SUMMARY:Barclays Banks Comes Forward To Help Under-Privileged Youth
DESCRIPTION:In continuation with series of Employee Engagement Programme- Smile Foundation and Barclays Bank\, GRCB India again came together on 17th March 2010 and celebrated the 4th Volunteering Day. \nThe programme began with a round of introduction between the beneficiaries and the employees of the bank. The whole group of students was divided into teams to increase the spirit of competition and build team spirit among them. \nThe first activity was theme based. Chart papers were distributed to each team and they were asked to discuss and write good and bad practices for “Saving the Environment”. The activities focussed on sensitising the students towards the depleting natural resources and encourage them to think on the same. One chosen member from each team then presented the team’s views. \nThe students and the employees enjoyed the motivational and thought provoking movie “Who Moved My Cheese”. The teams did a review of movie and shared their understandings with everyone. The Barclays team in the end explained to the students the right message of the movie. \nBarclays Bank employees also conducted a quiz round which helped in improving the awareness levels of the students on various topics of general knowledge. The students learned many new things which they didn’t know. \nEveryone enjoyed the dumb charades game\, which focussed on helping students learn and recollect some daily advertisements they watch on television. The goal was to make them more alert on the market scenario and learn some of the big brand names. \nPrizes were distributed by the team from Barclays to the winning teams. The prizes to be given were declared before the beginning of the programme to encourage the student participants. \nAt the end an open round discussion was there\, so that students can clear some doubts about their education\, jobs and general queries about career at large. Students asked various questions to the team from Barclays and each answer satisfied the students. \nUndoubtedly\, the students walked out refreshed and more confident at the end of the session. The counselling session conducted during the event was aimed to address many career related aspects of the students. \nSmile Foundation extends its heartfelt thankyou note to Barclays Bank for taking out time from their busy schedules and contribute towards the societal cause. We appreciate their sensitivity towards our cause and putting their best efforts to counsel the students from the STeP programme on different career related aspects in the present economic scenario of the country. \nSome important figures:- \nBeneficiaries Benefited in the Event- 26\nBarclay’s Employees\, who attended the evnt-10
