, Anu Datta\, Harish Bijoor\, Polyanna Patel\, Kavita & Ajay VijIla Naidu and Ranjan Biswas. \nThe kids were super excited as they got very good drapes and gifts sponsored by Reliance Trends and Reliance Timeout respectively. DESCRIPTION:On 6th April’12 Prayatn Sanstha\, Jaipur conducted one Exposure visits for their STeP students at COMCO outlet of Hindustan Petroleum. 17 STeP students along with their centre administrator took part in this event. \nAs a part of the curriculum under Smile Twin e-Learning Programme\, the visit is initiated to provide a better perceptive of working environment to the students. The students received a very warm welcome from the staffs and were briefed about how to fill station which operates right from procurement of the fuel to delivery to its customersand payment. Details including eligibility criteria\, selection norms\, and training and expansion opportunities in the company were shared with the students. The main objective of organizing the program is to make the students well acquainted with the present working culture of various sectors and helping them to choose the better career option according to their preferences. The visit initiated for the students was considered as a best way for learning through their exposure.

They were briefed about Retail and mall environment Information was provided on every shop which was located in the mall and students were also told about the working style of particular shop and maintaining the discipline in same way. The Following are some which students visited in \n1. Big Bazaar \n2. McDonalds \n3. Movie time Cinema \nSuch valuable and important information was shared with students during the Exposure visit. Students got familiar with the atmosphere of retail and were very satisfied and happy on their visit to the mall which provided them lots of knowledge. DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation & Audi recently joined hands to organise a charity fundraising event at the Audi Showroom in Gurgaon. The event was mainly about exhibiting Indian Art & raising resources for charity by auctioning them. \nSpeed painter Vilas Nayak from India’s Got Talent fame\, created two paintings\, one among which was auctioned and the proceeds were given to Smile Foundation for its Mission Education programme. \nSpeaking about the association between Audi and Smile Foundation\, Mr. Mikey Tode Director- Sales and Marketing Audi stated; “We at Audi Gurgaon strongly believe in the principal of giving back to the community. The Smile Foundation is a wonderful initiative that truly does bring a smile to the face. We are extremely proud to be associated with them and we hope to support their work through any contribution we can.”

SUMMARY:Smile Health Camps with TechShastra
DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation in association with TechShastra organised three Smile Health Camps for making healthcare affordable and accessible to the underprivileged slum dwellers in three slums of Delhi and Mumbai namely Tuglakabad and Rangpuri Pahari (Delhi) and Sion Koliwada (Mumbai). \nThese health camps that were conducted provided preventive\, promotive\, curative and referral health care services to the people who have less medical facilities available for them. \nDuring the camp It was found that in the communities most people suffer from skin infections\, fever\, cold & cough\, dehydration\, anemia and malnutrition which anyway are common diseases but seriously neglected by the people who are busy earning livelihood for themselves. \nThe doctors provided immediate treatment and gave proper medication to all the people who attended the camp. Growth check-ups for children\, treatment for malnutrition cases\, medicines for common ailments\, dental check-ups and eye check-ups were some of the services that were provided. Some people were diagnosed with serious health problems which further were referred to the referral hospitals. A total of 771 people were benefited from these health camps. \nSmile health camp teams also conducted sensitization activity within the community to sensitize the people on common preventable health problems and to improve the health and hygiene of the people residing there.

SUMMARY:Mother's Day celebration with Fever 104 FM
DESCRIPTION:On the occasion of Mother’s Day children beneficiaries of Smile Foundation were invited by Fever 104 FM in Delhi and Mumbai\, to join the radio crew and celebrate the special day by dedicating it to their mothers. \nThe children were given a brief educational tour of the studio by DJ Avinash in Delhi and DJ Urmin in Mumbai. They were given a real time experience about how a radio station works and how different people are involved in the making of a radio show. The children also recorded messages for their mothers and recited some self-composed poem thanking and appreciating their Mother’s contributions in their lives. \nThese messages and songs were played on air for the entire day.

This book was published on Zohra Segals’s 100th birthday. \nSpeaking for the occasion Kiran fondly shared some memories – “My mother has been strict all these years. She used to take me to Prithviraj Theatre after my school hours and also put to dance sessions. I used to hate it. But when I look back I realize how my mother has relentlessly shaped me as a person over all these years”.

Divya G Medar chief executive of KRISNA BHOG PVT Ltd took an interactive session with the 25 students where they groomed the students about the process of different food products and also discussed about the ongoing roles and responsibilities of the organisation. It was mainly for the purpose of giving them an exposure to the market. where the interaction was interactive as a result the visit came as a great motivation to the group of beneficiaries who were positive about the future scenario. \nThey also mentioned about the vacancies available in Gachibowli and Kuakatpally Centre. Student’s enthustically participated and had an enormous learning experience.The students were very excite about the visit.

SUMMARY:Smile for girl child at the World 10K Bangalore Marathon
DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation participated in the World 10K Bangalore Marathon and campaigned for the cause of girl child education. This was the first marathon for the Garden city and saw huge participation from the Bangaloreans. Participating in marathons is an effort from Smile Foundation to bring the privileged mass on a single platform to support a cause. And to make them aware that a proactive effort can bring difference in lives of many who are less privileged. \nSmita Kalappa\, National Director-Child For Child\, Smile Foundation speaking about the participation said\, ” We made an honest effort to sensitize people about a very alarming issue of education for the girl child\, we encouraged people to make a fitter tomorrow by understanding their social responsibility as an individual and connect with the cause close to their heart .We encouraged people to be the change. As an event this certainly is a great way to make us think that it’s time we be one and bring the change.” \nSmile acknowledges the gesture individuals showed in supporting the cause.

SUMMARY:Integrated Community Development project in Guna\, Madhya Pradesh\, launched
DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation with support from Gas Authority of India Limited has started an Integrated Community Development project in the state of Madhya Pradesh. This project is operational in five villages of the state namely – Ahmedapur\, Bublakhedi\, Bawarikheda\, Chainpura and Padarkheri\, of Guna district. The project operation for Guna district was launched in May 30\, 2012. \nThis integrated project is focused on providing education to the underprivileged children and primary healthcare services to the people\, especially children and women in the identified areas. The project in Guna district will be providing education to over 200 children through bridge education and remedial education centers. Along with this\, it will also provide healthcare to over 1000 people in the district through regular health camps. \nDuring the launch of the project a health camp was conducted and uniforms\, books and bags were also distributed to the children already enrolled in the project.

Ltd. – the makers of the famous cartoon character Chota Bheem\, PVR cinemas arranged the film’s screening in all five cities. \nChota Bheem is one of the most loved cartoon characters among kids today and the children were thrilled to meet their favorite cartoon character which they had seen only on TV before. After the screening kids got the opportunity to shake legs and click pictures with Bheem. \nThe event was certainly very exciting for the children and so was the movie.

She spent the whole day there and interacted with the children and motivated them to follow their dream and work hard to achieve them. The children put up a special show for Vanya where they performed group dances\, songs and plays for her. Thrilled with the talent of the children\, Vanya also joined them in their dance performance. \nSharing her experience about the visit Vanya Mishra stated “It always feels great to celebrate the spirit of childhood. I see the spark to excel amongst all the kids and I will be more than happy to be associated with them in whatever way I can.” Further adding to the same she said “The kind of work and effort that Smile Foundation is putting in to bring joy and happiness in the lives of these underprivileged children is commendable. DESCRIPTION:On 22nd June 2012 at Bandra in Mumbai\, 11 students from Smile STeP center Desh Seva Samiti were invited to an event organized by UMEED project called ‘Umeed ke Rang’ on Friday & Saturday (22-23 June\, 2012). Various stalls with interesting information highlighting social issues in innovative ways were there. Game stalls allowed children\, youth and women to participate in exciting and yet meaningful activities. DESCRIPTION:STeP\, JSS Mumbai organized a Exposure visit and placement interview for the students of Smile Twin E Learning program at Career Foundation situated in Bandra\, Mumbai on dated June 22nd\, 2012. 18 students and 2 teachers were part of the visit along with the Smile representatives. Many eminent persons like Mr. Naseemshah\, Mr. Deshpande\, Ms Reshma (social worker) and many NGO have actively participated in it. \nAs part of the curriculum under Smile Twin E Learning program\, the visit is initiated to provide a better understanding of working environment to the students. The students keenly observed and analyzed the overall program and the result was very motivating as it encouraged them to choose the right direction in their life. Many companies Tata AIG\, Reliance Fresh\, Eureka Forbes\, and Dominos Pizza were present to give job opportunities to the students in which many of them got selected. At the end the students were provided with best of knowledge and thanked Smile Foundation for initiating the program and giving them a chance to enhance their goal.

DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation became the charity partner in Kalpitatva\, an art festival held at Alliance Francaise in Delhi. The event intended to showcase the work of art and rejoice the magic of music. To elevate the cause taken up and to motivate the forthcoming artists\, noted painter Arpana Caur and Dr. Kiran Walia\, Minister for Health and Family Welfare\, Women and Child Development\, inaugurated the exhibition and were the chief guests for the event. \nAmong paintings from various amateur artists of the city\, drawing from children beneficiaries of Smile Foundation were exhibited in the event. Celebrity artist Arpana Caur guided Prashant\, a budding painter from Smile Foundation to imitate one of her famous Gautam Buddha paintings. Along with this\, all the participating painters and the children from Smile Foundation got together to paint a scroll for Smile on a big canvas to celebrate the existence of art and opportunity. \nAll the proceeds generated from sales of the paintings will be given to Smile Foundation for the education of its children beneficiaries.
