SUMMARY:Educating the masses through plays\, Mayuranagar
DESCRIPTION:A play which carried a message that if girls and women are educated\, empowered and have a health-seeking behavior\, they can help their children and families become healthier and happier too was conducted by popular theatre group Kalashibara in Mayuranagar\, Bengaluru\, as part of Smile Foundation’s Swabhiman program. Starting with the Kannada song ‘kudiyode nan halumaadidu’\, the play was about promoting positive family values and the role women can play in this direction. The effects of the habit of drinking on the health and socio-economic conditions of the whole family and the growth and education of children were highlighted. It was highly appreciated by the audience\, with the women resolving to voice their opinions and participate in the family decision making process.
