SUMMARY:Kendriya Vidyalaya students sensitised on plight of underprivileged children
DESCRIPTION:In order to further strengthen its objective of raising awareness among the privileged section of the society on the plight of the children of the underprivileged section\, Smile Foundation organised a skill building event to sensitise the school children of Kendriya Vidyalaya\, Arjungarh\, New Delhi. The painting completion conducted at the school for the students of the school comprising of the all three – the primary\, middle and senior classes was aimed at bringing the students to a platform where they develop their understandings on the plight of the underprivileged students in their own locality\, city and the country. \nThe total number of thirteen hundred students who participated in the painting completion drew sketches of how they see the underprivileged children in and around themselves. The thoughts ranged from child labour\, unhygienic conditions in the urban slums to social evils like female feticides and other environmental issues. \nSmile Foundation plans to organise further completions on creative aspects of the school students like poem writing and essay writing as part of the sensitisation activities under its “Be the Change” campaign with Kendriya Vidyalaya\, Arjungarh and various other schools across the country.
