DESCRIPTION:Alcoa India Pvt. Ltd. has entered a partnership with Smile Foundation as a part of their corporate social responsibility. \nAlcoa India Private Limited provides support to customers in India for Alcoa’s entire offering of high-value\, high-quality aluminium products. Alcoa supports its customers with a global sales and support network and a hundred-year reputation for leadership and innovation in aluminium and other products for aerospace\, automotive\, transportation\, industrial\, building and consumer markets. \nThis partnership’s beginning was marked with an employee engagement programme. Volunteers from Alcoa had participated for this engagement activity along with their families. \nThe engagement programme was organized in a way so that the children of Smile Foundation and the volunteers of Alcoa could actively participate together. A drawing competition was organized for the children where they asked to make colourful sketches on the theme of ‘Colours of your Fantasy World’. The volunteers had taken the responsibility of supervising and guiding the children. \nNumerous games such as lemon and spoon race\, musical chairs and antakshari were also played during the engagement programme. Both\, the children and the volunteers had a great time together. At the end of the programme\, prizes were distributed to all the winners of respective activities and games. \nSharing her experience Ms. Dimple Gupta\, one of the employees of Alcoa and volunteer in the engagement programme said\, “I was amazed to see the confidence of the kids. The kind of respect\, etiquette\, team spirit\, and expertise they have shown\, is outstanding. They are very creative\, talented and well-groomed. \nThe whole event was very well organized. We\, along with our respective families\, enjoyed this get together a lot. My daughter for one\, found a few new friends here. I congratulate Smile Foundation for their contribution to the society and look forward to be a part of it in some way or the other.”

SUMMARY:"Best out of Waste" - A workshop for underprivileged adolescent girls
DESCRIPTION:A workshop for creating art and craft was organized for the underprivileged girls and women of the Swbhiman intervention areas. This workshop was conducted by Swatantra Rang\, a group that is famous for Recycling and Waste Management workshops with the less privileged people. Their workshops are known to be innovative and bring something new every time. \nThe workshop conducted for the Swabhiman girls consists of Art and Craft activities such as Painting\, Sketching\, Drawing and making something innovative from waste materials. It included making of Flower Vases and Photo Frames from waste material. 19 girls had taken part in this workshop. \nThe products made in the Workshop will be showcased in exhibitions organised by Smile Foundation and other institutes and corporates. Art and craft learnt in this Workshop has also given a new sense of confidence and creativity to the underprivileged girls and women from the slums. They will now be able to utilize this art in their personal lives\, as well as to start a small venture of their own. These efforts would lead the beneficiaries of Smile Foundation towards the road of empowerment.
