SUMMARY:Dance India Dance celebrates World Anti Child Labour Day with Smile kids
DESCRIPTION:On the occasion of Anti Child Labour Day\, 12th June 2010\, children from Smile Foundation were given an opportunity to be a part of the audience on the popular dance show\, Dance India Dance on Zee TV. \nVeteran actor and dancer\, Mithun Chakravarty\, spoke to the viewers about the significance of the day and made an appeal to all other channels and the media fraternity to promote and spread awareness for the cause. \nThe host of the show\, Manish\, talked about Smile Foundation and its support of education and health for underprivileged children. The children from Smile were welcomed to the show with a huge round of applause. They were very amused to see how episodes are shot and were very excited to see their favorite contestants in person. They also cherished the time they spent with the celeb judges Farah Khan\, Sandip Suparkar and Mithun Chakravarty.

DESCRIPTION:The newly started daily soap ‘Maan Rehe Tera Pitah’\, on Sony Television celebrated Father’s Day with Smile kids from Health and Care Society. The lead star cast of the soap – Varun Badola\, Archana Taide and Parmod Moutho\, were the main guests for the occasion. Smile kids presented a dance performance for the guests and later invited them to participate as well. \nThe guests enthusiastically interacted with the kids\, signed autographs individually for all of them and in rhythm of the age old tradition a cake cutting ceremony was done to mark the celebration of the day. It was a great day for the kids of Smile Foundation as well as the guests.

SUMMARY:Smile kids at the release of Limca Book of Records 2010
DESCRIPTION:The 21st Limca Book of Records was released on June 28\, 2010. This is one of the most prestigious events in the annual calendar of Coca Cola India Ltd. And this time they had specially invited children from Smile Foundation to be a part of the book’s release. \nThe event began with an introduction of how the Limca Book of Records celebrates the unheard heroes of the country. Notable quizmaster Barry ‘O Brien\, engaged the children in stepping forward with any talent they had\, be it singing\, dancing\, mimicking\, reading out poems or even performing acrobatics. Goodies were given to all these children and extraordinary performances were awarded with a copy of the newest edition of the book. \nThis interactive session was followed by an enthralling dance performance by the famous Prince Dance Troupe. The entire audience\, children and grownups alike\, was gripped by the exhibit of this unmatched talent on stage and applauded enormously. \nThe event then moved forward to the felicitation of the seven dignitaries\, Rahul Dravid being one of them. Rahul Dravid interacted with the children and answered all their innocent questions with great enthusiasm. He also made the kids understand that every single person is born with certain talent; all we need to do is identify it and then nurture the talent with great passion. \nThe children also enjoyed themselves getting close to their cricket idol and shared with him their ambition of being able to play international cricket when they grow up.

SUMMARY:Smile kids compete with the nation in T-shirt designing
DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation associated with Cotton Council International as partner for a pan India t-shirt designing competition\, TeeZing. The competition was held in 6 cities across India – Delhi\, Kolkata\, Chandigarh\, Ahmedabad\, Pune and Hyderabad. \nThis month long competition offered every participant – young and old\, a chance to showcase their creativity and sketching skills. A formidable team – including leading names from the creative\, design and fashion fraternity\, was in place to judge the contest. These judges were present at all the competition centres and shared tips with the children to help them bring their creativity to life in designs. Winners of the competition were awarded with cash prizes. \nMr. Sachit Bhatia\, Senior Manager Representative\, South Asia\, Cotton Council International\, stated “Cotton has inspired a lot of creations in the Indian fashion industry and to take this association to a new level\, we have on board a group of fashion designers from various parts of the country who are traveling to different cities and mentoring the kids of Smile Foundation for participation in TeeZing so that they can come up with their best cotton creations.
