SUMMARY:Value Education Workshop
DESCRIPTION:A value education workshop for school students was conducted by Smile in Nagpur. The session covered topics about leaders of India and how they inspired change in the society. The children were taught how to lead their lives as responsible citizens. They were also taught that how even a child born into lesser privileges could turn his/her future into a bright one. Smile Foundation visits various reputed schools across India and conducts engaging sessions for the young minds under its national programme named ‘Child For Child’ (CFC). It sensitizes children towards various causes\, instills them with value system and let them realize responsibilities to grow up as a responsible citizen. During 2014-15\, Smile Foundation reached out to nearly 1 Million privileged children in 2200 schools spread across 417 districts of India\, through Child For Child programme.

SUMMARY:Jackie Chan exhorts Smile kids to believe in their dreams
DESCRIPTION:Renowned Hollywood star and martial arts legend Jackie Chan visited Smile Foundation’s integrated community development project to motivate children and provide them some self-defence tips at Sri Ram J.J. Camp in New Delhi. \nMr. Chan not only imparted knowledge on self-defence techniques but also showed the children some of the moves himself. He spent quality time inquiring about the progress of children studying at the centre and shared some light moments with them. He also took a round of the centre\, discussing various facilities such as computer rooms\, classrooms\, livelihood training centres for women\, etc. \nAddressing the gathering\, Mr. Chan said\, “Children have a special place for me always and I believe the beauty of a country lies in its people\, especially its children. Education to these kids is what we all wish for and it is our responsibility to get our future generation to be well educated and well equipped to lead a dignified life. I would like to congratulate Smile Foundation for doing a commendable job in building the generation next.” He also spoke about his difficult childhood and how he realised his dreams. “You should study together\, play together and dream together. You will definitely achieve your dreams one day like I did\,” he added. \nThanking Mr. Chan\, Mr. Vikram Singh Verma\, COO\, Smile Foundation said\, “On behalf of Smile Foundation I would like to thank Mr. Jackie Chan for supporting our cause and encouraging the children.” He added\, “I would also like to thank India China Economic and Cultural Council for facilitating Mr. Chan’s visit here and making a dream come true of our little kids.” \nMr. Mohammad Saqib\, General Secretary\, India China Economic and Cultural Council said\, “I am sure the message and spirit with which Mr. Chan visited Smile Foundation will be an inspiration for children and women here and will resonate with one and all.”
