Smile Foundation at Airtel Delhi Half Marathon 2015

Smile Foundation participated in the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon for the sixth consecutive year as a “Change Runner” to raise resources for the education of children studying at Mission Education centres across India.

Supporting the cause, leading corporate like BlackRock, Amtek Auto Limited, JK Cement and Konica Minolta joined Smile Foundation to ensure quality education for 130 underprivileged children.

The over 100 member strong Smile team including volunteers, and employees from the supporting corporate, ran for 6 kilometres as part of the Great Delhi Run at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.

Art and Smile to support girl child education

The annual Art and Smile show was held at the Bangalore Club. This year's show saw participation from leading contemporary artists from across the country including Anjolie Ela Menon, Sujata Achrekar, Babu Xavier, Shankar Kendale, Bikash Poddar, Santanu Roy, Ganesh Haloi, S.Harsha Vardhana, Ramesh Gorjala, Subrata Das, H R Das, Vrindavan Solanki, M.Praveen Kumar, K.Muralidharan, Dutta Bansode, S.Priya, Jagannath Paul, Nikheel Aphale, P.Elanchezhiyan, Uday Jain, Hrishikesh, V.Anamika, Subir Dey, S G Vasudev, AV Ilango, Sachin Jaltara, JMS Mani, Suresh P, Paresh Hazra, Basuki Dasgupta, and Seema Kohli.

The proceeds from the sale of the paintings went towards supporting the education of girl children under Smile Foundation's Mission Education programme. The show also saw active participation and support from art connoisseurs and collectors from all over Bengaluru.

Certificate of Merit (Social Cause & Empowerment)

India's Most Ethical Companies Conference & Awards instituted by the World CSR Congress, conferred Smile Foundation with the Certificate of Merit (Social Cause & Empowerment). The World CSR Congress recognises organisations that have had a material impact on the way business is conducted in a socially responsible way by fostering a culture of ethics and transparency.

Ms. Minakshi Dey, Regional Manager - Corporate Partnerships, Smile Foundation, received the award from Mr. Nand Kishore Badami, Chief Marketing Officer, Cisco India and SAARC, at the conference in Taj Lands End, Mumbai.



 

Employees from leading corporate celebrate Joy of Giving with Smile



Employees from leading corporate including FIS, Ericsson India, Ericsson Global, Myntra, Jabong and McDonalds, joined hands with Smile Foundation to celebrate the Joy of Giving. The campaign aimed at sensitizing and mobilizing individuals to take up their social responsibility.
The employees raised support for less privileged children under the Mission Education programme, supporting their critical needs such as stationery, school kits, uniforms and nutrition. Some of them also went ahead to support the education of children for a whole year.

Enthusiastic participation from the employees ensured the success of the campaign, with educational support being provided to more than 500 children.

Leaders from different industries “Cook for a Smile”
at 4th edition in Mumbai

The 4th edition of 'Cook for a Smile' raised support for providing nutrition to underprivileged children under Smile Foundation's 'Nutrition for Education' initiative. Presented and hosted by Grand Hyatt Mumbai, in association with Prestige, the event brought together eminent personalities from film, television and fashion industry with Chef Vikas Khanna to cook, contest and raise support for Smile Foundation children.

Bengaluru hosts 5th edition of
Cook for a Smile

The 5th edition of the unique charity cook-out “Cook for a Smile” presented by Mother's Recipe, powered by RMZ Corp and supported by The Hindu was held in Bengaluru. The event was part of Smile Foundation's nation-wide campaign 'Nutrition for Education', which aims at providing nutrition to underprivileged children to ensure better education and holistic development for them.

On any other day running would have been just a fitness activity, but the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2016 saw corporate and youth run for a cause – of child education with Smile Foundation.

Life Insurance Corporation, SBI Life Insurance Co. Ltd., Abbott Healthcare India, Capri Global Capital Ltd, State Bank of India, Prudential UK and Crown Worldwide Group, along with their employees wholeheartedly participated in the marathon. Their support and commitment has ensured education of more than 1500 children under Smile Foundation's Mission Education programme across India.

Bollywood actor Girish Kumar joined the Smile team at the Cheering Zone and added to the excitement. Students from the Thakur College of Engineering and Technology came together once again and helped pull crowds with their flash mob performance, spreading awareness about the cause.

Reliance Capital-Commercial Finance employees spread smiles

Employees of Reliance Capital-Commercial Finance and their children spent an exciting and engaging day with the children of Smile Foundation at Mission Education centres in Delhi, Chennai and Mumbai. A total of 140 children came together making the day truly memorable for the team from Reliance Capital.

Various interactive activities ensured great bonding between the employees and their new young friends. They had fun together - planting saplings, making birthday cards, painting pots & diyas, and playing various games. Gifts were exchanged and lunch shared as the day came to an end, leaving smiles on every face.




Spreading Smiles through Science - Microsoft Day of Giving

A team of 55 employees from Microsoft dedicated a day “Spreading Smiles through Science” among children at a Mission Education centre in Bengaluru. The introduction session started off with the employees putting across questions on computers and other IT related topics to the kids. After a fun and energized ice breaker, the children and employees were paired in different groups and each group was allocated a science related topic to name them, there were experiments on testing the weight of air, learning about the parts of the human body, exploring the layers of the atmosphere, understanding magnetic waves and learning about the water cycle.

The employees also trained teachers from the centre on the uses of the KaHO app which will enable

the teachers to improve their teaching process with effective communication. Microsoft donated Nokia phones to all the teachers to facilitate the use of the app at the centre.

'Swachhata ki Paathshala' with Dia Mirza

Events  

Actress Dia Mirza spent a day with Smile Foundation children at a Mission Education centre in Mumbai. She talked about importance of education, cleanliness and personal hygiene with the children, motivating them to dream and work hard to achieve their dreams.

The children were delighted with Dia as she narrated engaging stories, shared her experiences and patiently answered all their queries. Dia's interaction with the kids was captured by NDTV and aired as a special episode titled 'Swachhta Ki Pathshala'.
