Education and shelter for underprivileged boys
This project aims to provide education to the underprivileged children of Bannerghatta region in Bangalore, Karnataka. Under the project, disadvantaged children from nearby areas are bestowed with proper educational support and shelter. These children, identified from the community through mobilization sessions, include orphans, single parent children and those from extremely poor families.
Parents of most of the children in the community have been traditional craftsmen, but owing to modern technologies have lost their livelihoods and are unable to support their children’s education.
Besides education, food and shelter, which are primarily provided at the centre, vocational training and computer training sessions are imparted on a regular basis. To provide the children’s material, social, intellectual and spiritual attainments are prime motives of the initiative. To achieve this, experienced teachers are employed at the centre, apart from good infrastructural support being in place.
Co-curricular activities and sports are given particular attention to promote the holistic development of the children. The boys are encouraged to actively participate in activities and events, to nurture their talents and also engage the community towards the cause.
Smile Foundation implements this project in association with Snehasadan Boys Home.
