SUMMARY:20 Health Camps in association with NSIC
DESCRIPTION:Twenty health camps were conducted by Smile Foundation in various parts of Delhi NCR in association with National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC). This initiative is part of an Integrated Community Development Project started by Smile Foundation and NSIC and was launched in December 2011. This project focuses at the holistic development of the underprivileged living in slums of Delhi NCR\, through education\, healthcare and women empowerment. \nThese health camps that were conducted provided curative\, preventive\, promotive and referral healthcare services to the people. OPD services for prevalent common ailments\, growth check-ups for children\, treatment for malnutrient cases\, dispensing of medicines for common ailments\, dental check-ups and eye check-ups were mainly the services that were made available in these camps. \nThey were conducted in 20 different slums across Delhi NCR\, namely – Rangpuri\, Tuglakabad\, Dhaula Kuan\, Mansarovar Park\, Rohini\, Sunder Nagri\, Sastri Nagar\, Jahangir Puri\, Kalyanvas\, Tilpath\, Majnu Ka Tila\, Gurgaon\, Motiya Khan\, Khori Kingsway Camp\, Jahank Puri\, Bhalaswa\, Tahirpur\, Wazirpur\, Nand Nagri and Faridabad. \nAll the health camps received overwhelming response from the people. As many as 5021 people were benefited. \nThe objective of conducting these health camps was to create awareness of general health among the people\, providing general health care services and counseling them\, on basic healthcare and hygiene. \nMajority of people were diagnosed with various common but seriously neglected problems such as diarrhea\, cholera and cataract in the eyes. There were also a few cases\, detected with major health problems; these cases were further referred to the referral hospital.

SUMMARY:Special Screening of I am Kalam at Sambalpur by Utsarga
DESCRIPTION:A special screening of the most critically acclaimed feature film and a Smile Foundation production I Am Kalam was organised for the high school students of the Sambalpur district of Odisha. Two consecutive shows were booked for the screening in Ashoka Talkies. Students from various high schools namely; C.S.B. Zilla School\, Sri Aurobindo Institute Of Integral Education And Research Centre\, Balibandha Govt. Girls High School\, Budharaja High School\, Lady Lewis Girls High School\, Hindi High School\, Rashtriya Gopal Vidya Mandir\, Nrusingha Guru Town High School\, Jagriti Vidya Mandir\, Saraswati Shishu Mandir\, Police High School\, Mungalal Saraswiti Shishu Mandir\, Manak Ram High School\, Udiyaman Martukshatra\, Dutika Sahu Girls High School\, come for the screening . With students many dignitaries also attended the special screening. Before the screening a press meet was also arranged. \nI am Kalam is a first feature film ever to be produced by a development organization to promote the cause of sending every child to school.

SUMMARY:Exposure visit at Pantaloons
DESCRIPTION:On 25th January’12 Praramva Social Welfare Organization was organized an exposer visit for their 28 STEP students under batch no 2 & 3. The venue of the visit was AXIS Mall\, Pantaloons HR office Rajarhat-Kolkata. \nOBJECTIVE: \nTo understand the working environment and responsibilities in Pantaloons. To know how the company recruits the new staff\, duty schedule\, salary\, nature of job etc. During the visit students saw the Pantaloons outlet in AXIS Mall. Students observed the activities of the store keepers how they sell the products. They got an idea about the approaches of the sellers. \nIn the visit STEP students met with Mr. Kankan Bose\, Deputy Manager PANTALOONS\, People’s Office-East. During this visit Mr. Kankan Bose took a session for the STEP students. In his one hour discussion he explained the nature of job under Pantaloons\, salary structure\, and duty schedule of the staffs. He suggested that job training was important before facing the interview. He told that during the training session trainers would help them to understand the work.
