SUMMARY:Smile Foundation participates in exhibition organised at Nucleus Software
DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation participated in an exhibition organisied by Nucleus Software\, a software solution company based at Noida\, on April 9\, 2010. The team members of Swabhiman – the women and girl child empowerment programme of Smile Foundation showcased the paintings and artifacts (bead bracelets\, bead necklaces\, bead anklets\, paper bags\, etc.) at the exhibition organised inside the office premises of Nucleus Software. These paintings and objects were made by the beneficiaries who include community educators and health volunteers of the Swabhiman programme. \nNiraj Vedwa\, Chief Operating Officer\, Nucleus Software said\, It has been a pleasure to have Smile Foundation’s participation at the exhibition. It not only sensitised we Nucleites on the excellent work done by Smile Foundation but it also brought into light the fact that we need to continuously work towards doing our small bit to make this world a better place to live for everyone.” Niraj further extended his wishes for Smile Foundation in its journey of inspiration and milestones of fulfillment and success. \nPriyanka Jain Vats\, Senior Programme Officer\, Swabhiman Programme at Smile Foundation said\, “We conduct special training classes for our beneficiaries to learn these vocational skills\, which we believe will help in empowering themselves”. \nThe entire Team of Nucleus Software praised Smile Foundation for the efforts in training the beneficiaries and the company expressed its interest for association in future on various aspects of cooperation. “We appreciate the invitation extended to us by Nucleus Software to showcase our products at the exhibition and we are sure this will benefit the girls not only to improve upon the products but also give them the confidence to set up their own enterprises in near future”\, added Priyanka. \nThe visitors at the exhibition included employees of Nucleus Software. The appreciation of the exhibits by Smile Foundation was reflected by the heavy purchases made at the kiosk. Nucleus Software awarded Smile Foundation with a “Certificate of Appreciation” authenticated by Niraj Vedwa\, Chief Operating Officer of the company. \nTwo volunteers Ms. Anouli and Ms. Jildau from In Holland University\, Netherlands accompanied the team and helped in displaying as well as sale of the exhibits.

SUMMARY:Students from The Netherlands develop global concerns on socio economic scenario in India
DESCRIPTION:With an objective to generate global concerns on the issues related to the life of less fortunate children living in different parts of India\, Smile Foundation organised an exchange visit for a group of forty International Business Administration students from Rotterdam School of Management\, The Netherlands on 13th April 2010.The students visited four welfare projects of Smile Foundation in New Delhi. \nStudents visited the projects to get an insight into the underlying needs of social development of the underprivileged population in context with the fast economic growth of the country.The students visited Smile Twin e-Learning Programme (STeP) centre at Malviya Nagar\, Mission Education and Swabhiman centres at Dhaula Kuan and Smile on Wheels (SoW) in Gurgaon. An interaction with the target communities of different programmes under Smile Foundation helped the students in developing new perspectives in the area of socio economic sector. \nSharing the experience one of the students\, Tim Ramsche said ‘There is a contrast between the economic growth and need for a vast section of the society to develop in India. It is a thrilling experience to see the people who have the aspiration and determination to achieve a better life in spite of various odd circumstances.
