SUMMARY:NDTV joins hands with Smile Foundation to launch Banega Swasth India campaign
DESCRIPTION:The first 45 days of motherhood is the most crucial time for both mother and the newborn. In order to promote the health and hygiene of mother and child in the most underserved\, remote and rural areas of the country\, Smile Foundation in partnership with NDTV and Dettol India\, launched the Banega Swasth India campaign. \nA complete kit designed especially for the health needs of a mother and a newborn\, was unveiled by Bollywood actor Mr. Amitabh Bachchan\, who gladly announced a donation of a 100 of these ‘Swasth Boxes’ to give a kick start to the campaign. The kit has been developed based on technical know-how and years of on-ground experience of working with less privileged and hard to access communities\, which will support the health and hygiene needs of the mother for 45 days\, a time extremely crucial for both the new mother and new born. \nTo spread awareness the ‘Swasth Box’ has a small booklet that covers topics of Lactational Amenorrhea and other family planning methods\, Colostrum feeding\, exclusive breastfeeding\, cord care\, hand washing technique\, danger signs for new born\, nutrition for mother. \nSmile Foundation is an NGO in India directly benefitting over 750\,000 children and their families every year\, through more than 350 live welfare projects on education\, healthcare\, livelihood and women empowerment\, in over 1000 remote villages and slums across 25 states of India.
