SUMMARY:Taking care of dental health
DESCRIPTION:Oral hygiene is an important part aspect of our overall health and taking good care of our teeth keeps us away from various diseases. It is especially important to teach children to take proper care of their oral hygiene and also conduct regular check up of their oral hygiene. Keeping in mind the same a Dental Health camp was conducted for the students of a Mission Education centre in Tamil Nadu. The doctor conducted a regular dental checkup and prescribed medicines for those suffering from teeth problems and references for problems such as dental cavity etc. Nearly 397 Beneficiaries participated in the health camp and utilized the benefits. The doctor also advised the students to brush twice a day and avoid sticky\, sweet things after brushing and rinse their mouth after every meal. The children learnt a lot and were greatly benefitted by both the session and check up. \nMission Education is a national level programme of Smile Foundation\, which is committed to providing basic education and healthcare to underprivileged children. \nSmile Foundation is a national level development organization directly benefitting over 400\,000 children and their families every year\, through more than 200 live welfare projects on education\, healthcare\, livelihood and women empowerment\, in over 950 remote villages and slums across 25 states of India.

SUMMARY:Training teachers for implementing better teaching-learning practices
DESCRIPTION:A Teacher’s Training workshop was conducted for a group of teachers from various Mission Education centers for 3 days in New Delhi. These teachers teach children from families who reside in the urban slums and the parents are mostly engaged in daily wage labor. Due to the financial conditions at home these children mostly end up dropping from school and work in unhygienic\, threatening conditions. Steps to reduce dropout rates\, make learning more fun\, sensitizing the parents etc was discussed along with methods to make the learning process more effective. The teachers were specially trained to implement innovative teaching practices to make the learning process more fun and engaging. \nMission Education is a national level programme of Smile Foundation\, which is committed to providing basic education and healthcare to underprivileged children. \nSmile Foundation is a national level development organization directly benefitting over 400\,000 children and their families every year\, through more than 200 live welfare projects on education\, healthcare\, livelihood and women empowerment\, in over 950 remote villages and slums across 25 states of India.
