As part of the initiative\, IHS Markit has provided a fully equipped medical van\, one of which will cater to select locations in suburban Gurugram and Noida. \nThese medical vans will provide regular health check-ups\, basic pathological tests and doctor consultation. As part of the mandate\, the doctors and paramedics also hold awareness sessions in the community to sensitize the locals on health and hygiene issues. \nThe Smile on Wheels programme has so far provided free healthcare services to more than 10 lakh children and families. \nSmile Foundation is an NGO in India directly benefitting over 750\,000 children and their families every year\, through more than 350 live welfare projects on education\, healthcare\, livelihood and women empowerment\, in over 1000 remote villages and slums across 25 states of India.

SUMMARY:NDTV joins hands with Smile Foundation to launch Banega Swasth India campaign
DESCRIPTION:The first 45 days of motherhood is the most crucial time for both mother and the newborn. In order to promote the health and hygiene of mother and child in the most underserved\, remote and rural areas of the country\, Smile Foundation in partnership with NDTV and Dettol India\, launched the Banega Swasth India campaign. \nA complete kit designed especially for the health needs of a mother and a newborn\, was unveiled by Bollywood actor Mr. Amitabh Bachchan\, who gladly announced a donation of a 100 of these ‘Swasth Boxes’ to give a kick start to the campaign. The kit has been developed based on technical know-how and years of on-ground experience of working with less privileged and hard to access communities\, which will support the health and hygiene needs of the mother for 45 days\, a time extremely crucial for both the new mother and new born. \nTo spread awareness the ‘Swasth Box’ has a small booklet that covers topics of Lactational Amenorrhea and other family planning methods\, Colostrum feeding\, exclusive breastfeeding\, cord care\, hand washing technique\, danger signs for new born\, nutrition for mother. \nSmile Foundation is an NGO in India directly benefitting over 750\,000 children and their families every year\, through more than 350 live welfare projects on education\, healthcare\, livelihood and women empowerment\, in over 1000 remote villages and slums across 25 states of India.

DESCRIPTION:Adolescence is a tender age. Children on their journey to adulthood are often confused with the massive biological changes they are going through at this stage in their lives. There is a need for guidance\, especially from those who can help them better understand their own mindsets\, the rapid hormonal changes and its impact. Students at this age\, are usually also found battling with peer pressure and seek direction on how to handle them. \nLooking at various opportunities available for adolescent kids at this time in their lives\, Subhash Montessori School in Madhya Pradesh invited the Child For Child team of Smile Foundation to spread awareness among its students regarding Substance Abuse and Creating Self Esteem. Ms. Richa Sahay from Team Smile conducted two hour workshops for each of these activities. Addressing a total of 200 students\, she emphasized about the wisdom to use gadgets\, gave clarity on how to combat fear and develop self-confidence. Filled with small exercises and thinking activities\, the children were given ample time to analyze various behaviors and choose the best for themselves. \nThis interactive experience became quite insightful for them\, as their interest was reflected in their enthusiastic participation in raising various questions and observations from time to time. Excited and full of energy\, around 400 participants became a part of this noble cause. \nEducation is not only a ladder of opportunity but also an investment in our future. The enthusiasm of employees from three corporates- Schindler India\, IHS Markit and R1 RCM -was a sight to behold. With placards in their hands\, they ran so children who cannot afford education\, may go to school. \n“Running for a social cause creates so much of excitement & encouragement in everyone. In support of Every Child In School\, we are trying to add the classroom of quality education for underprivileged children.”- said an employee from R1 RCM. \nThis is what the team of IHS Markit had to say- “Education lays a strong foundation for every dream & is important for everyone. With this goal in mind\, we have joined hands with Smile Foundation in support of #EveryChildInSchool campaign. We are running for education of the less-privileged children.” \nThe marathon turned out a huge success as everyone encouraged and showed unlimited enthusiasm for the education of children. SUMMARY:Fifth Edition of Smile International Film Festival concludes amid much fanfare
DESCRIPTION:The fifth edition of the week-long celebration of Good Cinema – Smile International Film Festival for Children and Youth (SIFFCY) started on the 9th of December and ended on the 15th of December 2019 at the Siri Fort Auditorium in New Delhi. SIFFCY 2018 showcased 150+ critically acclaimed films from more than 50 countries to an audience of over 20\,000 children. \nThe occasion was graced by the super excited school children across Delhi/NCR\, SIFFCY Chairman Santanu Mishra (Co-Founder Smile Foundation)\, accompanied by Festival Director Jitendra Mishra and the eminent jury including John Stevenson\, Julia Jarl\, Mitsuo Tahira\, Felix Vanginderhuysen\, Judita Soukupová\, Michael Harbauer\, Josep Arbiol\, Mohsen Chiniforoushan\, Paméla Bisson\, Ratnottama Sengupta\, Utpal Datta\, Johnson Thomas\, Hilde Steenssens\, Kim Sang-Hwa\, Mama Marlaine and Daniel Lundquist. \nSIFFCY 2019 also witnessed celebration of Czech Day wherein screening of multiple Czech films\, creative workshops\, interactive sessions and much more was conducted. This was an effort to exchange art\, culture\, tradition and values through cinema and strengthen the cultural relationship between the nations of Czech Republic and India. A workshop in ode to Karel Zeman’s work of animation was organized by volunteers of Embassy of Czech Republic. Students from Mission Education Programne were educated on animation techniques of Karel’s era in this workshop. \nWorkshop on Emotional Literacy and film-making workshops were conducted for the children. Conducting a workshop on Film-Making\, Mr. Rasul demonstrated the importance of ‘perspective’ in reference to 3 short films directed by him and encouraged the eager listeners to think differently. The screenings were followed by a round of some thought-provoking questions by the children about becoming an artist and the challenges faced during its course. Mr. Rasul was very happy to inspire the children to rack their imagination and train themselves to think creatively. \nThe festival’s success was made possible with support from various partners which included international organizations like ECFA\, CIFEJ\, Youth Cinema Network\, Wild Geese Foundation\, and Embassy of the Czech Republic. The festival partners were Schlingel\, Zlin film festival\, Buff International film festival\, Mice\, Kineko\, Biky\, Kinolub\, Cinekid\, B.F.I Film Forever\, Filem’on\, La matatena\, CMS Vatavaraan and Juniorfest. DESCRIPTION:PhonePe in collaboration with Give India has joined hands with Smile Foundation for the cause of education of underprivileged children. PhonePe has launched its Donations category\, and Smile Foundation is among the first few NGOs to be featured on the donations category on the portal through this partnership. \nOn PhonePe\, giving will be at the fingertips of everyday people who can now donate to educate a child. This brings Smile Foundation and PhonePe closer to the collective dream of simplified giving of everyday people. \nSmile Foundation is an NGO in India directly benefitting over 750\,000 children and their families every year\, through more than 350 live welfare projects on education\, healthcare\, livelihood and women empowerment\, in over 1000 remote villages and slums across 25 states of India.

SUMMARY:International Women's Day Celebration\, "Project Save Gender" Held in Nagpur
DESCRIPTION:On the eve of International Women’s Day\, Celebrations were held in our local project at Nagpur\, “Project Save Gender” in Hardik Convent\, Omkar Nagar\, Nagpur. \nThe celebrations were graced by our National Director-CFC\, Ms Monica Mor\, Mr Mahesh Baxi-Chief Manager-CFC and Jitendra Deshmukh-RH-CFC-Central. \nDirector of the Mahila and Bal Sarankshan Sanstha\, Dr Mrs Vandana Benjamin was in the chair. \nThis project was initiated with the help of Smile Foundation\, in 2016. We awarded them one sewing machine and since then we have been supporting them by giving one sewing machine every year. Now the project has 27 machines since its foundation and more than 100 women have successfully completed a 3 months certified course of sewing. It has empowered more than 100 homemakers and girls\, to earn their livelihood by grooming their sewing skills. The project also designs and stitch clothes for the new born and these clothes are given to the poorest of the poor infants born in the nearby Government Medical College\, Nagpur. \nThe objective of the project is to empower the home makers and the slum dwellers from nearby the school and the said site of the project. \nAround 20 home makers who had developed their sewing skills through this centre participated in today’s event\, along with the students of the school. They all were felicitated by Ms Monica Mor. \nWe were all welcome by Dr Vandana Benjamin and she placed the mission of their foundation. \nThis project is the local initiative and intervention by the Central CFC team and developed through ISP.

SUMMARY:Smile on Wheels sensitizes people on steps to be taken during the ongoing pandemic Covid-19
DESCRIPTION:The world and our country are witnessing the worst epidemic breakout since the Spanish Flu in 1918. Corona virus disease or Covid-19 that broke out in Wuhan\, China in late December 2019. The virus has since then claimed the lives of more than 13\,000 people and affected 318\,000 people across the world. \nAt a time when most of the states of India are heading towards complete lockdown\, the healthcare workers around the country are on ground to treat the affected and the taking care of the exposed. The health care workers of Smile on Wheels who are on the field every day to spread awareness about the novel Covid-19 and reach out to the people living in urban slums\, rural areas\, and remote locations. More than 180 health workers in 38 SoW units are plying across 17 states in the country. \nThis rapidly spreading pandemic can only be contained by individual efforts at the moment. The people living in extreme poverty and unhygienic conditions are the most vulnerable. Not only are they do not have the complete knowledge of the right way to protect themselves against the disease\, they may fail to reach for the necessary treatment. \nAddressing this crucial requirement of the hour\, Smile on Wheels health agents are motivated to reach to every person and make him/her aware of the critical situation that we as a nation are facing with the motto that together with the selfless dedications and individual contributions through practicing hygiene and social distancing\, we all can contain this disease. \nThe Smile on Wheels programme has so far provided free healthcare services to more than 10 lakh children and families. \nSmile Foundation is an NGO in India directly benefitting over 750\,000 children and their families every year\, through more than 350 live welfare projects on education\, healthcare\, livelihood and women empowerment\, in over 1000 remote villages and slums across 25 states of India.

SUMMARY:Smile Foundation's Child for Child department's national campaign: "Students say….Let's Win the Fight over Corona"
DESCRIPTION:The nationwide CFC Campaign for inviting entries on the theme of ‘Let’s win this fight over Corona’ turned into a monumental success not just in terms of showcasing extraordinary artistic potential our children hold\, but also because it helped many of our young friends channelize their energies towards productive thinking during lockdown and keeping stress and anxieties at bay\, thus maintaining sound mental health. \nThe selection process was rigorous. All entries were first put through a plagiarization check and then a check for various specific parameters. Scoring was done and the shortlisted entries were shared with an external jury. The final result was declared on the 22nd of April’20. Prizes will be distributed after schools reopen whenever the lockdown is removed. \nWe would like to congratulate all the participants\, as every piece of art is special in its own way. \nThousands of entries\, hundreds of cutting-edge artists and a few were chosen out among the best of the best to be declared as winners! We extend our external judges a special note of thanks to Ms. Sangeeeta Kumar Murthy – Juror for Paintings & Cartoons: she is a practicing artist for the past 25 years and has been felicitated numerously for her contribution to Indian Art. She was one of the artists to be encouraged by the President of India and is a recipient of Kala Ratna Samman 2005. And Ms. Shivani Wazir Pasrich – Juror for Essays & Poems: She is currently Director of The Study School\, She is an extremely versatile actor\, storyteller\, theatre artist and a prominent emcee. She won Miss India World title in 1992 and has since donned many hats while also being associated with various social causes. \nThe Winners List is as follows- \n \nPlease also note that-\nThe result declared by the jury is final and is subject to no further deliberation.\nDigital certificates for all participants will be emailed to them within 15 days.
