SUMMARY:Workshop on reproductive and child health for women of Shashi Garden slum area\, Delhi
DESCRIPTION:A workshop on reproductive and child health was conducted for women of Shashi Garden slum area\, in Delhi\, on October 18\, 2013. The workshop was focused on significant issues like maternal health\, safe delivery\, breast feeding\, immunization\, ante natal and post natal care. \nWomen form an important segment of the society\, as they are part of not only the present generation\, but also fore bearers of a future generation. Unfortunately\, when it comes to healthcare\, they are at the bottom of the pyramid. Poverty\, lack of education and awareness about health issues only makes their situation worse. Swabhiman addresses this gap by empowering women with adequate knowledge on issues vital for women and child health care. \nThe workshop was an interactive one\, where women discussed their problems and put forward their queries to two subject experts\, who work as associate professors with Delhi University. Charts\, demonstrations\, documentaries and slide shows were used to make the session interesting and engaging for the beneficiaries. \nMore than sixty women\, in the age group of 18 to 65 years\, benefitted from the workshop.
