SUMMARY:20 Health Camps in association with NSIC
DESCRIPTION:Twenty health camps were conducted by Smile Foundation in various parts of Delhi NCR in association with National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC). This initiative is part of an Integrated Community Development Project started by Smile Foundation and NSIC and was launched in December 2011. This project focuses at the holistic development of the underprivileged living in slums of Delhi NCR\, through education\, healthcare and women empowerment. \nThese health camps that were conducted provided curative\, preventive\, promotive and referral healthcare services to the people. OPD services for prevalent common ailments\, growth check-ups for children\, treatment for malnutrient cases\, dispensing of medicines for common ailments\, dental check-ups and eye check-ups were mainly the services that were made available in these camps. \nThey were conducted in 20 different slums across Delhi NCR\, namely – Rangpuri\, Tuglakabad\, Dhaula Kuan\, Mansarovar Park\, Rohini\, Sunder Nagri\, Sastri Nagar\, Jahangir Puri\, Kalyanvas\, Tilpath\, Majnu Ka Tila\, Gurgaon\, Motiya Khan\, Khori Kingsway Camp\, Jahank Puri\, Bhalaswa\, Tahirpur\, Wazirpur\, Nand Nagri and Faridabad. \nAll the health camps received overwhelming response from the people. As many as 5021 people were benefited. \nThe objective of conducting these health camps was to create awareness of general health among the people\, providing general health care services and counseling them\, on basic healthcare and hygiene. \nMajority of people were diagnosed with various common but seriously neglected problems such as diarrhea\, cholera and cataract in the eyes. There were also a few cases\, detected with major health problems; these cases were further referred to the referral hospital.

SUMMARY:Smile Foundation rolls out the first 'Smile on Wheels' in Bihar
DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation rolled out its first Smile on Wheels mobile hospital for the state of Bihar in association with Siemens Ltd. This mobile healthcare initiative is providing comprehensive healthcare services for the underprivileged in the villages of Madhepura district of Bihar. The project is a first of its kind in the state and will is initially benefiting over 25\,000 people in 10 villages of Madhepura\, namely Sahugarh-1\, Sahugarh-2\, Bhatutola\, Mithai\, Balam\, Shripur\, Chakla\, Sabela\, Puniyahi and Sukhasan. This Project in Madhepura is being supported by the Corporate Citizenship initiative of Siemens Ltd. \n“We are proud to partner with Smile Foundation on this initiative. Basic healthcare is an integral part of our lives and with this initiative; we hope to touch the lives of the people living in the villages. We are sure this initiative will lead to much improvement in the healthcare services in the villages that ‘Smile on Wheels’ touches. This is an important milestone for Siemens too as we strive to be an integral part of society through sustainable corporate citizenship initiatives\,” said V K Menon\, Head of Corporate Communications\, Siemens Ltd. \nThe initiative aims to meet the primary healthcare needs of the underprivileged population through preventive\, promotive and curative services. It focus on improving coverage of ante-natal care amongst pregnant women to ensure safe motherhood thereby reducing infant and maternal mortality\, improving immunization and general healthcare services. It also provides respiratory tract infection case management\, awareness of HIV/AIDS and sanitation. The aim is to improve reporting and management of infectious diseases amongst the people of the district. \nThis is the 20th Smile on Wheels project in India by Smile Foundation. Smile on Wheels programme is a national level healthcare programme by Smile Foundation which is catering to the healthcare need of the underprivileged people of Delhi\, Haryana\, Jharkhand\, Rajasthan\, Uttar Pradesh\, Gujarat\, Tamil Nadu\, Maharashtra\, Andhra Pradesh\, Chattisgarh and Odisha.

For the first time\, a unique concept of bringing the non-governmental organisations and CSR professionals together on a structured exhibition and conference platform. \nIn this three day conference Smile Foundation presented a session on\,” Building Employability Skills to Facilitate Empowerment of Underprivileged Youth in Urban India”\, showcasing the corporates and individuals the work Smile Foundation is doing towards ensuring livelihood for the underprivileged adolescent youth. \nThe three-day conference served to deepen the understanding of key issues in areas such as Health\, Livelihoods\, Environment\, Education\, Disaster Response and Empowerment.

SUMMARY:Smile Foundation sensitized the students of Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology
DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation associated with Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology for their annual fest MOKSHA 2012. It was three days long cultural festival organised for the students to sensitize them towards the most disturbing issues of the society. Smile Foundation and NSIT worked together with the promising and talented student community to create awareness and sensitization towards causes such as Women Empowerment\, Women Security in Delhi and Education for children. All the students joined and participated excitedly in all sensitizing activities conducted. \nMOKSHA\, the 3-Day long cultural festival of NSIT is distinguished by its unique mix of unconventional and cultural events that include professional performances by reputed artistes\, dramatics\, music festival\, dances\, quizzes\, and debates. This year the theme of Moksha was- The Spirit of Delhi\, as Delhi has entered its 101th years of being the capital. \nEstablished in 1983 as Delhi Institute of Technology\, (renamed as Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology in 1997) with an objective of meeting growing demand for manpower in the emerging areas of Engineering and Technology. NSIT has continuously been featuring in lists of the top 10 engineering colleges of India by engineering education surveys conducted by bodies such as India Today\, Outlook\, Dataquest-NASSCOM etc.
