New Associations

National
Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC) an ISO 9001 –
2008 certified Government of India Enterprise under Ministry
of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, partnered with Smile
Foundation for an Integrated Community Development Project in
Delhi-NCR. |

This is an innovative initiative focused
at the holistic development of underprivileged slum dwellers
in five slum areas of Delhi-NCR – in Dhaula Kuan, Chattarpur,
New Ashok Nagar, Shashi Garden and South City II (Gurgaon).
This project will target a population of over 80,000 and will
directly benefit over 36,000 people residing in these areas.
This Integrated Community Development Project
is being implemented in a three-fold approach – education
of children, empowerment of women &
adolescent girls and providing healthcare services to the people
residing in the target areas. |

The
Educational aspect of this development project will be achieved
thought Bridge Course Education of in the age group of 6-16 years.
Providing healthcare services to the slum dwellers, especially
women and children, is the second aspect, of this project. These
healthcare services will be provided to the people through regular
health camps in the target areas. The third aspect of this project
is the empowerment of women and adolescent girls. This empowerment
will be brought about through focus on their education, bringing
about positive behavioral change and improved reproductive health. |

An
integrated community development project is being implemented
in Madhya Pradesh with support from Gas Authority of India Limited
(GAIL).The project is operational in five villages – namely
Ahmedapur, Bublakhedi, Bawarikheda, Chainpura and Padarkheri,
of Vijaipur (Guna) in Madhya Pradesh. This initiative focuses
mainly on providing education and healthcare to the community
dwellersof the target areas,

especially children and women, ensuring
their all-round development. The project will directly benefit
over 1300 people in the target areas.
The educational aspect of this project
focuses on bridging the educational gap for the underprivileged
children particularly drop-outs and slow learners in the age
of 06-16 years. In the healthcare part of this project, regular
health camps are conducted in the target locations. These health
camps provide curative, preventive and promotive healthcare
services to the community dwellers.

India’s flagship Natural Gas company. GAIL has been engaged
in planned community and social benefit programmes, carried out
under the Special Component Plan (SCP) and Tribal Sub Plan (TSP)
since 1992. |

Sistema
Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL) a national level telecom service
company, has partnered with Smile Foundation to provide internet
services in the Mission Education project

centers, with the objective to better the
computer education of children beneficiaries and give them a
better exposure to the internet world.This partnership will
be spread across 23 Mission Education centers in Delhi, Gurgaon,
Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, Noida, Patna, Chennai and
Siliguri. This partnership will work in three phases over a
period of two years. Over 4200 children will be benefitted from
this initiative. This innovative initiative will focus on enhancing
learning capabilities of the underprivileged children and making
them aware of the “Global village”.

Internet aided learning will be integrated within regular course
curriculum at Mission Education centers to achieve the laid out
objectives.

addition to its support to Smile Foundation’s Smile Twin
e-Learning Programme, Samsung has further extended its support
towards Smile’s Mission Education programme and has partnered
with Smile Foundation for its Samsung HOPE Project. Through
this project, Samsung aims to make a difference in the lives
of underprivileged children by providing them quality education.
Samsung has chosen Smile Foundation to partner and

implement this project in the states of
Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
Samsung had constituted a high profile
jury to evaluate and select partners for this project. The jury
carefully scrutinized and evaluated all the nominations received
and selected Smile Foundation as a partner for this initiative.
Samsung Hope Project represents Samsung
Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives in the area of Education,
Culture, Community Development and Sports.

The current Hope Project initiative
seeks to further strengthen the Company’s efforts to reach
quality education to more underprivileged children. Samsung Hope
for Children is a global programme that aims to bring attention
to the worldwide need for childhood education and healthcare.

State
Bank of India, the largest banking and financial services company
in India, has partnered with Smile Foundation
|

to support a new healthcare initiative
for the underprivileged. This initiative is a Mobile Emergency
Response System The project will be initially operational in
Delhi-NCR and will provide emergency response services to the
community dwelling in the urban slums. The project has already
been inaugurated by the honourable Union Finance Minister, Shri
Pranab Mukherjee, on the occasion of golden |
|
jubilee day of SBI’s staff college. Also present for the
occasion were Mr. D. K. Mittal, Secretary, Ministry of Finance,
Govt. of India; Mr. Pratip Choudhuri, Chairman and CMD of State
Bank of India; Mr. Santanu Mishra, Co- Founder and Executive Trustee
of Smile Foundation; and Mr. H.N. Sahay, Director, Smile Foundation.
Red Cross society along with Smile Foundation will be implementing
this project in Delhi/ NCR. |

SIEMENS
Ltd. has partnered with Smile Foundation for a healthcare project
that will provide primary health care services to the people
in Madhepura district of Bihar. This project through a mobile
hospital focuses on providing preventive, promotive & curative
health services to the underprivileged people living in ten
villages of Madhepura – Sahugarh1, Sahugarh2, Bhatutola,
Mithai, Balam, Shripur, Chaklam, Sabela, Puniyahi and Sukhasan.
This is an initiative to promote a health seeking behavior among
the people living in the area.

This project aims to meet the primary healthcare
needs of the underprivileged population in and around Siemens
project sites through preventive, promotive and curative services
with focus on improving coverage of ante-natal care amongst
pregnant women to ensure safe motherhood and decreased maternal
mortality; improving immunization and other child care and general
healthcare services; respiratory tract infection case management,
awareness of HIV/AIDS, health and sanitation issues; improving
reporting and management of infectious diseases amongst the
people; IEC and BCC activities to promote health seeking behaviour;

and facilitation of specialty
services by linking to nearby health institutions.

Cairn
Energy India has further extended its support to Smile Foundation
in providing healthcare services to the underprivileged in the
states of Rajasthan and Gujarat. Cairn Energy was already

partnering in the direct implementation
of two mobile hospital projects in Jamnagar (Gujarat) and Barmer
(Rajatshan). In addition to this, now three new mobile hospital
projects have been initiated – two in Barmer (Rajasthan)
and one in Patan (Gujarat).
The three new projects, like the previous
ones will provide healthcare to the community dwellers, by sensitizing
them on health related issues and giving them primary healthcare
services. These mobile hospitals will also facilitate specialty
services by linking to nearby health institutions.

to support the Smile on Wheels programme. A new mobile hospital
is being started in Bangalore under this partnership. This mobile
hospital will carry preventive, promotive

and registered with Charity Commissioner under Bombay Public

Big
Bazaar partnered with Smile Foundation for the cause of education
for underprivileged children.

For this partnership the retail giant
created an event where children, both privileged and underprivileged,
were invited to the stores to make special Christmas and New
Year cards. These handmade cards were then sold in all Big Bazaar
stores across North India, and the funds raised was proceeded
to supporting education of children beneficiaries in the Mission
Education programme of Smile Foundation. |
