SUMMARY:20 Health Camps in association with NSIC
DESCRIPTION:Twenty health camps were conducted by Smile Foundation in various parts of Delhi NCR in association with National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC). This initiative is part of an Integrated Community Development Project started by Smile Foundation and NSIC and was launched in December 2011. This project focuses at the holistic development of the underprivileged living in slums of Delhi NCR\, through education\, healthcare and women empowerment. \nThese health camps that were conducted provided curative\, preventive\, promotive and referral healthcare services to the people. OPD services for prevalent common ailments\, growth check-ups for children\, treatment for malnutrient cases\, dispensing of medicines for common ailments\, dental check-ups and eye check-ups were mainly the services that were made available in these camps. \nThey were conducted in 20 different slums across Delhi NCR\, namely – Rangpuri\, Tuglakabad\, Dhaula Kuan\, Mansarovar Park\, Rohini\, Sunder Nagri\, Sastri Nagar\, Jahangir Puri\, Kalyanvas\, Tilpath\, Majnu Ka Tila\, Gurgaon\, Motiya Khan\, Khori Kingsway Camp\, Jahank Puri\, Bhalaswa\, Tahirpur\, Wazirpur\, Nand Nagri and Faridabad. \nAll the health camps received overwhelming response from the people. As many as 5021 people were benefited. \nThe objective of conducting these health camps was to create awareness of general health among the people\, providing general health care services and counseling them\, on basic healthcare and hygiene. \nMajority of people were diagnosed with various common but seriously neglected problems such as diarrhea\, cholera and cataract in the eyes. There were also a few cases\, detected with major health problems; these cases were further referred to the referral hospital.

SUMMARY:Shri Pranab Mukherjee inaugurates Smile's Mobile Emergency Response System
DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation with support from State Bank of India has initiated a Mobile Emergency Response System project\, as a new initiative under its healthcare services for the underprivileged. This project was inaugurated by honorable Union Finance Minister of Govt. of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee\, on the golden jubilee day of SBI’s Staff College. Red Cross society along with Smile Foundation will be implementing this project in Delhi/ NCR. \nAlong with shri. Pranab Mukherjee\, also present for the occasion were Mr. D. K. Mittal\, Secretary\, Ministry of Finance\, Govt. of India and Mr. Pratip Choudhuri\, Chairman and CMD of State Bank of India. Mr. Santanu Mishra\, Co- Founder and Executive Trustee of Smile Foundation and Mr. H.N. Sahay\, Director\, Smile Foundation \nThis project has been designed to provide emergency response service living in the slums of Delhi/ NCR. Smile Foundation is already providing the much needed healthcare services through mobile hospital programme and health camps.
