About the partner
The Shoshit Seva Sangh (SSS) was established by Mr. J.K. Sinha in 2005. It started with sponsoring 28 children of a residential school at Kamla Nehru Shishu Vihar, Patna. In July 2007, the Sangh started a English medium residential school for the underprivileged children of Musahar community. An estimated population of 60 to 70 lakhs in Bihar are Musahars. They mostly work in the fields and 99.5 per cent of them are landless. Shoshit Seva Sangh (SSS) believes that good quality conventional education along with vocational training will help break the vicious cycle of poverty, the Musahar community has been living with since ages.
Smile Foundation under its Mission Education programme is supporting Shoshit Seva Sangh, for the holistic development of children of the underprivileged population in Patna. Smile Foundation is supporting the centre with operational cost including teacher’s salary. With Smile Foundation’s support, SSS aims to provide education to many more underprivileged children of Musahar community.
