DESCRIPTION:On 20th Jan 2011 exposure visit took place in Mumbai STeP center SHED\, at Oberoi mall which were situated in Goregaon. The total number of benefited student was 13\, at the level of entry into the mall Mr. Sushil gave brief objectives & idea to the students regarding that exposure visit. In mall there were various shops but the student visited only the required shops such as: electronic shops. \nStudents were very excited to explore the new knowledge regarding i-pods\, LCD’s\, LCD’s etc\, few of the boys was quite interested towards the technical tools and their applications operation. Student got change to meet Croma executive who gave them the detail and sufficient information regarding the electronic products. As per we know technical knowledge always attracts the new generation. At the end the students got the best Knowledge and were satisfied with the visit.

DESCRIPTION:The official inauguration of Health and Nutrition initiative at ZP Primary School at Nandurkhandarmal\, Ahmednagar was held on the 3rd of July 2016. The project includes providing milk and biscuits every morning to the students of ZP Primary School. Because of this initiative there has been a considerable increase in the number of children attending school every day and improved health conditions due to intake of milk has also been noticed in the children. \nThe Sarpanch of the village Mrs. Suandabai Bhagwat was the chief guest. Also present was School Management committee President Nitin Sambhaji Bjagwat\, Head Master Ganesh Karbhari Wagh\, Upsarpanch Mr. Dnyaneshwar Supekar as well as all other leaders of the village\, who lauded the efforts\, made by Smile Foundation for the betterment of the children.

SUMMARY:Airbus Group supports new Smile on Wheels in Delhi
DESCRIPTION:Airbus Group has joined hands with Smile Foundation to provide doorstep healthcare services in the slums of North-Delhi under the Smile on Wheels mobile hospital programme. The SoW started its full-fledged field operations on the 4th of July’ 2016. This is the 6th Smile on Wheels project in Delhi-NCR\, and takes the fleet of mobile hospitals operational across India to 24. \nThe intervention will make health-care amenities accessible in the slums and resettlement colonies of Jahangirpuri\, Wazirpur area of North Delhi. The vehicle is equipped with a qualified doctor\, nurse\, lab technician\, pharmacist and a driver\, to be overall administered by the Project Coordinator. Besides medical consultation\, the beneficiaries will also be provided with free of cost medicines and lab testing facilities. The partnership will directly benefit over 11\,880 beneficiaries during a span of nine months.

SUMMARY:Awareness Campaign for education held for people in remote area
DESCRIPTION:An awareness campaign on education was held in Ganganagar\, Dhalai district\, Tripura. More than 100 students\, youth\, parents and community people participated in the program. The people of these areas deserve support as they have less access to any kind of information the area being one of the remote areas. The programme was held to make more people aware of the benefits of education and encourage them to join the Mission Education centre there. After initialization of this project more students are coming in the center very regularly and the attendance of the students in the centers are up to the mark now.

DESCRIPTION:United Service Institution of India\, it’s an institution with expertise in the field of national security and matters pertaining to the defense service. The Institution in partnership with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) launched a project called ‘India Remembers’. The project aims to develop a community outreach and education program to engage with a wider segment of society to encourage them to Remember\, Honor and Commemorate the Indian soldiers who fell in the two world wars\, as well as the many military conflicts\, post independence. \nSmile Foundation has partnered with USI and has participated in the launch of “India Remembers” project. The high profile event witnessed participation of senior defense officials\, National security advisor to Prime minister\, Members of Commonwealth War Graves Commission (UK) and the ex-servicemen. Children from Smile Foundation recited a poem in remembrance to Indian Soldiers and were appreciated widely by the audience.

DESCRIPTION:A new SoW project\, Chitradurga was launched at Haliyaru village\, Karnataka on the 22nd of July\, 2016. Mineral Enterprises Limited (MEL) has joined hands with Smile Foundation for the implementation of this SoW project. A small Puja was done before starting the operation of SoW. \nAfter the Puja of SoW and ribbon cutting\, the OPD was started. On first day total 55 patients of Village Haliyaru and 65 patients from the village of Malapanahatti reaped benefits of the services of the SoW project and appreciated the team for this endeavor.

SUMMARY:Ericsson Global employees spend a day with Smile Foundation children
DESCRIPTION:On 25th July 2016\, Ericsson Global India Pvt. Ltd. celebrated their CSR Day at their office premises in Gurgaon. They invited 25 children of Smile Foundation to be a part of it. There were approximately 20 employees who participated in the activity. The activity started with a brief introduction of the employees and children and the purpose of the activity. This was followed by some ice-breaking sessions wherein\, the children were asked to make paintings and perform dance on various songs. Children were then taken for an office tour wherein they went to different floors and interacted with more employees and played games like musical chair etc. Also\, there was a cake cutting ceremony with the employees and children. The children were taught value education through various stories and tales. \nThe employees explained the business of their organization and also took them through their data center and showed the children the various machines through which they work. This was followed by some more engaging activities and lunch. The employees also gave gifts to the children. The children were extremely glad to receive the gifts and the overall activities which were conducted.

DESCRIPTION:To mark the beginning of World Breast Feeding Week a rally was flagged off under the theme BREASTFEEDING: A KEY TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT. The rally was organized to promote optimum breastfeeding practices and to create peer support for breastfeeding mothers. \nThe programme was inaugurated by the guests Dr. Ravikumar\, MO of Hegganahalli PHC; Dr. Sharadha\, President of Ekatha Charitable Trust; Mrs Santham Vice- Principal of M S Ramaiah Institute of Nursing College and Mr Adhitya\, Faculty In charge of the college. \nThe other programmes included two role plays which were conducted by the nursing students at Ekatha Samudaya Bhavana and the in PHC premises. \nA mela was also organized at the Primary Health Premises. The total number of participants in the rally was 210 of which 120 were nursing students and 18 Asha workers\, anganwadis and teachers. The total number of audience at the mela was 70. Men also participated in the mela to raise awareness about the issue. After the mela and the rally the participants were provided lunch at the Samudaya Bhavana.

DESCRIPTION:Smile foundation celebrated World breast feeding week from the 1st of August 2016 to 7th August 2016 in the Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh at two villages named Rishikash and Rohin in collaboration with the Health and Women and Child Welfare Department. The programme also included different stake holder such as PRIs\, NHM Bilaspur Team\, Aganwari and Asha workers. A total of 250 people participated in the programme. The women were made aware of the benefits of breast milk for the baby and the importance of nutritious food for the women during this period and the importance of family planning was also discussed for better health conditions of women. The participants were greatly benefitted from the event.

SUMMARY:Triumph Freedom Ride to support girl child education
DESCRIPTION:For the second consecutive year\, Triumph Motorcycles India joined hands with Smile Foundation and dedicated the 15th of August i.e. Independence Day to the cause of child education. Commemorating 70 years of India’s independence\, Triumph Motorcycles customers from all over the country came together to “Ride for Freedom” and raise awareness and support for the education of children under Smile Foundation’s Mission Education programme. \nThe event was held across twelve major cities of India including Delhi\, Mumbai\, Kolkata\, Bengaluru\, Hyderabad\, Chennai\, Pune\, Kochi\, Chandigarh\, Ahmedabad\, Indore\, and Jaipur. Each rider contributed by pledging his support towards the cause before beginning the ride. The rides were flagged off from the Triumph Dealership stores of the respective cities and culminated back at the dealerships. \nInitiated in 2002\, Mission Education is Smile Foundation’s flagship programme providing basic education and healthcare to underprivileged children\, with the belief that education is both the means as well as the end to a better life because it empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood while also increasing one’s awareness on a range of issues; in the process helping him/her evolve as a better citizen.

DESCRIPTION:A computer literacy centre for the children was inaugurated on the occasion of Independence Day at Indore. Twenty children are currently enrolled in the centre. The centre is providing basic computer education in two shifts one in the morning and the other in the evening. The first half of the classes is mainly for theoretical studies and the second hour is utilized for practically teaching the kids about various computer applications and how to put theory to use.

DESCRIPTION:91 career counselling sessions were held for students from various STeP centres in the states of Mumbai\, Chennai\, Kolkata and Bengaluru\, Pune and Hyderabad. Personals from various professions and backgrounds interacted with the students on various topics such as personality development\, soft skills and their future career. Sessions were also taken up on development of confidence\, facing interviews\, decision making & to take up jobs in their field of interest. The students were greatly benefitted from these sessions which also helped them in motivating the students to go forth with different career choices.

DESCRIPTION:A value education workshop was conducted at KES Dr. Govindrao Raje English Medium Primary School. Roha. It was one of a kind experience for the Principal\, teachers and the students of the school as they have less access to such kinds of workshops in general. Over 500 students from class V to VII participated in the value educational and motivational workshop. \nThe students were thrilled to hear someone speak about values and also be inspired to perform better academically. The teachers were also inspired and they thought that this type of workshop will have a positive impact on the students to become more responsible and thrive to excel academically.

SUMMARY:Hand-washing Workshop conducted at Army Public School
DESCRIPTION:Keeping our hands clean is one of the most key steps in order to avoid spreading of germs and keeping healthy because hands are the most exposed part of one’s body. \nA workshop was conducted on 31 Aug 2016 on the importance of hand washing in which the students were explained the importance of it. The children were also explained how bacteria spreads through our different sense organs. The workshop aimed at making children aware about different ways of washing hands and the importance of using soap or hand wash. \nA practical demo was also given for a better understanding of washing hands properly\, to the children. The children enjoyed the session and learnt a valuable lesson through the workshop.

SUMMARY:ME students participate in Prathibha Karanji Competitions
DESCRIPTION:Prathibha Karanji is an initiative of Govt of Karnataka\, every year they organise inter-school competitions at taluk level and district level. Children of Need Base India and Rainbow Home for Girls participated in Prathibha Karanji competitions and won prizes in dance\, extempore and essay writing. The children were facilitated with certificate and trophy by the Education Department. \nStudents from class 5th to class 8th of the Mission Education centre Sukrupa participated in several competitions and won prizes.

SUMMARY:General health camp conducted at Saraswati Camp
DESCRIPTION:A General Health camp was organised in Saraswati Camp\, Munirka in collaboration with National Service Scheme (NSS)\, IIT Delhi. The residents are generally daily wage workers who cannot afford to lose a day’s wages and most of the time it comes at the cost of their health. A total no. of 151 patients were treated in the camp. Blood tests\, haemoglobin tests for women\, tests for preventable maladies like diarrhoea\, malaria etc were conducted. A group of 15 Volunteers from the NSS participated in the program. Mr. V.B.S.S. Reddy (Secretary\, NSS) praised and appreciated the efforts of Smile on Wheels mobile hospital to provide doorstep healthcare service to the underprivileged people residing in slums areas.

DESCRIPTION:Volunteers and members of Smile Foundation participated in the recently concluded Maha Cleanathon held at Mumbai. Mega star Amitabh Bachchan \, Prasoon Joshi \, Shaina Nc were also seen participating in the event. Teachers\, students\, volunteers and other people associated with Smile Foundation have all pledged to give 2 hours a week to all its 100 Mission Education centres to spread awareness around cleanliness and hygiene. The weekly pledge is to dedicate 40000 hours across 100 Mission Education centres.

SUMMARY:Exposure visit organized for students form Mission Education centre at Bilaspur
DESCRIPTION:Mitwa Mahila Kalyan evam Seva Samiti organized an exposure visit to All India Radio program “Aao Bacchon” in Bilaspur on the 16th of September 2016 from the Chakarbhatha Center. through this program the children are given lessons on how to perform better during the program. The children were taught the correct way to recite poems\, sing local song and group songs. Also the children are taught about child rights\, to save the environment and to keep their homes\, schools\, ground and city clean. Every new student is assessed at the time of joining the learning centre. Children enjoyed their time a lot in Akshwani Center at Bilapsur.

SUMMARY:Life Skill workshop conducted for adolescent boys
DESCRIPTION:A life skill workshop was conducted for adolescent boys on the 25th of September. The trainer started the program and explained the meaning and necessity of life skill and its importance for one’s existence. He also explained the characteristics of life skill to the adolescent boys with examples. He focussed on changes\, both physical and psychological that the body in adolescent stage goes through. \nThe trainer also taught the adolescent boys about inter personal skills\, how to communicate with various people in their personal and professional life. Group games and ice breaking sessions were conducted so that the boys could ask questions without feeling shy. At the end of the session\, the trainer talked about mental well-being. She advised yoga and proper sleep as a good gesture. Also she advised them to develop useful hobbies/skills such as reading general knowledge books\, physical exercises\, drawing\, gardening\, participating group games\, which will help them to shape their near future.

SUMMARY:Street Play conducted on the topic health and hygiene
DESCRIPTION:On 20th September street play was conducted on the topic of Importance of family planning at Calcutta nagar by a professional team of 8 people. \nThe play started with the mobilization of the community. The street play team shared the objective of this gathering. They briefed the people about the topic and enacted in front of the gathering. The Title of the play was “Health and Hygienic” which revolved around the story of a family which was not hygienic and frequently fell sick due to that and also lost their daughter in one such bout of illness. The play set a good example to the people present and made them more aware to maintain hygiene.
