SUMMARY:20 Health Camps in association with NSIC
DESCRIPTION:Twenty health camps were conducted by Smile Foundation in various parts of Delhi NCR in association with National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC). This initiative is part of an Integrated Community Development Project started by Smile Foundation and NSIC and was launched in December 2011. This project focuses at the holistic development of the underprivileged living in slums of Delhi NCR\, through education\, healthcare and women empowerment. \nThese health camps that were conducted provided curative\, preventive\, promotive and referral healthcare services to the people. OPD services for prevalent common ailments\, growth check-ups for children\, treatment for malnutrient cases\, dispensing of medicines for common ailments\, dental check-ups and eye check-ups were mainly the services that were made available in these camps. \nThey were conducted in 20 different slums across Delhi NCR\, namely – Rangpuri\, Tuglakabad\, Dhaula Kuan\, Mansarovar Park\, Rohini\, Sunder Nagri\, Sastri Nagar\, Jahangir Puri\, Kalyanvas\, Tilpath\, Majnu Ka Tila\, Gurgaon\, Motiya Khan\, Khori Kingsway Camp\, Jahank Puri\, Bhalaswa\, Tahirpur\, Wazirpur\, Nand Nagri and Faridabad. \nAll the health camps received overwhelming response from the people. As many as 5021 people were benefited. \nThe objective of conducting these health camps was to create awareness of general health among the people\, providing general health care services and counseling them\, on basic healthcare and hygiene. \nMajority of people were diagnosed with various common but seriously neglected problems such as diarrhea\, cholera and cataract in the eyes. There were also a few cases\, detected with major health problems; these cases were further referred to the referral hospital.

SUMMARY:Exposure Visit At Umeed ke Rang
DESCRIPTION:On 22nd June 2012 at Bandra in Mumbai\, 11 students from Smile STeP center Desh Seva Samiti were invited to an event organized by UMEED project called ‘Umeed ke Rang’ on Friday & Saturday (22-23 June\, 2012). Various stalls with interesting information highlighting social issues in innovative ways were there. Game stalls allowed children\, youth and women to participate in exciting and yet meaningful activities. A few companies provided information of vacancies available for underprivileged youth and this turned out to be very good platform for our students to get interview on the spot as mentioned below. \n\nLawrence & Mayo\nReliance Mart\,\nTata AIG\,\nUninor\,\nDominos Pizza\n\nObjective of event: To spread awareness about activities organized in the Umeed project as well as create a platform to learn about issues in participatory yet fun ways. \nMembers present- Mr.Nitin Patil – Smile Foundation Mr.Gaurav Pandey – DSS computer instructor

SUMMARY:Exposure Visit at Career Foundation
DESCRIPTION:STeP\, JSS Mumbai organized a Exposure visit and placement interview for the students of Smile Twin E Learning program at Career Foundation situated in Bandra\, Mumbai on dated June 22nd\, 2012. 18 students and 2 teachers were part of the visit along with the Smile representatives. Many eminent persons like Mr. Naseemshah\, Mr. Deshpande\, Ms Reshma (social worker) and many NGO have actively participated in it. \nAs part of the curriculum under Smile Twin E Learning program\, the visit is initiated to provide a better understanding of working environment to the students. The students keenly observed and analyzed the overall program and the result was very motivating as it encouraged them to choose the right direction in their life. Many companies Tata AIG\, Reliance Fresh\, Eureka Forbes\, and Dominos Pizza were present to give job opportunities to the students in which many of them got selected. At the end the students were provided with best of knowledge and thanked Smile Foundation for initiating the program and giving them a chance to enhance their goal.
