SUMMARY:20 Health Camps in association with NSIC
DESCRIPTION:Twenty health camps were conducted by Smile Foundation in various parts of Delhi NCR in association with National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC). This initiative is part of an Integrated Community Development Project started by Smile Foundation and NSIC and was launched in December 2011. This project focuses at the holistic development of the underprivileged living in slums of Delhi NCR\, through education\, healthcare and women empowerment. \nThese health camps that were conducted provided curative\, preventive\, promotive and referral healthcare services to the people. OPD services for prevalent common ailments\, growth check-ups for children\, treatment for malnutrient cases\, dispensing of medicines for common ailments\, dental check-ups and eye check-ups were mainly the services that were made available in these camps. \nThey were conducted in 20 different slums across Delhi NCR\, namely – Rangpuri\, Tuglakabad\, Dhaula Kuan\, Mansarovar Park\, Rohini\, Sunder Nagri\, Sastri Nagar\, Jahangir Puri\, Kalyanvas\, Tilpath\, Majnu Ka Tila\, Gurgaon\, Motiya Khan\, Khori Kingsway Camp\, Jahank Puri\, Bhalaswa\, Tahirpur\, Wazirpur\, Nand Nagri and Faridabad. \nAll the health camps received overwhelming response from the people. As many as 5021 people were benefited. \nThe objective of conducting these health camps was to create awareness of general health among the people\, providing general health care services and counseling them\, on basic healthcare and hygiene. \nMajority of people were diagnosed with various common but seriously neglected problems such as diarrhea\, cholera and cataract in the eyes. There were also a few cases\, detected with major health problems; these cases were further referred to the referral hospital.

SUMMARY:Smile Foundation becomes cause partner in IIM-B\, fest- UNMAAD
DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation has joined hands with IIM-Bangalore to be a part of their annual fest- Unmaad. Smile Foundation participated in Unmaad as a cause partner and engaged the future leaders in the process of participatory development. A graffiti wall was created where everyone participating in the fest wrote their social resolution of the year. \nH.N. Sahay\, Director Smile Foundation stated\,” It is our pleasure to be a part of IIM-B fest\, UNMAAD 2012 and seeing the proactive participation of the youth to support nation building. This clearly reflects that we as a nation do realize that grooming youth about positivity is what makes them positive individuals and better citizens of the country.” \nUnmaad is the flagship annual cultural festival of IIM Bangalore. Spanning a period of three days\, Unmaad draws participants from across India and features events like dramatics\, music performances\, dances\, quizzes\, debates\, street plays\, professional concerts and the grand Unmaad fashion show. \nThe Indian Institute of Management Bangalore\, IIMB) is a business school. It was established in 1973 by the Government of India\, and is the third Indian Institute of Management (IIM) to be established\, after IIM Calcutta and IIM Ahmedabad. It offers several Post Graduate and Doctoral programmes\, as well as a bouquet of Executive training programmes. IIM Bangalore awards only diplomas\, and not degrees. In addition to its main academic programmes\, IIM-B is also engaged in Research\, Consultancy\, seminars\, academic conferences and research publications. IIM Bangalore was ranked fifth in the Asia Pacific region in 2012.

DESCRIPTION:The 18th feather on the cap! The Filmfare Award! \nAfter winning 17 prestigious awards\, Smile Foundation’s I am Kalam has won the Filmfare Award for being the Best Story of the year. The acclaims and accomplishments the film has received so far have been primarily because of the cause it propagates – children’s right to education and freedom from illiteracy. The film’s success proves that the cause of children and their education brings together people across the globe irrespective of their age\, gender\, taste and ethnicity. \nThis is the 57th year of the awards and is often referred to as Hindi film industry’s equivalent to the Oscars. The award is presented annually by the Times of India Group to honour both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in the Hindi film industry. The Filmfare ceremony is one of the oldest and most prominent film events given for Hindi films in India.
