SUMMARY:Value education for school students in Punjab
DESCRIPTION:Sahibzada Ajit Singh Ji School\, Sarhali near Phagwara in Punjab invited Smile Foundation to conduct a Value Education Workshop under Child for Child (CFC) programme. Voluntarily\, 1100 children attended the early morning session which included the value of empathy\, care and integrity in life; how to grow up as a successful as well as happy individual\, among other subjects. \nSmile Foundation visits various privileged schools across India and conducts engaging sessions for the young minds\, under CFC programme. Children are sensitized in various causes\, value systems and are ushered to realize their importance in growing up as responsible citizens of the country. \nDuring last one year\, Smile Foundation reached out to nearly 1 Million privileged children in 900 schools spread across 417 districts of India\, through Child For Child (CFC) programme. In addition\, their parents and teachers were also involved in the process.

SUMMARY:Day-out for Swabhiman scholarship students
DESCRIPTION:59 extraordinary girls from Smile Foundation went for an exciting and educational exposure visit organised under the Swabhiman programme\, to explore major landmarks of New Delhi including Red Fort\, Science Centre and India Gate. \nThese underprivileged girls have received a merit-based scholarship under Swabhiman\, to complete their education. Many of them have also become health volunteers and health educators within their community and spread awareness among their peers\, spearheading the movement of change. \nThe girls were thrilled and enthusiastic to learn new things about history and science\, which touch their lives in some way or the other. Their eagerness to gain knowledge was quite evident going by their never ending questions. \nSwabhiman is an empowerment programme for women and the girl child which is based on an innovative and highly effective approach named the “4-S Model”\, which means Seeking Healthcare as a Behaviour\, Support through Education\, Support from Men through Male Involvement\, and Sustaining Change in the Community. As many as 150\,000 girls and women have benefited from four intensive operational projects.
