SUMMARY:Distribution of Sanitary Napkins & Contraceptives to women and young girls
DESCRIPTION:During group meetings and counseling sessions on topics related to family planning and menstrual hygiene contraceptives and sanitary napkins were distributed to women and adolescent girls respectively. This exercise is aimed to promote practice of family planning and hygiene. A total of 23 women were provided with contraceptives to practice family planning and 69 women and girls were provided with sanitary napkins through the meeting. \nSwabhiman\, meaning self-respect in English\, was initiated in 2005 to address these challenges through a simple yet effective approach. The programme is specifically aimed at realization of both individual and collective self-esteem and inner strength for marginalised and socially excluded women and adolescent girls through innovative community practices. \nSmile Foundation is an NGO in India directly benefitting over 600\,000 children and their families every year\, through more than 250 live welfare projects on education\, healthcare\, livelihood and women empowerment\, in over 950 remote villages and slums across 25 states of India.
