SUMMARY:Exposure Visit at Mananda Dairy
DESCRIPTION:On June 12th 2015 students from the STeP Center Dr. Ambedkar Sethi Vikas Va Sanshodhan Sanstha \, went to Maharashtra Rajya Sahakari Dudh Mahasangh Maryadith’s “Mahananda Dairy” at Chinai Marg. Mr. Milind Das extended a warm welcomed to all the students and briefed them about the development of dairy. Mr. Prakash Haryan along the unit explained to the students\, the various steps involved in the packaging of milk. \nNext he explained how the milk is brought to the unit from various unions in thermalized tankers and subjected to a number of tests before it is selected for packaging. Students were shown how the milk was subjected \,pasteurized and homogenized before packaging and storing at 40 C. He also showed the process of preparing Ghee and Shrikhand. \nStudents were very happy after the visit and also thanked to Mr. Milind Das and Mr. Prakash Haryan for arranging the exposure visit.

SUMMARY:Exposure Visit at Pantaloos
DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation organized an exposure visit for the students of Smile Twin e-Learning Programme (STeP) at Select City Walk at Saket in New Delhi. On 19th June 2015 students from STeP center BAL VIKAS DHARA \, went to Pantaloos show room . Total of 36 students along with Center Coordinator were present during the visit . The HR manager of the store explained about retail sector and briefed the ways how to sale the products \, how to impress a costumer \, how to communicate with costumers. \nDuring the visit students interacted with the employees of pantaloos show room and asked questions on retail sector. students were able to understand the procedure of work and were able to clarify their doubts about what exactly is needed to get a job at the retail sector. The students were very motivated through the outcomes of the visit.

DESCRIPTION:On June 20th 2015 Step students of Society for Human & Environmental Development \, were taken for an exposure visit to Pressto Dry Cleaners & Laundry in Andheri(west) in relation to their retail management.During the visit 20 students were benefited with the best knowledge of retail management. HR manager Mr. Amar Shripadi and the Pressto staff explained to the hole dry cleaning process and laundry system. \nStudents were showed whole dry cleaning process and the other process such as packaging in which there were two types normal packaging and bag packaging. at the end of day the students were able to relate what they were taught in the class regarding the retail sector.

SUMMARY:Exposure Visit - Big Bazaar
DESCRIPTION:On June 20th 2015 and June 23rd 2015 students from the step center Janhit went to Big Bazaar at Netaji Subhash Place in Delhi. A two days exposure visit has been conducted to orient the student about retail marketing. Total of 30 students\, center coordinator and the retail management instructor were present during the exposure visit. \nFirst of all students visited the whole store and Senior Executive Mr. Ganga explained their job responsibilities and also shared job duration .After that the students visited the billing counter and watch the process of billing and bar code which is marked on the product. After that students visited help desk counter and watched silently the customer queries and and reply of the executives. \nLastly he explained the students about the process of recruitment and he also explained process of product selling. All the students enjoyed the exposure visit.

SUMMARY:Life Skill Training for 25 Swabhiman scholars and mentors
DESCRIPTION:Role model for the younger children in their community\, 25 meritorious girls were awarded scholarships by Smile Foundation under its Swabhiman programme after they completed their primary education with excellence\, despite coming from difficult social and economic circumstances. They are either in high schools or colleges and have been receiving the scholarships for three years now. Professor Nisar Ahmed and Ms. Varsha Chanda\, both experts in training\, communication and capacity building\, joined the Swabhiman team in conducting the training. Such trainings\, workshops and exposure visits are conducted regularly for the Swabhiman scholars to help them hone their overall personality\, along with enhancing their academic performance\, to help open up maximum opportunities for them.

Total of 38 students along with 3 Faculties and Chief Functionary of Amba Foundation Ms. Jyoti Sarwal from the center were present during the visit . HR consultant Ms.Tishu Kohli explained with practical orientation of payment counter \, and how to maintain their products price \, discount and also customer dealing operations. \nThen she explained the different kinds of selling techniques \,basic term of products and scenario of marketing strategy and boost in retail sector for man power to the students. \nAfter seeing all things students ask questions and queries to ratail & sales. students were able to understand the procedure of work and were able to clarify their doubts about what exactly is needed to get a job at the retail sector. The exposure visit was very encouraging and students were very happy after the visit.

DESCRIPTION:Smile on Wheels mobile hospital project has been launched in Hyderabad\, Telangana\, with support from the United Health Group (UHG). Benefitting 18 slums and resettlement colonies in the city\, the project aims to take preventive\, curative\, promotive and referral healthcare services to the doorsteps of the marginalized children and families. \nComing into action the very first day\, the Smile on Wheels team in Telangana organized the maiden camp at Khanameta slum\, near Shilparamam. The slum is home to rag pickers and migrant labourers\, living in highly congested\, unhygienic and vulnerable surroundings. \nThe leadership team of UHG including Sri Akula (Vice President – Technology Engineering)\, Nishid Sachdeva (Senior Director – Global Sourcing & Delivery Operations & Centre Head)\, Kshitiz Kashyap (Sr. Director – Human Resources)\, and Saikumar Chintareddy (Associate Director)\, flagged off the new Smile on Wheels\, along with representatives from Smile Foundation. \nThe mobile hospital is staffed with a qualified doctor\, nurse\, lab technician\, pharmacist\, community mobilizer and project coordinator. Besides medical consultation and diagnosis\, the people will also be provided with free of cost medicines and lab testing facilities. Emphasis will be given to preventive and promotive measures\, to cultivate a health-seeking behaviour in the community. Specialized health camps will supplement the mobile hospital as and when required. \nDuring the next one year\, the project will be directly benefitting more than 19\,500 people.

DESCRIPTION:125 children from Dhobaru\, Ranisayer\, in Burdwan district of West Bengal took out an early morning rally on the importance of conserving our environment\, cleanliness in their community and health. The children covered five villages of the Kanska block. Enthusiastic slogans such as “Ekti Gach Ekti Pran\, Gach Lagan Pran Bachan” (One Tree One Life\, Plant a Tree Save a Life) were used to spread awareness along with creative placards. This shows how the children under the Mission Education campaign are bought up as responsible citizens along with being educated.

The centre is home to more than 60 orphan children who are provided shelter\, nutrition\, education\, and most importantly love and care. \nWith an aim to raise awareness about importance of education\, the players interacted with the children and gave them various tips and secrets of playing cricket which left the children with big smiles on their faces. After a brief cricket match amidst lots of fun and laughter\, the players motivated the kids to perform well in their studies so that they too have a bright future. \n“The fact that our presence there made the children so happy and they were smiling the whole time\, makes us elated and excited\,” said Anna Peterson\, an all-rounder from the team.

DESCRIPTION:Supported by Siemens under Sanjeevan mobile clinic project\, Smile on Wheels has reached Madhepura a remote village in Bihar where people do not have access to basic healthcare. An yearlong of operations benefitted 18\,196 children and their families. It covers the villages of Sahugarh – I\, Sahugarh – II\, Chakla\, Sripur\, Mithai\, Naya Nagar\, Bhatu Tola\, Balam\, Sikhasan and Sabila in Madhepura and Ghailadh blocks of Madhepura district. Based on the need of the areas\, Smile Foundation has developed a three-pronged approach which is being adopted for this region. DESCRIPTION:A play which carried a message that if girls and women are educated\, empowered and have a health-seeking behavior\, they can help their children and families become healthier and happier too was conducted by popular theatre group Kalashibara in Mayuranagar\, Bengaluru\, as part of Smile Foundationâ€™s Swabhiman program. Starting with the Kannada song â€˜kudiyode nan halumaadiduâ€™\, the play was about promoting positive family values and the role women can play in this direction. The effects of the habit of drinking on the health and socio-economic conditions of the whole family and the growth and education of children were highlighted. It was highly appreciated by the audience\, with the women resolving to voice their opinions and participate in the family decision making process.

SUMMARY:Exposure Visit at Vishal Mega Mart
DESCRIPTION:On 27th July\, 2015 students from STeP center Mera Pariwar\, Gurgaon went to Vishal Mega Mart. Total of 30 students were present for the visit. Mr. Pradeep Rana\, Managing director\, Vishal Mega Mart\, interacted with the students and shared the skill of managing customer. He also gave some important facts of retail management. While visiting the clothes section; they observed that the items were divided into separate sections which help the customer to locate an item soon. The mart not only had food items but also personal care and home care products. The students were asked to take a walk around the aisle and observe the placement of items. After observation\, students asked their question which were promptly answered by the floor manager. \nAt the billing counter the students were detailed about the working of a bar-code machine and were further demonstrated how an item is billed and about the details that are printed on a bill. The students were happy and learned many new things through this visit and look forward to get an employment in this sector.

Assistant manager Mr. Subodh shared techniques & experience with them like how to manage customers\, how to present product. \nAfter seeing all things students asked their queries related how to exchange a product\, how can they apply for job in Big Bazaar\, how they handle a customer’s if customers asked for some kind of discounts. The exposure visit was very motivated.

DESCRIPTION:Designers Archana Kochhar and Farah Sanjana joined hands to support girl child education at the 9th edition of Smile Foundation’s charity fashion initiative ‘Ramp for Champs’ on Sunday. \n60 achievers from all walks of life got together on the ramp with children from Smile Foundation\, the real “champs” of the show. Proceeds from the event went towards the education of girl children\, under Smile Foundation’s Mission Education programme. \nThe evening was marked with some mesmerising performances by Abhiruchi Singh\, Sandip Soparrkar\, Shayok Banerjee and Bharucha School of Ballet. The purpose behind the initiative was to spread awareness on Corporate Social Responsibility and recognize the leaders in the field.

DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation has launched five Mission Education centres Tuttihatta village\, Daragoan village\, Himali Goan\, Rocky villa and Dagbonglow to bestow these children the power of education\, care and hope. The projects also aim to prevent them from falling into the trap of child labour owing to poverty and from the vulnerability of trafficking. Hill Social Welfare Society has enabled Smile Foundation to connect\, design and launch these projects in Darjeeling. New classrooms\, benches\, chairs\, almirahs etc greeted the surprised children. . Playing facilities such as football\, badminton\, toys\, and puzzle sets along with teaching-learning materials have also been introduced in the centres.

The children surprised the employees by their creations which encompassed elements of space like Volcano Eruption\, Solar Planet\, Animal Cell etc. Heart to heart discussions\, interactions\, story-telling and lesson-sharing sessions followed\, as Adobe employees bonded with the children. The visit proved to be a fun learning experience for not just the kids\, but also for the employees.
