DESCRIPTION:I am Kalam was screened at the 5th Indo-German Film Festival in Bangalore\, as one of 10 best film from India. This film festival was organised by The Goethe-Institute and Max Mueller Bhavan-Bangalore\, under the motto of: ‘Two nations – a single screen’. The Festival is being held in collaboration with The Bavarian State Government\, the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern\, Germany and Suchitra Film Society\, Bangalore. And\, showcased 10 German and 10 Indian feature films under the banner of Germany & India 2011–12 Infinite Opportunities. \nThe objective of the screenings was to showcase the nature of art in German and Indian cinema. The screening of the films included Kannada & children films. This festival provided a platform to cineastes and members of the film industries to interact and network. Many German and Indian high- profile film delegates\, including directors\, producers and casts\, attended the Film Festival. \nThe critically acclaimed film “I am Kalam” produced by Smile Foundation\, was selected as one of the best 10 films from India. Executive Trustee and Co-Founder of Smile Foundation and Producer of I am Kalam Mr. Santanu Mishra and Mr. Jitendra Mishra\, Associate Producer of I am Kalam were also at the festival.

The actor commenced his ambassadorship by supporting the education of 50 beneficiaries of Smile Foundation as his individual social responsibility. A day before the main event Rajeev personally visited the educational projects of Smile Foundation\, to spend time and interact with the kids. The children were thrilled with Rajiv’s presence. The actor interacted and motivated the kids to continue their studies and achieve what they aspire to be. Rajeev was very happy to see the confidence of the children\, and congratulated Co-Founder and Executive Trustee of Smile Foundation – Mr. Santanu Mishra for doing this great job. \nAlong with Rajeev Khandelwal\, corporate like Air France\, Fasttrax Restaurant\, Mirch Media\, and colleges like IIT Delhi\, Delhi School of Professional Studies and Research (DSPSR) and SRM University also supported Smile Foundation in the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon. This was the second time when Smile Foundation participated in the marathon with an aim to sensitize maximum number of people for the cause of education. Reebok India also associated with Smile Foundation for Airtel Delhi Half Marathon and provided fitness gear for the event. \nRajeev Khandelwal supported Smile Foundation to influence more and more people to bring the needed change in the lives of underprivileged children. Talking about his support the actor stated “I understand my social responsibility as an individual and compulsory education of children is the cause that I really connect with. I say so because education is the only solution to all kinds of social evils in our country and it still continues to be the biggest challenge to overcome.” \nSmile Foundation acknowledges Rajeev’s gesture towards his individual social responsibility for spreading a few Smiles.

The team had come to know about the unique delivery model of Smile on Wheels and wanted to find out the impact that Smile on Wheels programme is making. \nThe team was taken to Rangpuri kacchi basti\, New Delhi – one of the project centres of the programme. The ECU team spent some time in the mobile hospital to see the work process. They also interacted with the patients. The team made a tour of the whole community and interacted with the slum dwellers there. The ECU students also distributed chocolates among the children beneficiaries of Rangpuri Basti. \nThe visit turned out to be very successful. The ECU team appreciated and congratulated SOW team for their work towards the community.

SUMMARY:HIV/AIDS Eradication chain initiative from Smile Foundation
DESCRIPTION:On the occasion of World Aids Day\, December 1\, 2011 Smile Foundation’s Girl Child and Women Empowerment initiative\, Swabhiman\, organised an HIV/ Aids eradication campaign in the Shri Ram J.J. Camp in Delhi. This campaign was conducted with the support from Population Foundation of India (PFI) and Lotus Herbal. The aim of the camp was to sensitize the community dwellers about the cause and cure of HIV/AIDS. Community women & adolescent girls and boys joined Swabhiman health volunteers in sensitizing the community dwellers. \nProf. Mohini Bhattacharya\, Director\, National Institute of Health and Family Welfare graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Ms. Parul from PFI and Dr. Ira\, Project Director of Health & Care were also present as special guests. Various sensitizing activities like poster making\, slogan writing and street plays designed to sensitize whole community including women\, men\, adolescent girls and boys towards the causes and prevention of HIV/ AIDS. \nThe guests of honors also had some healthy discussion with the community women and adolescent girls about Aids Eradication. The sensitized women and girl child also gave their opinions in the formation of eradication process. \nThe whole event turned out to be very successful in terms of the sensitizing the community dwellers and also building an invaluable relationship with the corporate partners. \nCounselors having a counselling session with the Swabhiman beneficiaries \nPopulation Foundation of India (PFI) is a national non-government organization at the forefront of policy advocacy and research on population issues in the country. SUMMARY:Sensitizing health camp by Smile Foundation for the truck drivers on the occasion of World AIDS Day
DESCRIPTION:“We are blessed with kind people like you\, who provide everything free of cost to us and who take care of our health.” – stated one of the beneficiaries benefitted from the health care camp \,Smile Foundation conducted for the truck drivers and their helpers at Transport Nagar- GT Karnal Road\, Delhi under their Smile on Wheels programme. \nDecember 1\, 2011\, On the occasion of World AIDS Day\, Smile Foundation sensitized several truck drivers about the HIV/ AIDS problems. The main objective of the camp was to educate “Uneducated and Underprivileged Truck Drivers and Their Helpers about HIV/AIDS Problems”. \nThe event was conducted at the highway where there is a big footfall of truck drivers. The event started with a screening of a sensitizing A/V about the prevention and advocacy on AIDS. The doctors also counseled the beneficiaries about the AIDS preventive measures. And also distributed male contraceptives with informative leaflets and pamphlets. \nBesides a sensitizing event an eye check-up camp was also conducted for the participating beneficiaries. About 192 participants participated in the event. 110 patients were examined in the general health check up camp and were given free medicines and contraceptives; 80 patients were attended in the eye check up camp and were given free spectacles who were detected with weak eye sides. \nThe event was a big success. Each and every beneficiary benefited\, acknowledged Smile Foundation’s efforts to sensitize the urban and rural group that travels across the country.

Lead actors of Smile Foundation’s feature film I am Kalam\, National Award winner Harsh Mayar and Husaan Saad also participated in the cyclothon JIMS have taken this step under their CSR initiative Karmaarth. \nSpeaking about the initiative Mr. Harish Nandan Sahay – Director\, Smile Foundation\, said “At Smile Foundation\, we work on development initiatives and sensitization initiatives simultaneously. We at Smile believe\, that sensitization of people is crucial in getting individual participation in bringing about desired social change. And we keep making such innovative efforts in order to grab attention and individual participation of maximum number of people towards causes like education for children\, empowering girls and women\, livelihood for youth and healthcare especially for women and children.”

SUMMARY:20 Health Camps in association with NSIC
DESCRIPTION:Twenty health camps were conducted by Smile Foundation in various parts of Delhi NCR in association with National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC). This initiative is part of an Integrated Community Development Project started by Smile Foundation and NSIC and was launched in December 2011. This project focuses at the holistic development of the underprivileged living in slums of Delhi NCR\, through education\, healthcare and women empowerment. \nThese health camps that were conducted provided curative\, preventive\, promotive and referral healthcare services to the people. OPD services for prevalent common ailments\, growth check-ups for children\, treatment for malnutrient cases\, dispensing of medicines for common ailments\, dental check-ups and eye check-ups were mainly the services that were made available in these camps. \nThey were conducted in 20 different slums across Delhi NCR\, namely – Rangpuri\, Tuglakabad\, Dhaula Kuan\, Mansarovar Park\, Rohini\, Sunder Nagri\, Sastri Nagar\, Jahangir Puri\, Kalyanvas\, Tilpath\, Majnu Ka Tila\, Gurgaon\, Motiya Khan\, Khori Kingsway Camp\, Jahank Puri\, Bhalaswa\, Tahirpur\, Wazirpur\, Nand Nagri and Faridabad. \nAll the health camps received overwhelming response from the people. As many as 5021 people were benefited. \nThe objective of conducting these health camps was to create awareness of general health among the people\, providing general health care services and counseling them\, on basic healthcare and hygiene. \nMajority of people were diagnosed with various common but seriously neglected problems such as diarrhea\, cholera and cataract in the eyes. There were also a few cases\, detected with major health problems; these cases were further referred to the referral hospital.

SUMMARY:Students of Benhur Public School get a special screening of I am Kalam
DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation in association with Benhur Public School Pilibhit (U.P.) organised a special screening of the most critically acclaimd and a National Award Winning feature film “I AM KALAM” at the Behnur Public School Plibhit auditorioml on December 23\, 2011. Thousands of students participated and enjoyed the movie and thereby contributed for the cause of underprivilged children. I am Kalam has come to be the most critically acclaimed film of the year\, and as intended has been successful in entertaining and simultaneously sensitizing the people. \nThe school‘s Principal\, Manager and Teaching staff appreciated this effort and gave their feedback saying that these kinds of movies and activities are helpful for them as a subject of moral studies. Students also enjoyed and got inspired. \nIt is the first feature film ever to be produced by a development organization Smile Foundation and has so far won 19 national and international awards including the 58th National Award for the hero of the film\, twelve years old Harsh Mayar. The film follows a fable like narrative\, somewhat like The Prince and the Pauper friendship which adds to its universal appeal.

DESCRIPTION:Initiates an Integrated Community Development Project in Delhi NCR \nNational Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC) has partnered with Smile Foundation for an Integrated Community Development Project in Delhi NCR. This is an innovative initiative focused at the holistic development of underprivileged slum dwellers in five slum areas of Delhi NCR – in Dhaula Kuan\, Chattarpur\, New Ashok Nagar\, Shashi Garden and South City II (Gurgaon). This project will target a population of over 80\,000 residing in these areas. And will focus mainly on education for children\, empowerment of women & adolescent girls and providing healthcare services to the community dwellers. This Integrated Community Development Project is an initiative of NSIC – an ISO 9001-2008 certified Government of India Enterprise under Ministry of Micro\, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME). \nThis Integrated Community Development Project is targeting over 36000 direct beneficiaries. \nThis Integrated Community Development Project is being implemented in a three-fold approach – education of children\, empowerment of women & adolescent girls and providing healthcare services to the people residing in the target areas. Talking about the vision behind supporting this initiative Dr. H.P. Kumar – Chairman cum Managing Director of NSIC stated\, “Working for the development of the less privileged has always been an important aspect of the way we function and work. Hence when Smile Foundation approached us with the concept of having an integrated development project\, we immediately committed our support. With this project we are not focusing on just one aspect of development but are trying to address the major needs for sustainable development of the less privileged in the country. The focus on an all round and holistic development of the people is what is required to bring about sustainable development and this is the most special thing about this project. We are happy to have partnered with Smile Foundation and hope that with this partnership\, we will be able to achieve our vision of bringing about growth and development of the less privileged.” \nNSIC is an ISO 9001 – 2008 certified Government of India Enterprise under Ministry of Micro\, Small and Medium Enterprises. SUMMARY:Employee Engagement Activity
DESCRIPTION:On 24th of December\, an Employee Engagement Activity was organized by Smile Foundation in association with G.E Private Limited\, Gurgaon with STeP students of Adarsh Sewa Samiti. There were a total of 21 students from the STeP center. The session started with students enquiring about the problems they face while being interviewed by an employer. These problems varied from hesitation\, under-confidence\, and inability to speak English etc. There were 10 employees from GE who mentored 2 students each for about an hour. In this one on one mentoring session\, students asked their respective mentors all the questions related to what they want to be in life. After this session\, A feedback session was held after the mentoring session in which STeP students gave their feedback about the change that they felt after talking to their respective mentors. They emerged as more confident individuals after this whole session.

DESCRIPTION:Radio One 94.3 made some less privileged kids Smile this Christmas. Children from Smile Foundation were invited to be a part of Christmas celebration at the Radio One 94.3 FM Mumbai. The children participated in various fun- filled activities like singing songs\, creating greetings\, shared about their dreams and aspirations. \nThe surprise began when Neil Nitin Mukesh arrived at the radio station. Kids were thrilled with his presence. He also interacted and enjoyed with the kids. He spent some quality time with the kids asking about their hobbies and dreams. The children had fun with the actor with lots of music\, songs and activates. The kids also gifted him handmade cards which they had specially made for Neil Nitin Mukesh. The kids also cut a Christmas cake with the actor. \nRadio Jockeys’ Shruti\, Jiya\, Prachi and Mihir played the songs of kid’s choice during the show. Representative of Smile Foundation sensitized the listeners about the work of Smile Foundation. The kids also got the opportunity to go on air live and sing their favorite songs and wish New Year to the listeners. \nSmile Foundation acknowledges and appreciates the support of Radio One 94.3 for making the little kids smile.

SUMMARY:Rakhi and Janmashtami celebration by Smile children
DESCRIPTION:Smile’s Mission Education centre in Noida\, supported by Samsung HOPE project\, organised a Rakhi making competition along with Shri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations. \nRakhi making competition was filled with lots of fun. Children; by using mirrors and small stones made beautiful Rakhi’s. Along with this the students celebrated Lord Krishna’s birthday with gaiety and splendour. The programme began with singing and dancing performances by students followed by a small play on Lord Krishna’s life. All the students were dressed in the traditional costumes of Lord Krishna and Radha. It was a great moment of togetherness and communal harmony and everybody enjoyed both the activities together.

He also said Eureka Forbes is super brand company . \n30 students from JSS were there to be part of the group session After selection in the interview the candidates will get Rs.4500 per month in hand plus incentive as per the sales. Mr. Melvin also explains the incentive structure while selling per then they will get Rs.100 per product and after that it depends on their performance. He also shared some past case studies of the Eureka employees. Few employees have also got the incentive in the term of Bike. Mr. Melvin also said that Eureka Forbes believes in 4 major step in the life that is Earn\, Learn\, Fun and Pride. Student asked others job profile in Eureka Forbes.Mr.Melvin said we have other job also but candidate should be graduate for the post of market activator. All students were happy and given good respond to Eureka Forbes employers .

SUMMARY:I am Kalam screened for the students of Maharaja Sawai Man Singh Vidyalaya\, Jaipur
DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation in association with Maharaja Sawai Man Singh Vidyalaya\, Jaipur organised a special screening of Smile Foundation’s feature film I am Kalam in the school. The screening was conducted for three days for different class groups in order to sensitize all the children about social disparities and needs of underprivileged children. \nAltogether hundreds of children along with teachers & other staff of the school were sensitized towards the cause of education. All the staff members appreciated Smile Foundation’s efforts in sensitizing the children towards the cause. \nI Am Kalam is again an initiative by Smile Foundation in order to sensitize the privileged masses. I Am Kalam is the first ever feature film to be produced by a development organization.

SUMMARY:Exosure Visitp & Placement-Vardhman Yarns
DESCRIPTION:On 24th January\, 2012 at Vardhman Yarns\, Mandideep with the objective to show the functioning of the factory as well as to explore the job opportunity available there for them. Total 21 students (13 girls & 8 boys) took part in this visit Mr.Munish Jain\, Programme Officer & Mr.Avdhesh Patel\, MIS Officer\, FPAI-RTC along with Mr.Manoj Vishwakarma\, Computer Teacher\, Smile Programme accompanied the students in the visit. \nAt the factory premises Mr.Himanshu Tiwari\, Officer P& IR department explained & showed the Thread making process to the students. He briefed about each & every machinery which are being used to make the thread from the cotton. Students selected in this recruitment process and placed as a Trainee in the production unit. \nStudents learnt a lot through this exposure visit\, The girl students who got their placement in Vardhman group were very excited to join the company. They were saying “This opportunity will definitely change their future & they are feeling very proud to become a part of this renowned company”.
