Community empowerment in Goa through holistic education
This mission education project provides education to the children from marginalized communities in Mapusa, North Goa. Through a residential educational centre, this project makes an effort to scale up the overall development of the children. It caters to children in the age group of 3 to 16 years. Besides education, emphasis is also given to health, moral, personality and cultural development of the children at the centre.
In addition to the residential educational centre, the project facilitates remedial classes for children in 6 different villages in Goa. The children benefitted under the project are mostly first generation learners, their parents being laborers and daily wagers.
Under this project, a library has been newly set up at the centre and stocked with a wide range of books. Through innovative teaching methods, and incorporating different kinds of games and programs in the curriculum, the project puts in efforts to stimulate the latent talent and potential in the students. Over 120 students are benefited from this project every year.
Smile Foundation has partnered with Bahujan Hitay Trust for this Mission Education Project.
