SUMMARY:20 Health Camps in association with NSIC
DESCRIPTION:Twenty health camps were conducted by Smile Foundation in various parts of Delhi NCR in association with National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC). This initiative is part of an Integrated Community Development Project started by Smile Foundation and NSIC and was launched in December 2011. This project focuses at the holistic development of the underprivileged living in slums of Delhi NCR\, through education\, healthcare and women empowerment. \nThese health camps that were conducted provided curative\, preventive\, promotive and referral healthcare services to the people. OPD services for prevalent common ailments\, growth check-ups for children\, treatment for malnutrient cases\, dispensing of medicines for common ailments\, dental check-ups and eye check-ups were mainly the services that were made available in these camps. \nThey were conducted in 20 different slums across Delhi NCR\, namely – Rangpuri\, Tuglakabad\, Dhaula Kuan\, Mansarovar Park\, Rohini\, Sunder Nagri\, Sastri Nagar\, Jahangir Puri\, Kalyanvas\, Tilpath\, Majnu Ka Tila\, Gurgaon\, Motiya Khan\, Khori Kingsway Camp\, Jahank Puri\, Bhalaswa\, Tahirpur\, Wazirpur\, Nand Nagri and Faridabad. \nAll the health camps received overwhelming response from the people. As many as 5021 people were benefited. \nThe objective of conducting these health camps was to create awareness of general health among the people\, providing general health care services and counseling them\, on basic healthcare and hygiene. \nMajority of people were diagnosed with various common but seriously neglected problems such as diarrhea\, cholera and cataract in the eyes. There were also a few cases\, detected with major health problems; these cases were further referred to the referral hospital.

DESCRIPTION:It was a special Friendship Day celebration for director Madhur Bhandarkar and actress Kareena Kapoor this year. The director and the actor had invited children from Smile Foundation on the sets of their upcoming film Heroine\, specially to celebrate Friendship’s Day with the little ones. \nAn excited Kareena exclaimed “I have never celebrated Friendship Day before this and no one has ever given me a friendship band. This is my first and I am so glad it is. I couldn’t have asked for a better beginning to the day”. \nTo this Madhur Bhandarkar added\, “I am delighted to see these kids on my set. And now I am friends with all of them. It is truly my best Friendship Day celebration ever.” \nMadhur gave away chocolates to all the kids and the children\, in-returns\, gave friendship bands to Madhur and Kareena and a handmade card and flowers wishing them best for their upcoming film. What better way to celebrate the day of friendship.
