SUMMARY:Health Camp on "Thyroid & Reproductive Health"
DESCRIPTION:Smile Foundation in association with Abott India organized a health camp on “Thyroid and Reproductive Health” in its intervention areas. This health camp was organized in Chattarpur – one of the intervention areas of Swabhiman – the woman and girl child empowerment programme of Smile Foundation. \nChattarpur is one of the 10 slum clusters of Delhi where Swabhiman mainly intervenes for welfare initiatives. This area has been noted for a large number of people constantly emerging with with reproductive health problems. Dr. Neeraj Tiwari – Scientific Project Manager\, Abott India was invited to the camp to address the community women. Over 40 women attended the session in which awareness regarding thyroid and its reasons were discussed amongst the community women. \nSignificant things like the symptoms of thyroid\, whether infertility is related to thyroid and whether depression is caused by thyroid were discussed in detail for the awareness of these women. \nAbout 87 people got themselves tested for thyroid; some of them were even detected with thyroid. This camp really encouraged the people about the importance of getting health check-ups done regularly.
