SUMMARY:20 Health Camps in association with NSIC
DESCRIPTION:Twenty health camps were conducted by Smile Foundation in various parts of Delhi NCR in association with National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC). This initiative is part of an Integrated Community Development Project started by Smile Foundation and NSIC and was launched in December 2011. This project focuses at the holistic development of the underprivileged living in slums of Delhi NCR\, through education\, healthcare and women empowerment. \nThese health camps that were conducted provided curative\, preventive\, promotive and referral healthcare services to the people. OPD services for prevalent common ailments\, growth check-ups for children\, treatment for malnutrient cases\, dispensing of medicines for common ailments\, dental check-ups and eye check-ups were mainly the services that were made available in these camps. \nThey were conducted in 20 different slums across Delhi NCR\, namely – Rangpuri\, Tuglakabad\, Dhaula Kuan\, Mansarovar Park\, Rohini\, Sunder Nagri\, Sastri Nagar\, Jahangir Puri\, Kalyanvas\, Tilpath\, Majnu Ka Tila\, Gurgaon\, Motiya Khan\, Khori Kingsway Camp\, Jahank Puri\, Bhalaswa\, Tahirpur\, Wazirpur\, Nand Nagri and Faridabad. \nAll the health camps received overwhelming response from the people. As many as 5021 people were benefited. \nThe objective of conducting these health camps was to create awareness of general health among the people\, providing general health care services and counseling them\, on basic healthcare and hygiene. \nMajority of people were diagnosed with various common but seriously neglected problems such as diarrhea\, cholera and cataract in the eyes. There were also a few cases\, detected with major health problems; these cases were further referred to the referral hospital.

SUMMARY:10th Annual Mega Health Camp held in Bhilwara
DESCRIPTION:The 10th annual multi-disciplinary mega health camp was held for the rural population of Bhilwara district in Rajasthan during two weeks in September 2012. \nThe day-long free health camp is organised ever year in association with Jain Sabha Women’s Wing to cater to the rural poor living in the vicinity of Shahpura\, with a particular focus on women and children. It caters to 100 villages in the vicinity\, comprising of a population of over 20\,000. The area has only one government dispensary and in case of critical medical attention\, a patient has to be taken to Bhilwara for further treatment. Every year\, thousands of people visit this health camp to avail the services. \nThe three-month camp was conducted in 500-bed make-shift hospital\, with provisions for diagnosis\, medicines\, food\, accommodation and surgical care. More than 100 doctors and paramedical staff specialised in surgery\, ophthalmology\, gynaecology\, orthopaedics\, general medicine\, E.N.T.\, anaesthesia\, radiology\, paediatrics\, and pathology provided voluntary services at the camp. \nDuring the period\, around 3807 beneficiaries\, including women and children\, availed the services. Preparations of the health camp start months ahead of the actual event to ensure smooth execution of the programme. Besides the relentless service by the Jain Sabha Women’s Wing\, the state government also lends its mobile surgical unit for the service of the people.

SUMMARY:Hockey player’s new goals for Smile Foundation
DESCRIPTION:Veteran Indian Hockey players Mr. Ashok Kumar\, “son of Major Dhayanchand & former Indian Hockey player” along with Mr. Harender Singh “former coach of Indian Hockey Team” are supporting Smile Foundation at the festival of philanthropy- Joy of Giving Week from October 2-8\, 2012. They both are supporting the cause of education for the underprivileged children. \nBoth the sports stars have taken the onus of supporting the education of 50 underprivileged children beneficiaries of Smile Foundation this Joy of Giving Week. For the same they unveiled a wish bag which commits to fulfill the wishes of the children.

Veteran Indian Hockey players Mr. Ashok Kumar\, son of Major Dhayanchand & former Indian hockey player along with Mr. Harender Singh former coach of Indian Hockey Team supported Smile Foundation at the Marathon. Along with these sports starts corporate like Barclays Shared Services Pvt. Ltd. were also in the list of supports\, supported Smile Foundation at the Marathon.
