SUMMARY:20 Health Camps in association with NSIC
DESCRIPTION:Twenty health camps were conducted by Smile Foundation in various parts of Delhi NCR in association with National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC). This initiative is part of an Integrated Community Development Project started by Smile Foundation and NSIC and was launched in December 2011. This project focuses at the holistic development of the underprivileged living in slums of Delhi NCR\, through education\, healthcare and women empowerment. \nThese health camps that were conducted provided curative\, preventive\, promotive and referral healthcare services to the people. OPD services for prevalent common ailments\, growth check-ups for children\, treatment for malnutrient cases\, dispensing of medicines for common ailments\, dental check-ups and eye check-ups were mainly the services that were made available in these camps. \nThey were conducted in 20 different slums across Delhi NCR\, namely – Rangpuri\, Tuglakabad\, Dhaula Kuan\, Mansarovar Park\, Rohini\, Sunder Nagri\, Sastri Nagar\, Jahangir Puri\, Kalyanvas\, Tilpath\, Majnu Ka Tila\, Gurgaon\, Motiya Khan\, Khori Kingsway Camp\, Jahank Puri\, Bhalaswa\, Tahirpur\, Wazirpur\, Nand Nagri and Faridabad. \nAll the health camps received overwhelming response from the people. As many as 5021 people were benefited. \nThe objective of conducting these health camps was to create awareness of general health among the people\, providing general health care services and counseling them\, on basic healthcare and hygiene. \nMajority of people were diagnosed with various common but seriously neglected problems such as diarrhea\, cholera and cataract in the eyes. There were also a few cases\, detected with major health problems; these cases were further referred to the referral hospital.

SUMMARY:Smile Health Camps with TechShastra
DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation in association with TechShastra organised three Smile Health Camps for making healthcare affordable and accessible to the underprivileged slum dwellers in three slums of Delhi and Mumbai namely Tuglakabad and Rangpuri Pahari (Delhi) and Sion Koliwada (Mumbai). \nThese health camps that were conducted provided preventive\, promotive\, curative and referral health care services to the people who have less medical facilities available for them. \nDuring the camp It was found that in the communities most people suffer from skin infections\, fever\, cold & cough\, dehydration\, anemia and malnutrition which anyway are common diseases but seriously neglected by the people who are busy earning livelihood for themselves. \nThe doctors provided immediate treatment and gave proper medication to all the people who attended the camp. Growth check-ups for children\, treatment for malnutrition cases\, medicines for common ailments\, dental check-ups and eye check-ups were some of the services that were provided. Some people were diagnosed with serious health problems which further were referred to the referral hospitals. A total of 771 people were benefited from these health camps. \nSmile health camp teams also conducted sensitization activity within the community to sensitize the people on common preventable health problems and to improve the health and hygiene of the people residing there.

SUMMARY:Mother's Day celebration with Fever 104 FM
DESCRIPTION:On the occasion of Mother’s Day children beneficiaries of Smile Foundation were invited by Fever 104 FM in Delhi and Mumbai\, to join the radio crew and celebrate the special day by dedicating it to their mothers. \nThe children were given a brief educational tour of the studio by DJ Avinash in Delhi and DJ Urmin in Mumbai. They were given a real time experience about how a radio station works and how different people are involved in the making of a radio show. The children also recorded messages for their mothers and recited some self-composed poem thanking and appreciating their Mother’s contributions in their lives. \nThese messages and songs were played on air for the entire day.

This book was published on Zohra Segals’s 100th birthday. \nSpeaking for the occasion Kiran fondly shared some memories – “My mother has been strict all these years. She used to take me to Prithviraj Theatre after my school hours and also put to dance sessions. I used to hate it. But when I look back I realize how my mother has relentlessly shaped me as a person over all these years”.

Divya G Medar chief executive of KRISNA BHOG PVT Ltd took an interactive session with the 25 students where they groomed the students about the process of different food products and also discussed about the ongoing roles and responsibilities of the organisation. It was mainly for the purpose of giving them an exposure to the market. where the interaction was interactive as a result the visit came as a great motivation to the group of beneficiaries who were positive about the future scenario. \nThey also mentioned about the vacancies available in Gachibowli and Kuakatpally Centre. Student’s enthustically participated and had an enormous learning experience.The students were very excite about the visit.

SUMMARY:Smile for girl child at the World 10K Bangalore Marathon
DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation participated in the World 10K Bangalore Marathon and campaigned for the cause of girl child education. This was the first marathon for the Garden city and saw huge participation from the Bangaloreans. Participating in marathons is an effort from Smile Foundation to bring the privileged mass on a single platform to support a cause. And to make them aware that a proactive effort can bring difference in lives of many who are less privileged. \nSmita Kalappa\, National Director-Child For Child\, Smile Foundation speaking about the participation said\, ” We made an honest effort to sensitize people about a very alarming issue of education for the girl child\, we encouraged people to make a fitter tomorrow by understanding their social responsibility as an individual and connect with the cause close to their heart .We encouraged people to be the change. As an event this certainly is a great way to make us think that it’s time we be one and bring the change.” \nSmile acknowledges the gesture individuals showed in supporting the cause.

SUMMARY:Integrated Community Development project in Guna\, Madhya Pradesh\, launched
DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation with support from Gas Authority of India Limited has started an Integrated Community Development project in the state of Madhya Pradesh. This project is operational in five villages of the state namely – Ahmedapur\, Bublakhedi\, Bawarikheda\, Chainpura and Padarkheri\, of Guna district. The project operation for Guna district was launched in May 30\, 2012. \nThis integrated project is focused on providing education to the underprivileged children and primary healthcare services to the people\, especially children and women in the identified areas. The project in Guna district will be providing education to over 200 children through bridge education and remedial education centers. Along with this\, it will also provide healthcare to over 1000 people in the district through regular health camps. \nDuring the launch of the project a health camp was conducted and uniforms\, books and bags were also distributed to the children already enrolled in the project.

Ltd. – the makers of the famous cartoon character Chota Bheem\, PVR cinemas arranged the film’s screening in all five cities. \nChota Bheem is one of the most loved cartoon characters among kids today and the children were thrilled to meet their favorite cartoon character which they had seen only on TV before. After the screening kids got the opportunity to shake legs and click pictures with Bheem. \nThe event was certainly very exciting for the children and so was the movie.

Thrilled with the talent of the children\, Vanya also joined them in their dance performance. \nSharing her experience about the visit Vanya Mishra stated “It always feels great to celebrate the spirit of childhood. I see the spark to excel amongst all the kids and I will be more than happy to be associated with them in whatever way I can.” Further adding to the same she said “The kind of work and effort that Smile Foundation is putting in to bring joy and happiness in the lives of these underprivileged children is commendable. DESCRIPTION:On 22nd June 2012 at Bandra in Mumbai\, 11 students from Smile STeP center Desh Seva Samiti were invited to an event organized by UMEED project called ‘Umeed ke Rang’ on Friday & Saturday (22-23 June\, 2012). Various stalls with interesting information highlighting social issues in innovative ways were there. Game stalls allowed children\, youth and women to participate in exciting and yet meaningful activities. DESCRIPTION:STeP\, JSS Mumbai organized a Exposure visit and placement interview for the students of Smile Twin E Learning program at Career Foundation situated in Bandra\, Mumbai on dated June 22nd\, 2012. 18 students and 2 teachers were part of the visit along with the Smile representatives. Many eminent persons like Mr. Naseemshah\, Mr. Deshpande\, Ms Reshma (social worker) and many NGO have actively participated in it. \nAs part of the curriculum under Smile Twin E Learning program\, the visit is initiated to provide a better understanding of working environment to the students. The students keenly observed and analyzed the overall program and the result was very motivating as it encouraged them to choose the right direction in their life. Many companies Tata AIG\, Reliance Fresh\, Eureka Forbes\, and Dominos Pizza were present to give job opportunities to the students in which many of them got selected. At the end the students were provided with best of knowledge and thanked Smile Foundation for initiating the program and giving them a chance to enhance their goal.

Celebrity artist Arpana Caur guided Prashant\, a budding painter from Smile Foundation to imitate one of her famous Gautam Buddha paintings. Along with this\, all the participating painters and the children from Smile Foundation got together to paint a scroll for Smile on a big canvas to celebrate the existence of art and opportunity. \nAll the proceeds generated from sales of the paintings will be given to Smile Foundation for the education of its children beneficiaries.

They took a relevant understanding about Floor Management\, Security Operations\, House Keeping and various seasonal events. The beneficiaries keenly observed the whole program and had an immense learning experience for them to excel in their life.

DESCRIPTION:On 30th June 2012 30 students were taken an exposure visit to “ORBIT MALL”. Discussed about foreign retail sector in India as well as Indian retail sector in foreign Country Ms Sarita had taken the students to the Mall and she introduced them to the Manager. They visited Barista and KFC and Sarita introduced the students to the different outlets. The students went around and got a lot of information on Barista and KFC. The students interacted with the staff and learnt how to talk to customers. This visit was arranged in the afternoon. Sarita apprised the Manager of ORBIT Mall the details of the course conducted by SMILE Foundation. The Management was very happy with the course that we are conducting and promised to contact us as and when there is a vacancy. \nThey were shown how they take care of customers and how to take orders. They interacted with the staff and cleared all the doubts they had.

It offers complete range of general insurance products that includes insurance for automobile\, home\, personal accident\, travel\, energy\, marine\, property and casualty as well as several specialized financial lines. \nMr. Vilas explained the process of joining the TATA AIG.He said if anyone wants to join the company than he/she has to attend 7 days training which is provide by TATA AIG.After training the candidates should give the exam which is conduct by Government. \nThe aim of the organizing this visit to get placement to the students.Main job offered is to become Insurance agent of the Tata AIG after providing proper training from the Company.

DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation has associated with the prestigious Children Film Society India (CFSI)\, as the Outreach Partner for their feature film Gattu. \nIn order to support the journey of Gattu Smile Foundation organised a special screening of the feature film at Film Division of India\, in Delhi. This screening was conducted especially for school principals\, teachers\, Smile’s NGO partners and children beneficiaries. \nPresent for the screening were Director Rajan Khosa and Creative Head of CFSI Monica Wahi\, along with Santanu Mishra\, Co-Founder and Executive Trustee of Smile Foundation and Jitendra Mishra\, Advisor Media Advocacy of Smile Foundation. \nGattu is the story of a street urchin whose passion for flying kites gets him into stickiest of situations. He takes up big challenges with neither money nor education on his side\, with the determination of fulfilling his dreams. After being premiered at the Children’s Film Festival in Hyderabad\, the movie has already won awards at the prestigious 62nd Berlin Film festival\, the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) and the 12th New York Indian Film Festival. Then it travelled to various film festivals at Beijing\, Cannes\, Toronto and Edinburgh. It has been invited in competition category for Asia Pacific Screen Awards as well. \nSmile Foundation had ventured into the platform of films with its 22 national and international award winning film I am Kalam. Smile’s prime objective of using this medium is sensitization of the masses about the dream of every child to go to school. Exposure visits gives practical knowledge about chain of retail business to students\, which is very useful. Through exposure visit students are given a broad view about retail industry.Students were taken by a separate cab. Mr. Guru Hr head of M/s. Café coffee day Chennai office welcomed students and students in turn thanked him started to give self introduction. Mr. Guru gave a brief speech about his concern and students gave good response for his speech eagerly. \nFollowed by student’s interaction with him. As every students was very keen to know about his concern they raised many question about his company and their business\, how they sell their products\, how they attract their customers\, the way they treat the each customer was explained. Each and every student was very keen to know entire things carried there. \nImpact: \nThis programme helped to eradicate the state of unemployment among socially and economically weaker sections of the society. With the help of smile twine-e-learning programme Arunodhaya provided livelihood opportunities to the marginalized people.
