SUMMARY:20 Health Camps in association with NSIC
DESCRIPTION:Twenty health camps were conducted by Smile Foundation in various parts of Delhi NCR in association with National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC). This initiative is part of an Integrated Community Development Project started by Smile Foundation and NSIC and was launched in December 2011. This project focuses at the holistic development of the underprivileged living in slums of Delhi NCR\, through education\, healthcare and women empowerment. \nThese health camps that were conducted provided curative\, preventive\, promotive and referral healthcare services to the people. OPD services for prevalent common ailments\, growth check-ups for children\, treatment for malnutrient cases\, dispensing of medicines for common ailments\, dental check-ups and eye check-ups were mainly the services that were made available in these camps. \nThey were conducted in 20 different slums across Delhi NCR\, namely – Rangpuri\, Tuglakabad\, Dhaula Kuan\, Mansarovar Park\, Rohini\, Sunder Nagri\, Sastri Nagar\, Jahangir Puri\, Kalyanvas\, Tilpath\, Majnu Ka Tila\, Gurgaon\, Motiya Khan\, Khori Kingsway Camp\, Jahank Puri\, Bhalaswa\, Tahirpur\, Wazirpur\, Nand Nagri and Faridabad. \nAll the health camps received overwhelming response from the people. As many as 5021 people were benefited. \nThe objective of conducting these health camps was to create awareness of general health among the people\, providing general health care services and counseling them\, on basic healthcare and hygiene. \nMajority of people were diagnosed with various common but seriously neglected problems such as diarrhea\, cholera and cataract in the eyes. There were also a few cases\, detected with major health problems; these cases were further referred to the referral hospital.

SUMMARY:66th Independence Day celebration
DESCRIPTION:Smile’s Mission Education projects in Jajpur\, supported by JSL\, celebrated the 66th Independence Day with great enthusiasm. To bring on the feeling of unity and secularism all the students and teachers of the centres paid their tribute to the Tricolor. Various cultural programme were performed by the students. \nDistinguished dignitaries from Jindal Steel Limited\, members of Mother Association and members of Village Education Committees also attended the programmes. Mr. Manoranjan Mohanty\, HOD\, RHMS\, JSL\, Mr. Biswajit Tripathy\, GM\, Electrical\, JSL\, Mr. Subodh Kumar Mahapatra\, AGM\, JSL\, Mr. Sukanta Kumar Ratha\, Senior Manager\, JSL\, and Mr. Bilochana Sahoo\, CSR\, JSL were present as Chief Guests at different centres. \nAll the dignitaries addressed the students and threw light on the importance of the day and their duties towards the country. In the end sweet packets were distributed among the students and villagers. It was a rich learning experience for the students who cherished the value of freedom and patriotism.

SUMMARY:A tribute to Martyrs by Smile children
DESCRIPTION:Smile’s Mission Education centre in Delhi\, supported by Samsung HOPE project\, celebrated 66th Independence Day with pride and reverence. The celebration was conducted to cherish the spirit of India’s Independence. The celebrations began with the flag hoisting ceremony followed by a cultural progarmme. The programme comprised of inspiring speeches\, songs and dances followed by a short plays and kite flying activity. The entire atmosphere was filled with nationalism. In the end refreshments were distributed among the children.
